Strange looking gun he's holding.

Is that new or from a different figure?  Looks a bit like an IG-88 vintage rifle or something...

Very interesting.  Cool looking packaging there!  So could a video game expert please fill me in on Battlefront?  When's it due out?  Is it coming for the PC?

Looks like an all-new gun there too.   8)

This one makes me a little nervous though, as far as potential price and distribution...   :-\

Coming for PC, PS2, & X-Box (around $50 at release).

I'd imagine that the figure will come with the PC version (the usual way they do things, consoles get no freebies), but that could be wrong.

Due in stores around Sept 21st of this year, BattleFront is an on-line Multi-player game much like Batlefield 1942 and the rest.  Lots of people running around pounding on each other.

A trailer and playable Demo is set to be included in the OT DVD set, so I supposed if you happened to pick up one of those by chance, you could try it out there and then buy the game if you like it.

I think the gun belongs to PotJ IG-88.

I chopped them up for comparison here:

Anyone else see that, or am I reading too much into tiny details?  It would make sense to me, because they are grinding out more IG88 weapons for his OTC re-card release...

Yeah, you're probably right Jeff.  Besides, I doubt Hasbro would ever want to spend the time and money designing and producing an all-new gun just for some rehashed exclusive video game pack-in figure...

I can confirm that's the gun from the game...  It's IG-88's rifle.  Good Eye Nataku.  I have no doubt Hasbro is just reissuing that accessory.

In SW EU IG-88's rifle is an Imperial issue blaster used for long-range firing.  Something of a sniper rifle if I'm not mistaken...  Or a more accurate rifle at least than some ther known "canon" Imperial weapons like the Sandtrooper blasters and Stormie blaster.

I believe Scouts, in the game if I'm not mistaken, are also snipers...  So that'd be that then.

Good call on the gun.

I'll be passing unless something entices me to pick the game up.  Being that this game's likely a multi-player focused game with little-to-no Single-Player value it's one I'm not particularly interested in.

It could have some SP features that improve it over a Battlefield 1942 Clone though, and in that case I'd like picking the game up and having this odd figure.

Video game figures are a good idea (to me), but I'd like to see NEW figures done as part of an EU line from video games...  KOTOR, Jedi Knight series, X-Wing series, Rogue Squadron Series, Battlefront, Bounty Hunter, Republic Commando...  there's room to dabble.  :)

So does the figure come packaged with the game, or do you get it free with purchase while supplies last?

Either way, I just got a whole new reason to buy Battlefront.

By the "Not for Resale" tag, I'm wagering it's something you get with the purchase.  I'd be surprised if it were somehow rigged to the packaging of the game itself.

They could give it a bigger package like they did with the game SOCOM Navy Seals. I think a package that big could hold a DVD case and a headset could also hold a DVD case and an action figure.

I'll try to find pics of the box I'm talking about.

EDIT:

Surely an action figure and a game case could fit into a box that big, couldn't they?
