Where in Alaska are you going Dave?  I lived near Fairbanks for a little over 3 years when I was stationed at Eielson.  I'd love to go back sometime!

I've been to every state with the exception of North Dakota and Oregon.

Doing a Vancouver to Whittier (Alaska) cruise, followed by a few days in Denali, and then fly out of Anchorage.  No Fairbanks.

I'm stoked for this trip.  Its been towards the top of my ultimate vacations list for quite a awhile.

Taking the kids (and going with 70 year old in-laws) which shouldn't be too bad unless people get sea sick.  Kids are old enough to do most things I would want to do anyhow, and there will be more riding than hiking to wear them out.  In a few years they'll be old enough to do some really adventurous vacations, which are more my style.  I'm not a sit on the beach kind of vacationer.  Give me some history to see or some awesome national park to hike through.

You may not be able to see Mt McKinley...during the summer it's covered in clouds a lot because it makes its own weather.  Still plenty of beautiful stuff to see!

We came to Boston for 9th Grade History class and made a swing down to the Mansions in RI (Breakers in Newport)...don't remember much beyond that
