JesseV = ****** up Saskatchewanian

Your point is?   :P

Right now, it's 3:05pm board time, but I'm 2 hours behind at 1:05pm, so I guess board time is the same as Eastern.  At this time of year that makes me the same as Mountain.  If I didn't screw that up.   ::)

So perhaps 9pm board time would be best?

Well, I just went to grab a 2nd team on Yahoo (just a random public league) and the 1st draft time available is September 1st.  There is nothing listed for August for a live draft.  Better check to see if we can do it in August Brent, otherwise we're gonna have to figure something else out.

We could do it that first week of Sept, the 1st-5th, when Jesse isn't on vacation.

So we're doing a live draft?

How long does one get to decide?

I think it is about 90 seconds, but if you are prepared it is plenty of time.

I still say that this is a serious Disadvantage for first timers like myself.

That's why you need to research online or buy a fantasy hockey mag.

Jason's correct, first possible date for the draft is September 01.

Rob, I understand your point, but given there's been a year off and tremendous movement in the free agent market I think many advantages have been seriously reduced, if not eliminated.  We needn't draft with online Yahoo, but if we give guys four minutes per pick and do it here, then we're looking at 40 minutes per round.  That's going to be a mighty long draft.  So either Yahoo online or the old style like we're seeing here.  If we do it here, I suggest we start as soon as the football pool is done that draft.

There are online rankings with Yahoo and I'll be picking up a magazine as well.

Gooder.

I was thinking though that that mags (Playboy excepted) won't be much use this year.  Don't most magazines have three month publication windows?  i.e. they have to have their information in place three months or so prior to publication.  SI and weekly mags would be exceptions, but I doubt anything useful is going to be published prior to our drafting.

The football mag I nailed has been a godsend. The stats have stayed pretty much the same from what I can tell, and I have a very decent team this year.

Yeah, for the general stats the books should be fine.  There's always variability out there with guys even when they stay with the same team, so that variability remains just as unpredictable with guys on new teams.

I sent the names of the participants to Dale.  He'll be picking the order for the draft and posting it in this thread.  Don't ever trust a Canadian ;)
