Hey, Lets Post Pics That Are Fake
« on: June 24, 2004, 11:19 AM »
How many times in the last week has TheForce.net posted pics that turn out to be fake or old or from someplace else.  They were the place to go for EpI and EpII stuff, this time around they've been pretty crapola with the exception of their Darth Friday stuff last fall.  Turns out that guy was also the source of the pics we received this spring...

Its still amazes me that some of the ending hasn't been leaked yet and there are some pretty major plot points that haven't been officially uncovered...

Don't get me started on TFN. They've been in the toilet in just about every way for a long time now. Let me see...

Cross-polinization with RS daily. Now you can read non-news about toys, too.

Unchecked rumors posted as fact, daily. They used to at least have enough "ins" to verify the rumors they posted. Now, for example, a news post proclaiming "Sellouts Expected on SW DVDs" based on a guy that sent an email in, saying he worked at an Australian Blockbuster. If they can't use some common sense in posting crap like this, what good are they for Ep3 stuff?

Yesterday they annoyed the HELL out of me by posting pictures from a Star Wars and Troops screening here in LA that happened on Tuesday. They never, to my knowledge, posted news about the event occuring... until about an hour before it took place. I could have seen Star Wars on Tuesday night.  ::)

How about some forums that make RS look mature and civilized?

And apparently they're on the outs with even the marketing folks at LFL...

According to our sources, Lucasfilm hosted a press day today for long lead publications like magazines and international papers. The focus of the day's events were to give them an exclusive preview of the Classic Star Wars Trilogy on DVD. The official 4-disc set debuts in September with online and short-lead having their preview sometime next month or early August.

That's funny, because several online sites (some even fairly minor ones) were invited to this event. No "sources" needed to find this out. Sorry guys, the "short-lead" folks were there too, not next month. You've been passed over.

What, oh WHAT, happened to the glory days of "The Star Wars Page at Texas A&M"??? Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

Let's plug ourselves in 3rd person and ignore the integrity of full disclosure:

C2 Ventures, the company who brought you the massive autograph program at the official Star Wars Celebration II convention, is now proud to announce the addition of celebrity actors from the Star Wars Saga at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con.

Thanks for the scoop, TF.N!

Nice!  I love the cross plugging between the two sites too.  TF.N actually had a pretty cool Collecting section back in the day.  Too bad it went away when the Evil Empire took over

I remember visiting TF.N and JediNet daily from late 1998-May 1999. That was before I found CSW, RS, and Yakface.

Those sites were boss back then. But now, I'm not even sure JediNet exists anymore, and TF.N sucks save for the Humor section.

I can't believe I continue to go there, every day, like it was back in the day, thinking I'll get something useful. This was the top article in the News section just now:

ArticHeatUSA Vest Discounts for TFN Visitors
Tue, Jul 13, 04 12:17:44 PM EDT

We were sent the following discount info regarding cooling vests that costumers have been talking about. If you are looking at new ways to stay cool under Imperial armor or Jedi robes, this may be your solution.
Since we are fans of the Star Wars series we would like to offer a substantional discount to all your members.
The regular cooling vest price is $174.95, but we will supply to your members for $139.95 plus postage. Members need will need to quote TheForce.net in the message area when ordering online.

The website is www.arcticheatusa.com

TF.N... uh...

and they mispelled "arcticheat" wrong in the hyperlink, so it takes you to a dead link. They should go back to posting fake pictures.

Today's big TF.n lameness is the blindly foolish discussion of the "ROTS footage" put up on AICN. First off... are they so incredibly stupid that they believe AICN actually has a scoop? Second, if you look at the footage, its so blatantly a game cinematic that you have to laugh. The world is full of Mo-Rons.  ::)
