FOTW #2 - Luke Skywalker
« on: April 3, 2004, 05:58 PM »
To all JDer's:

Feel free to share the following:

1) Pictures of the FOTW that you own.
2) How you obtained the FOTW or share a fond memory about the FOTW with us.
3) Provide information on the FOTW's known variations.
4) ?

One of my fondest memory as a child was my mom picking me up from school with her friend giving me the original Star Wars Case full of figures.
Luke was among the figures included on that day 25 years ago.

The sliding saber worked for this figure, I was not to fond of the Anakin SAGA version that came out a few years ago.  I still have not been able to land the brown hair version or the Telescoping Lightsaber version.

How about you?

Dale,

Thanks, how nice >:(

I do remember the headline on the DT Luke.  Any desire to finish off the set with a Vader or Ben?  I don't think I have ever actually seen a Ben, though I believe it is the hardest of all three to get.

Do you know what the key indicator on a fake DTL is?  Who knows I might stumble upon one of these some day, quote me ;D.

Ahh, DT Vader & Ben. Those are just out of my league.  :'(

One DT carded Vader did end on eBay today. Reserve not met!  :o

AFA 70 EX + Star Wars Double Telescoping Darth Vader

I just scanned the DT Sabers I have. The top 3 are fake made by ReValveiT.

Notice the difference in color, the fakes are darker should be more opaque & waxy.

The fakes do not appear to have any flash on it. Most DT sabers were not neatly trimmed of all the flash at the factory. Fakes are to clean.

There are no letters on the handle/hilt of the fake sabers. Mine has 2 letters which looks like "CC". It could be "GG" or "CG" or "GC". I need a better pic of the letters.  :-\

Have a look at this thread, ReValveiT has some nice pic's on DT's.

I truly had no idea the Luke DT saber was so... non yellow. It doesn't look anything like the single telescoping version in color and shade. Thanks for sharing that Dale. I am now wiser from it.  ;)

Sadly I still don't own this figure.  I've hunted and bid on a few auctions that include Luke, usually as part of the original 12 in a set, occasionally with the display.  My timing has been off and I'm usually not around for the auction finish to snipe the item.  All things in time I suppose.

The worst part for me is I now have many of the first 12, so I'll end up with duplicates.  Guess I'll just make myself a big ole lot of stuff to sell back on ebay.

This is a figure I haven't been able to pick up quite yet either.  I haven't done a lot of vintage shopping lately, because of being busy with moving, etc., but this is a figure I had always wanted to pick up.  I do have Jedi Luke, Hoth Luke, and Bespin Luke...so I need to complete the "non-POTF" set too :P.  I think a lot of fun (other than the nostalgia) of collecting vintage is that for the most part, it is always there (on ebay, or elsewhere) if you are willing to wait it out....and you can have sets that have an end. With modern, there is always new waves coming out, where as with vintage you have a set number of figures that you know of to look for.  I look forward to the day....in the distant future....when I can complete a loose, complete set of the first 77 or 79.
