Mail Away A-wing Pilot?
« on: May 12, 2004, 02:59 PM »
Was there actually a mail away for an A-wing pilot?

I came across an auction on ebay for one and I'd not known it existed.  The guy had it with a little white mailer, but that could easily have been extracted from any other mail away (Ben, Han Stormtrooper).  Does this really exist ???

99.9% sure there was never any offer like that here in the U.S.  There was definitely no way around here to acquire extra A-Wing Pilots aside from buying an all new A-Wing, 'cause a lot of us wanted them just to army build our Rebel Pilot dioramas.  No idea if there were any type of promotions outside of the U.S though, but again, nothing I've ever heard of...

Thanks Matt.  I'd never heard of it either and I'd been able to get almost every mail away at the time of its release, except for Han Stormtrooper, which I acquired through a trade.

I originally bought an A-wing, just to get the damn pilot, prior to collecting ships.  Later it just meant I didn't have to go back and chase a ship.

Anyone else?

Well, I was curious enough to find out.  Now my band is complete and I have a purpose for those accursed freeze frames as well.

I have never heard of a mail away A-Wing Pilot & there is no record that I can find on any Star Wars data base.

JD POTF Exclusives

GH POTF Exclusives

RS POTF Exclusives

I'm betting thats the mail in box for the Spirit of Obi-Wan.

Looks like a match to me. Just check the SKU number on the box when you get it.  ;)

I'm sure you're right Dale.  But an extra A-wing pilot isn't a bad thing, is it.  His other, older sales had mixed bags of stuff as well, so not too suprised some stuff was messed up.

But I could use a bunch of that stuff, if only for trade bait ;)

I wanted/needed the following:
A-wing pilot
figure stands (never enough)
5 band members, now completing my band.  Hell, I would have spent $35 Cdn on shipping out my own items in trade to get them anyway.
Freeze Frame Binoculars
MMC Luke
MMC Leia
MMC C-3PO

I did not need and are ebay/trade bait bound...
Spirit Ben
B'Omarr Monk (I think I already have two plus the new Ultra version ::))
Han Stormtrooper
Mail away Mace - I have two here and another on the way for Beth, temporarily giving me 4 - Colman disease??
Kabe & Muftak - maybe I can have a loose and boxed version, see above :-*
Oola & Salacious Crumb - see above, above

Sell off what I don't need and get $5 for each and I'm in pretty good shape.  $17.00 plus the shipping to get what I wanted :)

I can confirm that didn't exist, but I can also say that if you tried you likely COULD get Hasbro to mail you an A-Wing pilot.

I got ann AT-AT on clearance (super low) with no figures...  They'd been stolen.  After contacting Hasbro I got an AT-AT Commander and Driver in the mail, in plastic baggies.  Just like Kenner used to do back in the day, Hasbro held onto some extras in bags (at least pack-ins) during the POTF2 days.

This is likely what the seller has, and he's stuffed it into any one of the mailer boxes that were legit to other figures.

I got my figures in a padded envelope, in sealed plastic baggies, not a mailer.

I'd assume this is the Seller's scam, or he genuinely thinks this is legit.

From conversations I've had with the seller, I'm 99% sure he has no idea it's not a real item.  He's been very straightforward and honest about everything I've asked, so not really suspicious.  It was a decent enough lot for a reasonable price and filled in a couple of items I didn't have.  Completed my Cantina band as well.  More importantly, I can finally look at those accursed freeze frame slides without straining my eyes. :-X  An extra A-wing pilot, exclusive or not is just a bonus to me.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Budda bing, we have a winner.  SKU matches up just fine.  Still the figure is in excellent condition.  As are all of the items.

And the lot ended my head scratching on one item.  I picked up the HOF C-3PO and couldn't remember seeing this before, let alone owning it.  I was right, I didn't own it as it was in the millenium coin box that I had never picked up previously.

All stuff in this lot was in excellent condition.  In retrospect a little overpriced perhaps, but getting it all shipped separately would have cost me more.

Hey Wai,
nope, Dale was right.  It was just the regular pack in A-wing pilot from the A-wing ship POTF2.  He put it in holo Obi's box and sent holo-Obi in a plastic bag.
