Yeah, the temptation of "other lines" is what makes my total worse than it needs to be too.  A "Gates of Mordor" Sam, and I think I can be done with LOTR, I just don't have the space for many more.  Marvel is another story, I really enjoy those figures, but we'll have to see.  I think I can at least go into this year knowing that Marvel Legends should be the only non-Star Wars line that tempts me from now on.  Of course, that is easy to say now.  I should just skip those too, since there are more than enough Star Wars lines alone out there to keep a person busy and spending money :).  Here's what I'm hoping to stick to this year:

Star Wars 3 3/4" - Figures, Beasts, Vehicles....likely the whole caboodle, but not completist.  Only the ones I like, and I'll likely skip the "Deluxe" ones if they are of the "force flippin fantabulous" variety.  Vehicles, I enjoy collecting them, but like Scott mentioned too, I'm really getting cramped for space.

Vintage Star Wars 3 3/4" - Still working (and hoping) to get a complete loose collection...someday.  This really got put on the backburner more than I had hoped with quite a bit of Star Wars/Misc. stuff out, and with moving and home improvement expenses.  I hope to get back to this in 2005, slowly but surely.

Star Wars Unleashed - This is a line I really like, and I hope to continue.  Space is a concern here as well.  I've been OT-only with this, but I'm starting to consider a few PT pieces here and there.

Galactic Heroes - Enjoy these little buggers too, and they have kind of become my alternative to Kubricks.  I'd really like to be in the Kubrick gang too, but I just don't think I can afford it.  I'm hoping the GH continue, and it looks like we'll get some ROTS ones at least...not a real expensive line to collect since there aren't too many of them and they are in 2-packs.

Star Wars Misc. - Hallmark Ornaments - a new area I might be jumping into...again, likely OT only, but I have some backtracking to do to catch up.  Jedi Force - I said I'd only get Chewie, but I now have Vader and the Droids sitting on the shelves too, so I guess I'm a liar.  Still not sure if I'll go any further, or if the line itself even will.  Bust-Ups - Again, only the Chewie so far, but they are pretty nifty, and my "cost effective" alternative to the very cool, but unaffordable for me, Mini Bust line.  I think I'd splurge if they released a Chewbacca Mini-Bust though.

Marvel Legends/Spidey - This is the main "other" line that continues to tempt me.  Nothing new around here for a looong time, so it hasn't been an issue, but if/when it starts to show up, it will be.  I know that I probably shouldn't buy any, but I can't say that I won't :).  I'll have to determine it by budget I guess, like I said, more than enough Star Wars goodies out there, particularly this year I'm guessing.

Hmmm.  Let's see....

Master Replica's - F/X sabers only ($600)

Unleashed - wavering due to space issues, but I think some of the PT looks superior to some OT stuff.  ($250)

Galactic Heroes - manageable and good for the kid ($100)

Kubrick's - >:( :-\ :-[ - regular stuff from upcoming series plus I wouldn't mind filling in a few of the chase pieces, maybe a loose Boba or two, then droids versions ($400)

Star Wars 3 3/4" - figures (probably armies :-X), maybe beasts and some ships, will have to see - strategy is very different this year though, army builders and 'cool' figures ok to purchase at retail, otherwise wait for secondary market price drop on loose stuff.  I completely see the point regarding ships, but the new yellow preview ship (modified star fighter) looks kind of nifty to me. ($1500)

Vintage - some minor variations, vinyl Jawa then I'll probably get stupid and go for a 12 back collection ::) - also need my loose Droids 3PO ($500 minus the 12 backs ;))

Hallmark - just some OT stuff, mostly ships, buy 'em in June (100)

Bust ups - manageable dollarwise ($200)

GG busts - shouldn't be too many considering I'm pretty selective, hoping for a new Vader bust, maybe a new Boba ($300)

Marvel Legends - pretty sure going the case route here, like Scott, especially for the "builder" series'. ($320)

Spiderman Legends - just villains and all I need is patience ($100)

LOTR - just need to finish out my major guys, needing Hobbits and a Legolas - canned the idea of having all the Wraiths, so just need one of each type, still bringing me to around five or so.  ($50)

McFarlane - probably just a couple of hockey guys - Jets Khabibulin and a Legend or two, otherwise I'm done.  Will still help out folks here best I can. ($100)

Anything I'm missing?  If not, great, that's already got me at $4520 :o :'(  Where to cull ??? :-\

Jadesfire.................................$5730.50.  US.
Jokabofe.................................$6665.73.  US.  So far.   ;)

Mikey D...................................Lost track.
Morgbug.................................$7490.41.  US.
Mosnab...................................$766.51.  US.
Padawan.
Reconsgt.
Scott.......................................$4532.00. US.
Vator.......................................$600.44.  US.

Just for reference's sake, since Dale's too lazy to convert for us, his total is approximately $9,858 in U.S. dollars, using today's exchange rate (which is obviously not entirely indicative of his past year's activities, but oh well).

Definitely have to hear from Adam before deciding anything here, 'cause with all those freakin' props (including LOTR) that he buys, plus the MR AT-AT, etc., he'll likely be at, or very near the top, of the Challenge as well.  I'd guess Josh might be up close to the $5K area too...

As for me, I chose from the very start not to get involved with this, since I didn't really want to know my total.  But I'm a carded/loose completist of EVERYTHING 4" (figures, ships, beasts, playsets, ****** exclusives, etc.), an avid army builder, then add in Kubricks, Unleashed, Gentle Giant busts, Galactic Heroes, WOTC minis, GG Bust-Ups, Master Replicas mini-sabers, Legos, posters, Hallmark ornaments, books, DVDs, etc.

I'm pretty confident in guessing that I'd probably fall somewhere around jokabofe's dollar amount, unfortunately.  Hopefully not as high as Brent's though.  Either way, ugh.   :-\

I put your name in there Matt as you were not sure if you would partake or not. Apparently not so I will remove your name from the list.  :-*

I did mention that it would be nice to see comparison between the US & Canadian dollar but I chose different!  :P

$9,858 US would be around the area but the way the dollar up here was from the begining of the year till the year end, I may have burst the $10,000. US mark.  :-\

If that was the prize, I'd make sure I won every year. And I could certainly do it. Oh yes, I could  :D

All things considered, while yes I spent at least that much money, I made probably 1/2 - 3/4 of that selling stuff. So "new" money spent wasn't nearly as high.
