South Park Appreciation Thread
« on: December 2, 2004, 06:49 AM »
I find South Park to be one of my only guilty pleasures in life.  I look forward to every new episode, I always wath re-runs unless there's a show on I can't catch again, etc.

I just really like good old South Park, and I feel we should have a good South Park thread going.

So, did anyone catch tonight's new episode?

It revolved around Miss Paris Hilton, that bastion of morality and ethics.  :)

Great ending too.  Mr. Slave has become a truly valued character.  I thought he was a short-term thing, but he's become incredibly funny within the show.

Thoughts (of any kind) on South Park anyone?

I really like South Park, although my wife has banned it so I rarely get to watch it anymore.

She seems to think that the animated style coupled with the *ahem* adult language and themes might have a bad influence on our five year old.

Sheesh.

But I love it, and count SP: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut as one of the finest films ever.  It's the "Candide" of the twenty-first century.
"Really?  Sorry."

I was just coming here to start a thread of my own, Jesse! Wierrrrrrd!

Last night's episode was great. I love the way they're able to mercilessly rip on celebs and somehow not get their asses sued over it. I love the Lemmiwinks song used for Paris Hilton at the end, with the little "stupid whore" thrown in right before the credits. South Park kicks ass!

I have watched South Park since it first aired. Great show & a laugh a second. They have been showing the episodes at 2 am here & on my lunch break, South Park. A few weeks ago they started them all over from season 1, what a hoot!

I haven't seen any of the new episodes yet but will be looking forward to seeing them.

Last night's episode was really good.  South Park is the nastiest, funniest, craziest show on TV.  I am surprised they are able to play the movie on Comedy Central without getting nailed for it.

Watching the movie right now, actually.

I've loved South Park since I was in third grade, so you could say I'm corrupted.

SP's definitely NOT for children...  Especially after watching last night's episode, that's a more solid truth than ever.  Still, it's usually not on till late so the kiddies aren't generally up to watch it anyway...  Or not the kiddies around me.

SPthe movie is really vulgar, but definitely entertaining.  Not as generally creative as single episodes can be though, like Mr. Hanky's X-Mas episode, or the Underpants gnomes, etc...  The movie was kind of a mix of a lot of different aspects introduced throughout the series into one big mess.

Sadam Hussein was one of the greatest characters ever introduced though, and he came from the film.

"Heeeeeey Satan"  ***up pops...  something***   ;D  When I saw that in theaters, that was one of the loudest laughter bursts I've ever heard in a theater.  Too funny.  Then he did it again and it was even funnier.

If I had the $ I'd buy up the DVD sets...  Unfortunately I miss them when they're on sale all the time. :(

Pfffffft, didn't have anegative effect on me. Of course, maybe that has to do with me not taking it literally...

Non the less SP is integrated into our contemporary culture. It's just a shame a larger portion of the viewership dosen't get it.

I only recently started watching South Park (Around late last year). Sometimes I rank it higher than Family Guy on the scale of funniness...

Everyone around here seems convinced that the best episode ever is the one where Butters is the star, and follows his dad to a gay jerk off club. Me personally, I want to see the George Lucas parody episode where he screws with Raiders of the Lost Arc... ;)

Although slightly antiquated technologicaly, and as much as I enjoy the newer ones, the originals still rule. I remember when I was the only person who knew about Mr.Hankey...*looks whistfully into the distance*

Sadam Hussein was one of the greatest characters ever introduced though, and he came from the film.

Saddam Hussein's first appearance was on the infamous "April Fool's Day" episode, where everyone was supposed to find out who Cartman's father was, but instead was a whole episode of Terrance and Phillip called Not Without My Anus. That's why he has the Terrance & Phillip style head, where the top of his head bounces around on his jaw (Ike, Canadians) when he talks.

One of the best episodes ever, in my opinion.

D'oh, correct amundo...  I forgot his beginnings there.  Having just seen the movie on Secret Stash, I was thinking that was his opening scene.

Guilty as charged!!
Love this show first found it when switching channels , it was the big gay al episode, that show pushes so many boundaries
I think one of my favourite ones was the lord of the rings episode where butters got the porno movie and it became his "precious" that was priceless
The problem with America is stupidity I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself

Lord of the Rings one is great.

When token comes out and says "That's it...  I'm done...", claps his hands and holds them up and then goes in his house.

Then later when the parents confront him, try to explain "love & sex", and his reply...  Absolutely classic.

Cartman's remark to the kids playing Harry POtter was great too.  :)
