If we do a board draft, just don't start it soon (and by soon, I mean tomorrow).  I'm undecided on who to pick with the first pick.  I tried to find some fantasy hockey mags, but like Brent already mentioned, they ain't out yet.

Well then trade me the 1st pick cause I know who I'd take.   ;D

I say we start the draft on here ASAP and get the ball rolling.  Obviously a live draft isn't going to work for everyone.  The sooner we start the better off we'll be.

There are now live draft times available on Yahoo for 2morrow and Wednesday nite if anyone wants to try and get it together.

JD Fantasy hockey - draft is now underway - Round 1
« Reply #169 on: August 30, 2005, 01:46 PM »
Alrighty then.  This is an executive decision from your league commissioner:

We will be doing the draft here on JD in the traditional manner.

It is my belief we will not be able to find a suitable time for everyone to be online.

We are currently in no hurry.  If we get pressed for time, I may leave the four bench spots for free agency.

You need the following positions:
2 centers
2 left wing
2 right wing
4 defencemen
2 goaltenders
(4 bench positions)

Scoring is as follows:
Goals 1 pt
Assists 1 pt
Goaltender wins 1 pt (we could make it two for win, -1 for a loss :P)
Goaltender shutout 3 pts

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Round 1

1. Massholes (Mikey)
2. Canuckleheads (Brent)
3. Alwayslaggingbehind (Kevin)
4. SGC Airmen (Ryan)
5. The Zods (Rob)
6. Minnesota IceMuskies (Scott)
7. Klippers (Jesse)
8. Jeff's Hockey Team (Jeff)
9. Shocker Troopers (Jason)
10. Bushleaguers (Jamie)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- ROUND 2
11.
12.
13.
14.
15.
16.
17.
18.
19.

Jarome Iginla, RW

(Will this work like Football where the end of the first round picks first in the second round? (not that it makes any difference to the guys in the middle of the round...)

I think so - front to back, back-to-front.  If not, guy #10 (and more importantly guy #8) gets royally screwed.

And, RE:Scott -

He does not have 'net access at his new work and is in the middle of a move (Last Active:  August 28, 2005, 05:21 PM) and I don't think he has home 'net access set up yet.  I'll call him tonight (when both he and I are home from work) to let him know we've started the draft and I will see if I can get a pick from him...

Just to confirm, yes, 1-10; 11-20 and so on.  Definitely not screwing over anyone.

As for Scott, part of starting this as early as we did is because of Scott's move.  There's no real pressure to get many picks in any time soon.  It's nice to move quick, but I honestly thought Ryan was at school at this time.  I didn't even expect Kevin to be around until tonight either.  We'll get through this as best we can but I don't think we're in any big hurry until around mid-September.  If we can rattle off a couple of rounds a week, great.
