They gave the POTJ Duros out as a free figure to the first "X" amount of people in the door.

Not sure if EVERYONE got the same fig, but a bunch of us got him.

Ketwol, Duros, Shmi and Sabe are still on the pegs around here - TRU, go figure.

Great line, but prices were about as bad as they ever were up here.  TRU was charging $11.99 for them (Add the taxes and you're over $13) but that was about the only place to get them :'(  EB was the only place I found the Maul Sith Apprentice and they were worse - $14.95 :o  Walmart didn't step in until the R2-Q5 wave.

Surprisingly I didn't have too much trouble finding this line.  I paid a lot, but found pretty much everything.  The last two waves never came to Canada, but I found them in abundance in Seattle in '02 May, just prior to AOTC coming out.

Probably my favorite line of modern figures.  Even the misses were pretty good.

Yeah, I didn't see anyone with POTJ figs, Bob.  I did see a CT Han, and I saw POTF2 figures...  If I'd have gotten a droid like 2-1B or ASP-7, I'd actually have been completely content.  I love the ASP-7 droid actually.

Instead, Rebel Fleet Trooper...  Sheesh.

Anyway, I notice a lotta people around the net wishing for POTJ to come back, but as much as I like the line I really hope that only character choices are the kinds of things we see related to POTJ...  It's nice, but the line was still in the anti-articulation phase.  I'm actually pretty content with a lot of the OTC and POTC...  If the Cantina Wave from POTC were the standard, I'd be pretty happy in general.  Some figures may need an extra joint, or ball/socket over angle-cut here and there, but overall I liked POTJ for its time but its been surpassed in quality by many figures.  Even the ROTS line was an overall large improvement by direct comparison.  Comparing Agen Kolar and Eeth Koth alone makes me think along those lines.

I was thinking more along the lines of the character selection rather than the articulation.  Hasbro has moved forward, no doubt about it, with respect to making better figures for the same amount of money.  But POTJ was just so cool for the wide variety of characters with some really nifty features - Dagobah Vader, EW Vader, multi-head sculpt Officers.  No pregnant Padme, no crappy action features.  That's why I enjoyed it so much.  Just neat, well thought out selections of figures, for the most part.

I was a big fan of the POTJ line for the same reason.  Lots of the obscure characters/aliens.  and the common/main figures they did for the 10th time they seemed to do add a nice little touch to make them a little different, like chewie with his hands behind his back and the dejarick table, or Vader with the emperors wrath see-through helmet, etc. nice features, especially for someone like me who keep them carded.

I'm not a huge opener so I don;t necessarily look at figs in the same light as Jesse, where he really likes the articulation and customixing (occationally, if I get an extra fig as a freebie or a deal or trade, etc. I may open one here and there).
since I don;t open, I always like to hear his take on the figs.

Kind of a case where we both appreciate the figs, just for different reasons.  We each look at things in a different light.

Hard looking back to pick which line I really liked the best. They all had thier good and bad points.

I think the POTJ line was so good because Hasbro knew they had to kiss a lot of collector ass to get them to stay on board after Ep. 1. Since the ROTS line did a little better, I doubt Hasbro will go back to that formula.

Character selection was probably the best ever in POTJ...  OTC was a lot of redoing stuff that, today, sucked...  Dagobah Luke, Lobot, etc...  And of course the rehashes.  The Cantina wave of POTC ranks up there as the best wave of figures in the basic line ever though...  At least in the top 5.

THOSE figs are the type I'd like to see in the new line in 2006.  Heavy on articulation, and obscurity galore...  However, I'm also a huge fan of resculpting stuff...  There's little from POTF2 that (unless it's already redone) I wouldn't redo.  Nein Numb, Zuckuss, Piett, Endor Soldier, Hoth Soldier, Death Star Gunner, Tarkin...   All on my resculpt list. :)  That's a fairly diverse lot in and of themselves though so they'd fit into a new line well, geared at collectors.

POTJ's line was great character selection though for sure.  They even snuck in the main character EU designs which I actually liked.

And indeed, the astromechs, and the Imperial Officer, and FX-7 are all among my favorite figures in the line probably.  I still buy those Impy's anytime I see them.  I wish they'd re-release the Officer variants, or release them in grey uniforms even.  That'd be a whole new army to build.

Heh, Imperial Officers.  How hard can it be?  There shouldn't be any real costs involved in putting out grey uniformed officers, should there?  Simply take a Piett, Tarkin or other grey uniform and slap on the POTJ officer heads and you'd be done.  No retooling or resculpting needs at all.  Don't I wish.

I meant grey jumpsuited guys...  Just the POTJ/Saga guys, but in grey for "techies".

I want ALL new Impy Officer officers though...  as opposed to Techies...  But Hasbro's given us Ozzel, who ultimately is ok, but man he ain't what I want.

The Empire's in dire need of black, and grey tuniced Officers by the truckload.  Generic heads...  whatever.

Tarkin I kinda want separate, though a re-used body would be alright I guess, but I'd dig Tarkin with a little extra effort at the arms for that classic "contemplating" pose just before he dies...

My ideal Imperial Officer would be a resculpted Veers w/removable armor/helmet/belt/hat, and Hasbro then just re-used that figure for generic "troop builder" guys down the line but with new headsculpts.

That Veers just seems like it's a pipedream.  :(  Wish they'd surprise us with that one.

Well, with the rarity of the OTC Imperial Scanning Crew, it seems that there is definitely a market for grey imperial figs.  I know people buy a lot of stormies, clones, etc. for armies and dioramas, but there should be a better option for those wanting to recreate scenes involving the grey imps.  I would certainly purchase a 3 pack of imperials done the same way as the clone trooper 3 packs from Target...maybe with some color or rank variations?  Also different face sculpts and skin colors?  That would be great.  Hasbro is doing very well in my opinion with all of the Clone variations they are making available, I just wish we could have the same with some imperials.

Only what your heart says he's worth to you...

PS: He's not a Power of the Jedi figure, so try to keep focused on the POTJ stuff for this thread.
