Got my Clone trooper today at TRU!

Man, they had absoluetly not new Star Wars figures, so I just bough 2 basic lightsabers, man, the Clone Trooper is pretty neat, I feel so bad for people who paid about 50 bucks for these things though!

This stuff reminds me more and more why I gave up modern collecting minus Clone Wars and a few other selected figures.  I stopped at two stores on my way home.  One had none left, the other on Topanga did not even get them in ::)!

They were giving rainchecks.  Absolutely no new figures as well.

I went to TRU today. Didn't see the Clones, so I asked. They checked their computer, and it said they have 29 of them. OK, where are they? They looked around for fifteen minutes, and said they couldn't find them.

I'm going back tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath. I might just order it from Amazon.

I not only had to show them the ad to prove they had them, but I went through about 15 minutes of arguing with two cashiers over them.  One said they should be on the pegs, one didnt know, and the manager didnt know, and finally someone said they were in the office....

Like, wtf, either get with the program or don't work there.  I for the life of me don't understand why they don't have a list of things that are on sale/free etc at the registers...

I had a disgruntling experience at TRU too.

I went to the TRU in Woodbury MN on Sunday.  You know, SUNDAY APRIL 4th.  The day the Promo started!  The day the Ad came out!  I got there around 11:30am, plenty of time for them to figure out what was going on.  I picked one of the Clone Trooper Unleashed for $14.99 and went to the front to get my FREE Clone.

The cashier gave me the blank stare.   And it went something like this...

Cashier: "The what?"
Me: "The FREE Clone Trooper".
Cahsier: "This rings up at $14.99, sir."
Me: "Not THIS Clone, the one in the AD.  Silver Figure only at TRU"
Cashier: [digs out AD]
Me: [pointing] "This AD right here.  Buy $14.99, get FREE Clone."
Lady Behind me in Line: *sigh* "is this going to take long?"
Me: [shrug]
Cashier: "Uh... let me call someone."
Me: "Fine"

[five minute wait]

Manager: "What's the problem?"
Cashier: "This guy wants a FREE SW Clone Trooper."
Manager: "This isn't FREE, it's $14.99." [referring to the Unleashed Clone I was buying]
Me: "Not this one, the FREE one in your AD."
Manager: "Oh."
Me: "It says if you buy $14.99 worth of SW, you get a FREE clone."
Manager: "Oh, that.  We don't have those unpacked yet."
Me: "What?"
Manager: "Our truck came in on Friday and we haven't unpacked them yet."
Me: "Didn't you know you'd have customers coming in Today because of the Ad?"
Manager: "Corporate puts out the Ad, not us."
Me: "That's not my point.  You knew about the ad, right?"
Manager: "Oh yeah."
Me: "Then why aren't the clones available as stated?"
Manager: "Just didn't get unpacking them yet.  We'll have them out by the end of the week though."
Me: "So, can I get a raincheck for one then."
Manager: "No, I can't.  It's a limited time offer."
Me: "But the offer started TODAY."
Manager: "I guess."
Me: "So, you can't do anything to help me?
Lady behind me in line: "This is ridiculous!"

[The Lady Behind me in Line then set down her stuff on the next register over and left because you see, they STILL haven't opened a second check-out despite the 5 other people in line and taking over 15minutes with me]

Manager: "Nope, check back later in the week."
Cashier: "That'll be $15.96"
Me: "I don't want the SW item if I don't get the freebie, or at least my receipt endorsed so I can come back later in the week and get one once you have enough time to get them unpacked."
Manager: "Sorry, I can't guarantee they will last for you to come back and get one."
Me: "But I'm here TODAY, the first day of the promo."
Manager: "Sorry."
Me: [scowl]  >:(
Cashier: "So, you don't even want this thing?"
Me: *sigh* "Bye."

And then I left.  And I won't be going back to that hellhole in quite some time.  It's not the first time that the employees there have had NO idea about something in the Ad, nor is it the first time that something in the ad was unavailable because they "hadn't unpacked the truck yet".   Funny, they always seem to have time to sit around and BS with one and other though.

 >:(

The moral of the story?  I should've just ordered the dang things from TRU.com, and that's exactly what I did when I got home, along with the Red Leader X-Wing so I don't have to go back there for a while...

Looks like they are sold out at Amazon right now...I really have no interest whatsoever in this figure, not even a mild passing fancy.  The R2 I could easily pass off as another Astromech, Boba Fett was pretty neat, I can see the allure of Vader but this and the Sandtrooper are getting rediculous

I would have started to fight if that happened to me!!!

Fists would have been rolling, a ban would have been placed on me at TRU!

Man, that sucks, I am sorry!

The Clones were out today, so I picked one up for $4.99. Hard to find a mint card and bubble, I'll say that.

I thought I was the only one who got stiffed on the the Clonetrooper. At my TRU I picked up Admiral Ozzel, Bossk, and Dengar. When I got to the register the people that I know who work there said they cannot find the Clonetroopers. So the cashier told me to go to the service desk and get a raincheck.

The night before they were there in the back. The manager and two other employees told me that in the morning they could not find the case. I believe an employee walked off with the case of clones. I do not think my raincheck will be filled with the silver clone. The manager already told me that if they cannot find the silver clone that the raincheck will be good for one free basic figure of my choice.
For those of you looking for me. I am now at www.sandtroopers.com

Well if you see alot of these go right up at ebay!  Then maybe you know that was the employee?

How easy could it be to just walk out with a case of 32 Clone Troopers?

Seems a little hard for me. :-[

Hey man, it's TRU. They're professionals of cherry-picking cases and taking entire cases.

Well, at least some TRUs, anyway. I'm almost positive my local one has all the J'Quilles and Tanuses picked from each case they ship in.

I got 4 Silver Clones on Sun. They were pretty minty and weren't crushed.  :D

Yeah, the local TRU here has long been notorious for cherry-picking.  The only way you ever see anything 'rare' there is if there is sustained shipments.  Like months.
