I drove from Chicago to Tampa last week (and back) and the lowest I saw was $1.87.

It was a nice break from the cost of that trip on an average year, but I'm not going to get too excited.  I'm pretty confident it'll be right back where it was last July, by next July.

Thanks to *******, OPEC is a shell of its old self.  Unless Russia decides to start a war to boost prices, I think we're looking at low gas for quite a while.  Prices have barely adjusted to $60-a-barrel oil.

$2.19 is the lowest I've seen locally.

As for Russia?  They're in deep trouble economically right now.  I don't know if I would even joke about them starting a war.

Friendly reminder that this is the POLITICS FREE gas prices thread.  If you'd like to debate the pros/cons of *******, the falling Russian ruble, or anything else, take it over here.  Thanks! ;)

In my defense, my post was entirely apolitical.  Increased domestic oil production from ******* is a fact.  OPEC's inability to control supply as a result of said increase is a fact.  The US now rivals Saudi Arabia in oil production.  And Russia's economic dependence on oil exports is thoroughly documented.  Speculating that a glut of supply would keep prices down long-term is not a political statement, it's Econ 101.

Gas was anywhere from $4.25 (resort pricing) down to $2.99 (Costco) in Hawaii but it's always ballparking Canadian prices anyway.  Currently $0.86 per liter here, or $3.44

Still holding strong around $2.19 these days.  Haven't seen anything below $2.00 yet.

Saw $2.45 today.  It's getting close to where with my coupons from K-Mart I may get it for under $2/gal.
