Dr. Strange casting rumors

Probably the most interesting quote from the article:

The site adds [director Scott] Derrickson originally came onboard the project as a writer only, and the tone will be similar to that of "Iron Man".

Dr. Strange was name dropped in Winter Soldier, so it's going to have to take place after he's already somewhat "established" (the origin told in flashback, somewhat?  I dunno...).  In that case I can see an older actor taking on the role.  Depp would be just fine, but I love the idea of Viggo Mortensen, personally.  I'd never thought of Jared Leto as mentioned in that article, but I could totally see that as well.

Not quite sure what is meant by the tone being similar to Iron Man, though.  I just don't quite see the Sorcerer Supreme movie being such a straight up action type of show.  There has become something of a Marvel movie formula, where they feel a lot alike.  That changed with Winter Soldier, which was much more like a spy thriller, and with Dr. Strange they could take it into a whole other arena...not necessarily make it a "horror" movie, but a supernatural type thriller.  I think that'd be cool.

DC's Rumored Movie Line-Up/Plans, which they will apparently reveal at SDCC next month.

- May 6, 2016 = Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
- Jul 2016 = Shazam! solo film
- Dec 2016 = Sandman solo film
- May 2017 = Justice League
- July 2017 = Wonder Woman solo film
- Dec 2017 = Flash/Green Lantern team-up movie
- May 2018 = proper Man of Steel sequel

If it's true, man that's a lot of DC movies in a 2-year span.  Keep throwing things at the wall until something sticks, right DC?

I read that and sort of thought the same thing Jeff.  There are a lot of DC heroes I'd like to see on the big screen, several of them listed there, but it sometimes seems like DC/WB is just trying to keep up with Marvel and not really thinking through their choices.  They seem really desperate to get the Justice League out, hopefully it will be good.  The Flash/GL movie does interest me, and Wonder Woman is long overdue. Funny no mention of a solo Batman movie in there, but I'm sure he will show up elsewhere.

How are the scripts on those other two 2016 films?  Who's directing?  Seems like the ball should be rolling on both.

I'm finding rumors online that I can't believe I haven't seen here already.  Evangeline Lilly as Janet Van Dyne????

Perfect. Move.

Evangeline Lilly is on the cast list for the movie's IMDB listing.  But there's no character name associated with her entry.  In fact, the only character names on the list are for Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym.

Yeah, but look at that and tell me that she's been cast as anyone else....

She certainly looks the part.  But then I remember all of the speculation about this one actress who was in Iron Man 3.  People were saying "Oh yeah, she's going to be the Wasp!"

Clearly, Evangeline Lilly is a more established actor.  And Wasp is a significant player in the Pym character arc.  Do I think this is a strong possibility?  Sure.  And I'm interested to see if Wasp would potentially carry forward into the broader MCU and the Avengers.  I think we'll probably know things with a greater level of certainty following SDCC2014.

No complaints here.

He's got the goatee for it, no doubt.

Still like the idea of Johnny Depp in this role, but Hawke could be good.
