What are the "last 17" figures?
« on: November 3, 2003, 11:15 PM »
Yes, I know, the last 17 vintage figures made, but specifically what are they.  Not like I would expect to be lied to on ebay or anything like that.   ::)

Currently these are the figures listed as "last 17" in the titles on ebay:

Anakin
EV-9D9
A-wing pilot
Imperial Dignitary
Lando General
Luke Battle Poncho (Endor)
Romba
Warok
Yakface
Lumat
R2-D2 with pop up light saber
Han Solo Carbonite
Luke Stormtrooper
Imperial Gunner
Barada
Amanaman
Paploo?

Is that correct?  Some seem relatively "common" on ebay

And while we're at it, what are good prices for each?  Do we have a price guide here?

Yep, those are the last 17. A good discussion was on RS on why they are called the last 17.

When did the term of the last 17 figures come in to play?

As for what are good prices for each, depends if you want carded or loose & also depends on what you want to spend. Carded will run some major bucks as loose will not be that high.

Eg: Yak Face loose, $80.+ & POTF carded, a few grand or like this example, VINTAGE POTF YAK FACE MOC MOMC

Anakin: loose, $13. & POTF carded, again major bucks.

You can find Trilogo ones for a fair cost like Anakin, Tri Logo Anakin

Luke Stormtrooper, loose $80. + & carded, Trilogo, $200.+ ROTJ trilogo LUKE Imperal Stormtrooper POTF, $200. + 1984 POTF MOC UNPUNCHED LUKE STORMTROOPER

Best to do alittle research on completed on eBay to see what they go for as they will vary from time to time. Who knows, you may luck in on a bargin!  ;)

Here's the old search page I use.

Thanks Dale.

sorry, I should have stated loose.  I probably would grab the cheaper ones on trilogo cards, seeing as I have one to start down that dark path already....

I think I have a pretty good idea of stuff already just from watching the forums and ebay...

Annoyingly expensive:
Luke Stormtrooper
Amanaman (won an auction for $52 but reserve not met >:()
EV-9D9
Yakface

The rest seem only moderately expensive, $50 or less loose.

These are the ones I don't come across very often:
Barada
Han Carbonite
Luke Poncho
R2 with saber

That leaves the rest that I see fairly frequently, sometimes in lots.

Yup those are the tough ones. I'm about half way there on the last 17. Anakin is the easiest by far. I'd say Yak is the most expensive followed by Luke Stormie. Luckily I got the Yak but the Luke is tough to find because of the helmet missing on so many of them.

R2 with saber can run around $75.+ same with Han Carbonite. Sometimes tricky to find the saber for R2 & a real one. Lot's of repros out there. Luke Stormie helmet is another one that can be made.

Also be warned that there are repro figures out in the market. Yak Face has been floating around & even the Blue Snaggletooth are being made. :-\

EV-9D9 is known to have a loose arm. Nothing annoying than to get a nice one & his arm falls off.  :o

Thanks for that too.

I've seen numerous auctions for EV-9D9 with one arm, so I'm ready for that possibility.  Hoping to sneak one in a lot.  Same too for blue Snags.  A little scuffing isn't always a bad thing.  Yakface is bound to be last on my list :(

I'm not too opposed to repro's if it will save me some money, though all original is better.

I've seen Luke repro helmets on ebay for BIN of $15 so that is tempting too.  I know, not quite the purist, but for the time being, then upgrade down the road.

This will take a considerable period of time to complete, I see that quite clearly.  I just wish I was having the luck that someone else around here has demonstrated, though my effort has not been comparable in hunting.  Vinty's will start up seriously for me again some time around March.  I think of summer as vintage hunting season :P

Was this a good price or bad price?

I did not bid, not the right time for me to do so, but it was tempting.  A nice, nm-mint complete fig, essentially loose but coin too.

I would say not too bad a price for a minty Luke Poncho. A loose one sold for $45. loose complete Luke Poncho  & a carded one sold for $45.99 LUKE IN BATTLE PONCHO

There was also a Trilogo on a cut card that went for $42.00  CUT CARD LUKE BATTLE PONCHO

All in the timing!  ;)

I think that price is very good for a Luke Poncho MOC. Another figure with a tough to find weapon, so it's better to buy it on card and insure you get the real deal.

I bid $41 on the tri logo cut card and lost, so to get one with the coin for close to the same price would have been nice.

I agree with DSJ timing is a big part of the success in obtaining the last 17 at a reasonable price.  I saw a nice condition Carbonite Han sell for $35 the other day.

I still need 13 of the last 17 to go and  I'm in no rush as I have better things to spend money on.  Patience is key as well.

Repro's are a matter of opinion I suppose, I for the record dont buy them as I think it hurts the hobby.  To me it's a simple as counterfit vs. non counterfit.

Try posting a want add on other boards as well as checking here from time to time.

Thanks.

One of my grand plans has been ruined for these.  There are currently at least two EV-9D9's on ebay.  One without a left arm, the other without a right arm.  I was hoping to score both and build one complete version.  From the bidding, it looks like someone else has the same idea.

Does this droid lose one arm more frequently than the other?  Or is it simply either/or?

Funny you ask that, my droid has a loose left arm I believe.  I would assume that either one could go loose.  What are the auctions at$ ?

Right arm droid ends in about 20 minutes (sorry), currently at $22.  Left arm ends in about 2 days, still low.  search under star wars vintage last 17 and you'll see it.
