Seeing "Ant Man" tonight. This will be the first "Comic Super Hero" movie I've ever initiated being willing to pay money to go see in the theater (I probably would have with "Guardians of the Galaxy", but just waited for Blu Ray). Fingers crossed. I'm counting on all of your opinions.

So how'd you like it?

I liked it. Didn't love it. It was very fun and funny. Ant-Man's cell mate/roommate was hilarious. I'm glad I paid to see it.

Oh and I lied, I did see the 3rd Nolan Batman in theaters because of how good the first two were.

A February release for Black Panther?  Wow.  February is usually where most movies go to die.  That is, unless, if Disney/Marvel are trying to claim a part of the year that generally goes un-served by genre films.

Maybe they will try tying into Black History Month?

Deadpool is coming out this February.  Maybe they're trying to make it a viable month?  I know Titanic did monster business in February, mostly because there was zero competition.

February should be ideal for a big movie launch.  People are past the holidays, but it's still too cold to hang outside.  They need some kind of window between Christmas launches and May without landing movies right on top of each other.  That's essentially Valentine's weekend too, so either a good date movie or a place to go if you don't have a date.  Tying into Black History Month for the panther is icing on the cake.

The rights to another storied Marvel comics character have reverted back to Marvel Studios.  According to Joe Quesada, the rights to Namor, the Submariner now lie with Marvel studios.  The rights to Namor had been previously held by Universal Pictures, which at one point had rights to the Hulk as well.  You can hear the interview with Joe Quesada on Kevin Smith's Fat man on Batman podcast.

There are also rumors circulating that actress Brie Larson is in talks to play Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel.

Actress Brie Larson has been confirmed to play Captain Marvel!  The news came at the Marvel Cinematic Universe panel at SDCC last night, and Brie Larson received a standing ovation following the announcement.

That is excellent news.  I love her character and can't wait to see what Marvel cooks up for a solo story (or what other heroes get included, since that's become the norm lately).

A Black Widow movie appears to be in development, and a screenwriter has been attached to the project.  The writer's name is Jac Schaeffer, and she's written two projects that have been attached to Ann Hathaway.  But thus far the project has not been greenlit.
