Obi-Wan - 3.93"
Darth Vader - 4.72"
Stormtrooper - 4.33"
R2-D2 - 2.36"

Sounds like they're close enough to Hasbro scale to work for me.

This just makes me so damn sick... I long for a Death Star setup like this in an affordable price range.  But that price is just nuts.  Count me out.

Now, if they could come up with something that is in the $200.00 range, I'm in.  Until then, I'll continue to make my own or commission Owen D. for such items.

ANother update at starwars.com

http://www.starwars.com/collecting/news/misc/news20060303.html

So SWS.com is carrying a few of the figures, but I wonder if they actually plan on carrying the diorama pieces themselves?  Jared, I know you were interested in this, did you ever find a place to preorder it?

Wow, that is really something. At more than 90.00, Vader works out to nearly a quarter million dollars for the edition size of 2500. That should help recover some of the mold costs.
When you think about the cost of the statues, the diorama almost seems like a bargain. Big emphasis on almost there, in case you missed it.

Man, that Falcon is one sweet piece... it's detailed, it's to scale, it's perfect - too bad it costs a fortune.   :'(

I'm waiting on a US source to put it up for preorder. So far, none have that I'm aware of.

I found this pic at POTF2.com comparing the 3 3/4" Hasbro figure against the Attakus Metal figure - pretty close.

I finally got my hands on an Attakus Metal Darth Vader.  You wouldn't believe how heavy it is considering it's only slightly taller than a 3 3/4" scale figure.

He can either stand on the included base or on his own - here's the bottom of it:

Awesome comparison pic Jesse of the Vader figure...

Because of the Death Star diorama costing so much, I had to pass on it... but I think I am getting something better in return...

Check out these links - when I have the first two levels combined I'll take a couple pics -

http://www.owenscustoms.com/deathstarlevel1.html

http://www.owenscustoms.com/deathstarplaysetleveltwo.html

Plus 2-4 more levels are being made for me and it's all gonna cost a LOT less than the Attakus one.

Very cool Chewie!  I'm surprised that you're not making that yourself.

I wonder if Owen would give me a discount if he made duplicates.... :P

Well I love to customize, but I am not good at using styrene... Owen is the master.   :)

For those interested, here's level 1 and 2 stacked together that I was able to have Owen make for me.  With the price of the Attakus thing so crazy, this is the way to go for me.

That totally kicks ass!!  I love it.

I too am not crazy enough to buy the Attakus one; as cool as it looks it would blow my budget for many years to come.

Why can't Hasbro do something even close to as cool as this?

They keep dangling the carrot of rereleasing the old Kenner Death Star but big deal I already have three of those.  I guess it's too much to ask for them to actually make something original. ???

That's an interesting comparison shot there.  Thanks for pointing it out, Jess.  So these are a tad taller, but I'm sure the set pieces would still be practically perfect for the 3.75" Hasbro figure line.  I wonder if there's anyone just getting the dioramas for their Hasbro figures, and not diving into the Attakus diecast figures?  Those figures are pretty freakin' expensive individually, on top of the already insanely expensive dioramas.  But I suppose if someone's got the serious enough coin to buy the dioramas, they likely have plenty more where that came from to pick up all the respective diecast figures for it too...

Why can't Hasbro do something even close to as cool as this?

I think the better question (since Hasbro's basically refusing to do any playsets now), is why won't Hasbro pass the rights to making playsets along to Gentle Giant, Code 3, or Sideshow, to see if they feel like taking a stab at it.  Makes sense to me.
