Re: Brian Urlacher Signs 9-yr Deal!

Oh yeah I totally agree on DC, see the problem there though is that what were the Vikes supposed to do.  Let him walk?  Who were they going to sign to make them better?  They were caught and the fact that he did have an awesome 2000 a decent 2001 and improved after being benched for a game last year put them in a pickle.

The great thing about NFL contracts though is they usually are good for only 3-4 years and then they can cut the guy without serious reprocussions.

What I think is crazy is Terrell Owens demanding what he is, sure I love the guy but WR are a dime a dozen and should not be the highest paid player in the league. I think Moss is overpaid too but he is the star of the team (like Urlacher) and so they had to do it just like the Bears did

Scott, there were how many available quarterbacks that the Vikings could have looked at?  Of course that's not really the case now, but they could have picked a new quarterback from the bunch to try out at least.  Brian Griese isn't settling down in Miami, so he's completely available now.  If I were the Vikings I would maybe bring him into camp, just to see how good he really is.  Griese would make an awesome backup QB, but not a starting one.

What am I talking about... bring him into Chicago man!  We could definitely use a good backup QB, but Griese is probably looking for a home where he can be the starting QB.

Culpepper has the physical ability to be right up there with McNabb and Warner as the top 2-3 QB's in the game.  Unfortunately his head isn't there.  Back to Urlacher I guess I see it now like I said above as a move that they had to make, he is one of the top 5, he is the best player on the team and the fans would crucify management if he walked...

I agree that Urlacher is a great LB, but don't you think the absent of Roosevelt Colvin would hurt his production and vice versa?

Colvin signed with the Pats, which is excellent for us, because he's a top notch player, especially in the run stopping department, which is where the Pats sucked last year.  But from what I'm hearing, the reason they were both so good is that they played off each other's strengths and weaknesses.
Common sense isn't so common

What NFL team do you root for?  I know what a lot of people's favorite teams are, but there are many new members here.

Here's mine...

Hey Chris, we don't have an NFL team, so I give you the class of the CFL, the Montreal Alouettes. Hope you don't mind.  ;D

Alright SPORTS fans, name your teams!

NFL:
Raiders (lifelong fan, even before they ever moved down from Oakland long ago)   8)
Rams (my hometown team growin' up - still a BIG fan despite their move from SoCal)   :-\
Packers (just because my wife LOVES them - don't ask me why)   :-*

I haven't really had a favorite NFL team for awhile now, and have been trying to pick a team to follow.  When I was  younger, I was all about the Raiders (in the Bo Jackson/Marcus Allen/Willie Gault time)...but haven't followed them as closely anymore.  I need to find a new team to follow :).
