Just checking in so everyone doesn't think I'm on suicide watch ;)

I was away for the weekend with no TV so I had literally no idea this went down until a friend called me to tell me about it.  Put a damper in my vacation, he did.

I don't know what to say.  I could say "**** the Yankees, I hope they lose big this year" or "The Sox have no one to blame but themselves.  They couldn't get the deal done and it bit them in the ass".  Since I'm still in a good mood about the Pats, this doesn't bother me right now as much as it would have if it happened closer to opening day.  But like Curt Schilling said yesterday, "The owners have done all they can and its up to the 25 players coming North to get the job done"
Common sense isn't so common

Heard that, too.

Unless Steinbrenner just overwhelms Maddux with loads of money, I think it's just Boras (Maddux's agent) trying to start a bidding war.

I guess Boras knows what he's doing... the Cubs upped the offer so now it's pretty much a lock Maddux will be going back to Chi-town.

Well, the Twins didn't get A-Rod, but at least we signed Dougie-Baseball to another couple years at First Base for us...

Spring Training baby, I have mixed feelings for this year, I expect the Twins to finish 3rd in the Central after Scrooge gutted the team (again)

ANyone hear this...

Canseco or can't he?
Jose Canseco plans to try out for the Dodgers, 2˝ years after his last appearance in the major leagues. The six-time All-Star will attend the Dodgers' open tryout on March 1. "Canseco's people called us," director of professional scouting Matt Slater said Feb. 24. "He's welcome to come." Canseco -- who won the 1988 AL MVP award and has 462 homers, 26th on the career list -- last played in the majors in 2001, when he hit .258 with 16 homers for the White Sox.
