Rob,

I don't think there's too much to prepare with right now.  As I've mentioned there are very few draft magazines about at this time - usually I can find a half dozen locally.  Even those in print are going to be outdated because of the free agency situation.  I'll grant you more experienced guys have an advantage, but it is unusually small at this point, especially for the first few rounds.

I think if you print off the yahoo list and take a look at NHL.com you'll find that the guys picked will be pretty much following the rankings, varying only by a little bit.  The lockout leveled the playing field to a very large extent.

As for the time, yes, it shows Eastern for me as well (1 hour ahead of central).

Jeff, no.  Unless I get Thornton, Forsberg, Richards and Turco.

Oy! Brainfart. I can't be here then, I'm supposed to go to a friends at 10. Suppose I give a list of my potential picks to some one, about 25 players, and have them pick for me, would that be fair?

Well that's fair, but make it 30 so we can do three rounds anyway.  We still have to hear from some other guys anyway, so may cancel yet.  I've a funny feeling this is going to be hard to schedule this way.

Argh.  I kinda assumed we wouldn't be having a draft this quick... I committed to a booze fest going away party for tomorrow night at 9:30pm board time.   :-[

Pain in the ass, ain't I?

Um, would August 30th work?

**** it.

When the online draft for football is over we start here.  This is going to be waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much of a pain in the ass.

A going away party for less than a week long trip? ::)

Define much?  Will you be able to check in and make a pick every other day?

I'm not seeing a lot of options presenting themselves.  12 weeks out and we're into the season. 4 weeks out and we're still looking at a live yahoo draft.

September's my busiest time of the year at work and my wife's too, so on top of being uber busy I need to be available for her and the kid as well.

New options:
Draft here slowly or one night online draft on yahoo.  I'll schedule the day.  If you're not there, tough, computer will draft in your absence.

Not sure, actually. I won't have access during the day at all, limited at night.

I don't really mind one of you guys picking off a predetermined list for me

Ok, I'm going to propose the following:

Live Yahoo draft.

Between 26-30 September.

I'll schedule a time, likely around 9-10 Eastern.

If you're there, great, you have 90 seconds to make a pick.  If you're not able to be there the computer picks for you.

The date gives Scott as much time as possible to move.
The date gives Rob as much time as possible to prepare.
Everyone drafts under the same conditions.
Everyone has five weeks to prepare.
I don't have to enter anything after the draft is over, leaving me with very little to do.

This isn't much different than you sending your picks to someone Scott as you can rank the guys ahead of time.  It's a bit of a pain, but if you take a look at the football team I ended up with from the spawn board it doesn't do a bad job.

I'm still open to a draft here at JD but I'll want to start it sooner than later to give Scott some time to be able to check in and draft on occasion for himself.  We do have a TON of time to draft here.

What can I say?  Everyone loves me and the store stops functioning when I go on holidays.   8)

Actually, it's for a co-worker who's going back to school.

I'm up for either set-up.  You're the boss.

Either way is fine for me too, but I'd prefert the live draft on Yahoo.

What night do you prefer?  That night actually coincides with my High School Alumni golf tournament, so I'm bound to be slightly impaired for the draft.  I'm not horribly opposed to moving it away from that day.  A weeknight is fine for me too.
