I guess that did come off as kind of brutal, JV... I didn't mean to hammer on anyone, I just tend to make my points in very blunt terms, I guess.  ;)

I'm friends with most of the guys commenting in this thread, so I think they'll understand I'm not out to hurt anyone's feelings. We all tend to play nice here, unlike some other sites.  ;D

I agree; more power to someone if they want to spend that kind of money to get the figures a month or so early.  I think it's a waste of money, but for all the money I've spent on custom fodder I could afford these if I really wanted to.  But I don't want to.

Regarding the company, I have no problem with them, but I think that 9 out of 10 collectors wouldn't pay that to get the figures early, and I don't see how someone could think the price of these figures has anything to do with the president.  If Billy C. was still president, or Kerry had won, it's not like these would suddenly be cheaper.

Anyways, no hard feelings whatsover.  I think it's a waste of money, but if I was a rich man, I'd have a few of each already.   ;)

People have a right to dislike the opportunistic points of the hobby, but I say that reserving it for the scalper is better than the guy offering imported stuff.  The end result is that this is stuff not released yet and there's gonna be premiums paid to get that.

More power to anyone who wants to buy it though, and as I said before, "To Each Their Own" is the best way to look at it.  The buyer may regret the purchase or just finds satisfaction in being caught up nice and early.  No skin off my ass though, so that's fine by me...  The fat guy with mustard on his shirt that cleared Wal-Mart out of Clones though?  Yeah that schmuck should have the air let out of his tires...  Oh wait he can't afford a car.  Well someone should take his Filet 'O Fish off him.

The President comment had more to do with the stagnation of the economy and the weakness of the dollar vs. the Euro, etc. I daresay as disappointed and disgusted as I am in Dubbya, I still think America dodged a bullet with Lurch.  ;)

When you get right down to it, all of this is a waste of money. We're grown men playing with toys, for pity's sake. All of the money we spend on these things could better be spent on hundreds of things... but we choose what we want to spend our money on, and some of it is entirely frivolous.

There's a lot of custom fodder I'm dying to get my hands on with that new collection...but hey, I can wait until January.   :P

I'm gonna have to say to cut the political comments on all sides please.  That's a no-no 'round these parts whether you liked the monkey or lurch.

My spin on the whole thing is this: If you believe that a store charges too much... simply do not buy from them. This is a buyers market and anyone can charge anything they want. People will pay what they feel is fair, and not everyone will feel the same about prices. ToyRocket has recently joined our site as a sponsor and for that I am very thankful. DD made a great point; without online stores and their sponsorships, JediDefender would not be around. Period. It has always come down to this- no one forces you to pay for this site and no one forces you to buy from certain online stores. Hell, we don't even have the freaking annoying pop-ups. Cost and demand my friends.

Heh heh. Chimpy or Lurch. Funny.

What if you went with "none of the above?"  ;D

Political commentary ended, JJ.

Hey DD, I have to appologize for not being more tactfull with my statement. I certainly agree with your perspective on the matter though and in now way meant to bust your chops personally. My comment is more directed at those who think by getting stuff early, at any cost, is somehow a superior feat, but there is no way you could get that out of my general blanket statement. :P

Bah.  $30.00 is too much for these.    :-X

I do understand though that companies like this are major sponsors of many fan sites, so I apologize if it looked like I was ripping on sponsors in any way.  :)

Edited the title, I didn't realize it was a sponsor of this site.  It just seemed like a lot of dough to be spending.

Of course, everyone's entitled to their opinion.   Otherwise, JD wouldn't be the interesting place that it is.  :)
