JD.com Review-A-Thon: Hoth Trooper
« on: December 13, 2004, 10:25 PM »

JD.com is proud to present our first ever Review-A-Thon...  It's a way we're going to clean out some old reviews we've got backlogged and get a little something for you, the viewer, to read over theholidays.

Today I'm kicking it off with the Hoth Rebel Soldier, since he's one of the older on the list, and one of the poorer.

Nothing like kicking it off with a dud!  :P

One of the worst figures to come out in years to me, the Hoth Rebel Soldier really has many failings...  Poor sculpt, poor pose, no decent articulation, no enjoyable features...  He really just is a lackluster effort from Hasbro on every level to me.

Feel free to read through, and share your opinions here!

I've not checked out the reviews yet, but I will. I just gotta say right now, that damn thats one hilarious banner for the review section! If you've known Jesse as long as I have, you can rightly appreciate it. Kudos to all on the review section!

Glad you like the banner... That's a Jesse/Brad collaboration.

it's an instant classic for sure!

i've read a couple of the reviews so far, namely the hoth trooper and dutch vander, and JJ is as usual frank and to point about what's right and what's wrong with these figures without sugarcoating or too much bashing. well done man!

Thanks man, it's appreciated...

I like to offer a little more of an open-minded opinion as far as "What could they have done...", so I always hope I convey that.  There's benchmarks set by other toy lines...  Hasbro is in competition for the almighty dollar like everyone else, so since I want Star Wars to dominate I think of things I point out as constructive criticism...

Some disagree.

Myself, I could care if some Hasbro employee's offended...  In the end it's his/her job to improve product quality, not have hurt feelings over my words. :)

And let's face it, I praise them when they deserve it...  They do lots right, just not every thing, or as often as they should/could.

Nice work, as always Jess.

But I wanted to add that I think the idea for that banner was originally mine - way back when.  I'll have to scroll WAY back through Jesse's review thread in the Admin forums to confirm that though.  But I think that was the deal, at least with the figures (good, bad, ugly) and all.  Can't remember if I coined that title too, but I'm sure I must've, 'cause I'm all creative and stuff, like that!   :P  Regardless, Brad's the one that actually made it happen though, so Kudos to his furry little ass for that!   8)

P.S.  Hoth Midget Trooper sucks MUCH ass, more than even the RFT, IMO.

That's all I wanted to say.  Carry on.
