wow, that's a lot of bench players... why so many? there's more players on the bench than in the game according to that list.

This is my first time playing FF so I'm a little in the dark when it comes to the strategy of this...  We need WR, QB, RB and the like yes?  The idea is to have multiples so you can choose who to start right?  Does wanting multiples apply to defenses as well?

Multiples definately applies to Defenses as well, as you have to CYA on bye weeks.  It sucks to have no replacement and get a big zero when your defense is on a bye week.  :(

It's a godd idea, but not a requirement, to have multiples for all positions to cover those nasty injuries and bye weeks.  For 20 players, most ppl would draft:

2-3 QB
3-4 RB
4-5 WR
1-2 TE
1-2 Kickers
2-3 Defense

Just a rough outline of what you newbies should look for :)

12 Bench players seems like a lot, but with so many injuries and bye weeks, it'll really come in handy.

Zod, there are a total of 20 rounds, and you can view the picks for each round here.  Also, you can view more details about the settings of this league by clicking here.

Got it.  Thanks everyone.  Now lets get this thing rolling...

Yeah, it is definitely handy to have the bench players.  I think half of the years I've been in fantasy football leagues I've lost my qb to injury, and its nice to at least have someone to put in there.  Plus, like Jeff said, with bye weeks, injuries, etc., you can end up having a lot of open spots throughout the season.  Oh...and Famine is going to be changing his pick (since he picked an individual defensive player) right?  No hurry, I just wanted to make sure you guys weren't waiting on me.  I'm ready to pick whenever, at least I think I am :P.

Yes.  He's a QB.  He was the QB at Florida for part of the time I was a student there before Rex Grossman got promoted.

Definitely a QB...but to be fair, a backup one.  You of course can pick whoever you want, but just saying...if you want to pick a Giants qb, you might be better off picking Kurt Warner or Eli Manning, since they are more likely to play this year.  Or any other qb, or anyone else.  Like I said though, you are welcome to pick whoever you want.  I've got my pick ready, should I make it or give Famine a chance to change his (if he wants)?  Just trying to be fair :).

It will all come out in the wash Brian.  Make your pick.  I'm sure Kevin has something in mind with that pick, dark horse if you like.

Thanks all for the explanations of how this works, they are helpful.  You're going down Bronson ;D

Nice pick.  No surprise there either.  Though maybe the Minnesota guys wouldn't have taken him ;)

Oh well.

But just a general question:

Are we going to expand the rosters at all?  Right now we only have the following roster spots:

QB
RB
RB
WR
WR
TE

K

DEF

Is it possible to add maybe 2 bench spots after the initial draft?  Otherwise, everyone's going to have to deal with having no QB, TE, K or DEF or possibly dropping the player they drafted during a bye week.
