I've been listening to this non-stop:

Between The Buried and Me - "The Anatomy Of"

It's all cover songs. They do Queen's "Bicycle Race" perfectly. The bike bell solo and all, AMAZING!

I've seen this in Matthew's sig for the last couple of days and I signed up myself (since I love everything he does)  It looks pretty sweet if it does what it says it can do

Gonna play any good stuff today, or just a bunch of tired nineties grunge?

My God, it's amazing.

Kevin

I don't get the love for Johnny Cash.  And the movie sucked.  [/rant]

Anyway, I'm trying some new stuff this evening:

Very cool story with this one... back when my dad raced his sailboat, he had huge speakers set up on the stern, and I believe mast, of the ship. At the kickstart of the race, he'd take the quick lead and switch on the amps. Up and down the entire lake, people could hear the Hueys of Orange Light, the Calvary Charge trumpeting, and that weird ambient... that'd lead into Ride of the Valkyries, which of course is the coolest ******* part about Apocalypse Now.

You see me now a veteran
Of a thousand psychic wars
My energy is spent at last
And my armor is destroyed
I have used up all my weapons
And I'm helpless and bereaved
Wounds are all I'm made of
Did I hear you say that this is victory

I picked up The Who's Wire & Glass yesterday.  It's a six song set from their upcoming double album.  It's also their first new album since the early 1980's and without bassist John Entwistle.

The record features Townsend and Daltrey in fine form.  Joining them are longtime keyboard player John "Rabbit" Bundrick, drummer Peter Huntington and bass monster Pino Palladino.  I think that Pino had his work cut out for him in this project.  After all, you can't just replace John Entwistle.  But Pino steps up in a big way.  His playing is much less restrained than on records like Pete Townsend's Psychoderelict.  I have to say though, I'm disappointed that drummer Zach Starkey didn't play on the record, but word has it that he had touring committments with Oasis that kept him from recording with The Who.

As for the material?  I think it's stronger than either Daltrey or Townsend's solo efforts of the last decade.  It seems like a return to form for The Who, despite the absence of both Keith Moon and John Entwistle.
