I agree, I'm one who wants to have all the seasons too (missing a couple right now though), and I would have preferred a more "uniform" look on the shelf.  If they wanted to do these "head" cases, they should have started them from the beginning.  Like you mentioned, I don't think the packaging makes any difference...its Simpsons, so it sells.

Should I rent The Machinist?  Looks and sounds like a good flick - must be, who in their right mind would go from this:

I straight up bought it without seeing it. Never regretted it.

TVShowsonDVD.com has some inside pics of that "Homer Head" packaging for the next season set (6) of the Simpsons. You can check them out at the linky above.  They also have a pick of the set "on the shelf" alongside the previous sets.

Hmm, that head looks okay with the others, at least better than I thought it would. I'm sure I'll like it more once the other upcoming seasons are put out in heads.

Very nice.   8)   That's gotta be worth a couple bucks.

We've played with the idea of getting one of these for long road trips for my daughter to pass the time - she loves her Disney and Barbie movies.   ;)

Just curious - how does the screen perform under bright light (sunlight that will likely be abundant during a road trip)?

Very well, you just have to adjust the angle of the screen so you can see the picture better or it comes out a little off color/fuzzy. I find the sound on mine older one to be a bit tinny if you use the unit speakers. I bought a pair of Koss speakers and the sound is incredible, really brings it out and you can crank it up louder.

I took my other one backpacking with me last year and the battery worked fine, nothing like a few brew and a flick in the middle of the mountains.  ;)

I looked on Costco.ca the other day and they had it listed for $189.99. CDN but it's out of stock.

This would be ideal for your self daughter.  ;)

Nice Dale.  We have a different DVD player for my daughter and it's ideal for road trips.  Much less boring for her now.

Speaking of winning things, I gave blood a couple of weeks ago and ended up winning season tickets to the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.  It's not something I'd necessarily buy, but I'm very happy to have won it.  Two tickets, about $450 value :)  Guess I'll have to get some kulcher.

Could be worse I guess...should've left well enough alone.

They're going to have to ditch the "head" idea after a handful of seasons because they have something like twenty or so to go yet and there are not enough "heads" to complete it!

*Sorry for the run-on sentence.   :-*

The original King Kong set to get a two disc release

Just in time for PJ's remake.  Will probably pick up the box set with Son of Kong and Mighty Joe Young in it.

A couple of kind of neat releases this week, but I'm not sure if I'll end up picking them up or not.  Its tempting for nostalgia's sake though ;):
