I've played on the internet a few times and it isn't anything like real life. In real life, I've only played twice, but I got a little set (one of those ones in the silver case like they have at Target) for Christmas this year.
The other night, my friend wanted to play for his birthday. The set comes with hundreds of chips, so we had 3 or 4 people play for a few hours. After awhile, I began to get the hang of it a bit, and started to win. I cleaned everyone out.
I have no delusions that this means I'm a good player, it just means that I had one good night when I wasn't even playing for real money. We're thinking of playing for 10 bucks or something next time to make it more competitive and slow down all the raising that goes on when you're playing for fake money.
Is there a good site for poker betting rules? We were a little confused about how long the rounds of betting can go on for (like...do you go around once, or keep going around until everyone has called and no one is raising?)
