Black Series 6" Archive Re-Releases
« on: July 20, 2018, 05:14 PM »
Rumors are true, Hasbro is going to start re-releasing popular, in-demand characters so new collecotrs don't have to sell their car to catch up.

Name of the Line is The Black Series Archive.  First up - Boba Fett, Bossk, IG-88, and X-Wing Luke (with photo real face deco).  Great news for anyone who decides they want the 6" ESB Bounty Hunters.

Han in Carbonite would be a great one to pack for 19!

The new paint apps on humanoid faces makes these reissues a little interesting.  Most of all, I'm glad to see Hasbro recognizing that some of the characters have been in demand for a while and need to get recirculated.  Because eBay prices on some characters, like ROTS Anakin Skywalker, have just gotten insane.

Listening the the JD interview at SDCC I realized these are going to be blister carded and not boxed.   That got me worried.

Does anyone know how these are going to make it to retail?  Are they going to mixed in with new releases, or is there going to be a whole separate Archive line taking its own dedicated pegs?

At first I was cool with them mixing these figures in to assortments (and skipping more Kylo Rens, more Jyns, etc.), but now if they're going to have their own pegs it makes me worried that is just going to exacerbate the problem of bad assortments.

Also, does anyone know if they're going to keep their seemingly stale lines like Die Cast Figures and Centerpiece going?  Seems like a lot of dust on those at my local Targets and its frustrating when peg space seems to be shrinking for the core stuff I'm trying to locate.

Off topic but related to one of Dave's points. My local Target has done the new toy set with a remodel. The action figure aisles are, I'd estimate, two feet less tall than they were. Far less peg space. That scares me a bit

That was the store I hit today Nick and the pucker factor kicked in:
- one peg for Vintage
- 2 pegs for TLJ (clearance this crap already) 3.75"
- 2 pegs for Solo 3.75"
- 1 peg for Gam Guard 6"
- 1 peg for Chewie 6"
- 2 pegs for regular 6"

I'm hoping that limited shelf space doesn't last long, but they're going to have to get rid of some other junk (die cast, etc.) to make room.

Black Series Archive is its own line of carded 6" figures (you can see early carded mock-up in pic above).  Separate from the main Black Series 6" boxed stuff.  It should have unique pegs and it's own case assortments.

Lemme tack on as an aside that I really want the Kylo centerpiece because I think it’ll look good with 4” figures as a diorama Base. 🤷‍♂️

Fantastic to see Anakin getting a re-release...  I missed out on that one and, well, with the upcoming Padme figure, it’s needed!  But I hope these re-releases don’t diminish the value of existing figures.  I got complete sets of somemof the first waves and have been pleased to see how well they held their value.

It''l be interesting.  These will have a different style of packaging (archive series is carded), so the old boxed ones will hold value to those trying to complete a boxed set.  '

But for loose?  These will have superior paint aps (using the new photo real deco process) so I could see people who are collecting loose being happy with the new versions.  May even see the number of loose figures for sale go up as folks buy the new better versions and sell off the older versions of Anakin and Yoda.
