Wouldn't it be better to hack/pry the head off, sand the glue back down then reglue it back on and touch it up with some Testors paint!  :P

Wouldn't the goo gone loose/dissolve the glue first?  Then hacking/prying would be easier?  Not that it matters, none of us are bidding on it.

I wonder if the goo gone would eat the paint?

Thats actually what I woul dbe worried about. I can't imagine Glasslite using the best paint, i think it may damage it even more.

Hmm, good point.

BTW, goo gone left a fair amount of residue on the preview figures plastic.  Letting it dry and see if it wipes off, but might be something to watch.

I'm not really sure that would work out any better than the job that has been done already. I've used Goo Gone (and some other paint remover stuff, like Goof-Off and a few other products) and they all seem to leave at least a little bit of residue behind, aside from the fact that they also remove the slightest bit of paint from the original product to begin with. Plus, if you just put any of those products on the head/neck glue mess on that figure, the amount of time that would be neccesary to loosen the glue would defintely affect the paint on the head and neck itself, to the point where you would need to touch up the paint on those parts to make it look like a regular production figure again. And matching paint colors to paint that old is not exactly easy.

***wow, it took me like 15 minutes to type that, with all the backspacing I had to do to correct spelling errors... I've had a little too much to ddrink already I guess...

if u wanna loosen the glue, just dump the figure in a bowl of hot water, that should do the trick just fine.

as dave said, goo gone can **** things up, gotta be careful with it. good job dave, ya booze hound, *hiccup*! :P

I have to agree, I am not a fan of the whole grading thing.

It may sound strange, but AFA may be a benefit to those of us that are looking to buy carded figures, but want nothing to do with AFA.  Perhaps the AFA-graded cards will create a decreased demand for the ungraded figures, actually lowering prices (assuming more and more people prefer graded over ungraded).

If this were to happen, it would be good for the buyer, but not so good for the seller (of ungraded figures).  I only own one carded vintage figure but fully intend to collect vintage in the future - perhaps at that time prices will be more affordable?   Who knows what AFA will do to the hobby in the future.
