Probably the greatest album of the 90's

I picked my copy up on Saturday. Was going to get the uber set, but I don't have an XBox so it does me no good.

Definately the best album they have since they picked up Robert Trujilo. I hated the sound of St. Anger which was the last album that I ever purchased for myself.

I thought that the album was great. It had the old feel of MOP, RTL, & AJFA with a lot of the songs. Grantered there was some throw back to the LOAD & ReLOAD sound too which I didn't mind. I expected Unforgiven III to be just like the other 2 and was a little disappointed that it didn't, but it was good. I like the intro for it.

Can't wait till I get it loaded on my pod.

Black Mountain, In The Future

I'm really digging this band.

Nice.  I bought this when it came out earlier this year; both it and the band's first self-titled release get heavy rotation from me.

They've also done some stuff with U.N.K.L.E. that's worth tracking down.

The whole album is great. I can't believe I never heard of them before Saturday. I'm going to check out their self-titled album next, then the stuff with U.N.K.L.E.  :)

Huh. Never seen Destroyer with the German logo before. That's pretty neat.  :)

I've had a chance to give Death Magnetic a few whirls.  A lot more good than bad, which is not something I've been able to say about Metallica since 1991.  It had the feel of old Metallica but with an updated flavor - they effectively pulled off an old sound without it sounding dated.  There were a few areas that sound as though they could have been on Load or Reload but overall I say it sounds like the whole album could have been from the Justice era.  It's nice to hear some thrashy Metallica music once again and even more so it's good to hear Kirk Hammett again.  :)  He sounds as good as ever and he's definitely a big piece of what Metallica is.  My only real complaint is that some bits seemed kind of forced, like they were trying too hard to recapture the Puppets/Justice sounds.  I was also a bit disappointed that they didn't use more odd time signatures, which I kind of expected after realizing they were going back to the old sound.  There were a few, just not as many as I'd initially hoped.  Minor complaints though and overall I'm really impressed.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to see them with Down next month.

Only reason I actually went to the Midnight release is that I worked 2nd shift and I got out of the resturante around 11:30PM so I swung into Down In The Valley and picked it up.

Megadeth - 99 Ways To Die
Cher & Beavis & Butt-Head - I Got You Babe (Cher had previously refused to do that song, but her daughter got her to do it)
Nirvana - I hate Myself and Want to Die
Come To Butt-Head (Both versions)
