Original G.I. Joe -- 'grandfather of all action figures' -- up for bid

$600,000 for a doll?  Come on now...my stomach starts churning at the thought of paying more than $35 for a chase Sportspick let alone 17,000 times that for something

No way will this guy get that much

Oh my.  That's really quite, well, frightening.  I don't see it happening though.  Joe prices have dropped pretty consistently (talking about 12" true vintage stuff) for about the last two years.  I have a couple of nice MIB 12" Joes and a few loose ones I keep toying with selling.  More than a few accessories as well and I probably should have sold the whole kit and kaboodle two years ago.

Ya never know though.  Lottery wins, obsessive rich folks.  Who knows? :o

Be warned, there's 158 pages of auctions. Not all toys but comics & paperbacks & models kit's etc...For a zero feedback, he sure has a lot of stuff.

Sellers Auctions

That Gi Joe sure is one sweet proto.

According to the CNN article, the GI Joe's are from Don Levine & it looks like the comics & everything else is from John Petty of Heritage Comics from what I can make out.

Around the same time I was into baseball and football cards the first time (I quit for a few years and got back in '87)  I collected Topps Basbeall stickers as well.  My folks recently dumped a whole bunch o' stuff at my house (as I said in the Narnia thread) and while looking through it I came across my 1983 Topps Sticker Book

It is in beat up shape, players circled, torn pages...but I used to spend hours looking at it and admiring the different players

I then got to reminiscing about the fact that I only needed around 20 or so stickers to complete my collection so I looked and found these...which i won

Take a look at this weeks "Jango's Jargon", then revisit this thread!

Ok..eBay will be debuting a new Star Wars format in the coming months, and it looks like this is the rough draft.

Action Figures > Star Wars

Prequels (1999-Now)
    The Phantom Menace
        Figures
        Vehicles, Accessories
          Attack of the Clones
                Figures
                Vehicles, Accessories
    Mixed Lots
    Other
Neoclassic (1990-2000)
    Power of the Force
                Figures
                Vehicles, Accessories
          Power of the Jedi
                Figures
                   Vehicles, Accessories
          Mixed Lots
    Other
Vintage (1977-1989)
          Star Wars: A New Hope
                 Figures
                Vehicles, Accessories
          Empire Strikes Back
                 Figures
                 Vehicles, Accessories
          Return of the Jedi
                 Figures

Mixed Lots

They forgot the original POTF line, but did add Ewoks and Droids which is kinda cool. This means eBay really does listen!

There is a workshop Wednesday, 12:30 - 1:30 (PST) tomorrow, so click here to participate.

I for one think this sucks.
I liked the old way and I don't really see why there needed to be huge changes anyway. I took a look at ebay and did a few searches and all I can do is shake my head.

I'm sure you guys have seen these before, but here's an email I just received from "ebay"

SafeHarbor Pre-Suspension

Dear customer,

We regret to inform you that your eBay account will be suspended due to the violation of our site policy below:

* Misrepresentation of Identity (User) - Representing yourself as another eBay user or registering using the identity of another.

Due to the suspension of this account, please be advised you are prohibited from using eBay in any way. This includes the registering of a new account.

Please note that this suspension does not relieve you of your agreed-upon obligation to pay any fees you may owe to eBay.

According to our site policy you will have to confirm that you are the real owner of the eBay account by completing the following form or else your account will be deleted.

Our apologies for this unconvenience.

Thank you for using eBay!

Well, it's nice that ebay is policing such things, but unfortunately I've never done what they are suggesting.  Ergo, I believe this to be a scam of the first order.  The form to fill out is quite nice with all sorts of ebay links and logos, all of which would be pretty easy to duplicate with pretty minimal knowledge of HTML.  Well, that and a click and paste.

If indeed it turns out to be true, no big deal to me.  Though I would like to know where this supposed violation occurred?  Ahem.
