Luuke looks like they may reuse his upper body for a new ROTS Obi-Wan

Other Toy Lines / Re: 2024: What Are You Collecting?

I have really cut back over the last few years too, due to both space and financial reasons. I was laid off last summer and sold a ton of Black Series and Marvel Legends on Mercari to get by. It really does create a snowball effect because now I want to get rid of 90% of what I own and condense everything down to 2 bookshelves or so. I've had a ton of internal dilemmas about Star Wars, mainly which figures to keep, and whether or not to keep alternate costumes (i.e. Yavin Luke and Stormtrooper Luke as opposed to just having Farmboy Luke, Bespin Han vs ANH Han, etc.).

Hasbro Star Wars: I made the mistake of hopping over to 6 inch from 3.75 inch, but I haven't bought anything since 2021, maybe early 2022, and it will likely continue that way. I'm trying to downsize like crazy so I'm planning on getting rid of most background characters and army builders. I also have my entire TVC/3.75 inch collection at my parents' house that I need to go through and sell. I want to get rid of everything outside of a few vehicles, and maybe the main OT crew to put inside the BMF.

Hasbro Marvel Legends: I managed to sell all of my duplicates outside of a few Spider-Man figures, but I'm still interested in any Spider-Man characters, and to a lesser extent, X-Men. Most of my main display X-Men figures are Japanese imports, with ML filling the gaps. Interested in a few of the X-Men '97 figures, and I'll buy anything based on the Raimi movies and 90s Spidey animated series. I'm debating going back and getting Andrew Garfield Spidey and the Final Swing Spidey but for now I'm happy with just Tobey Spidey.

Bandai SH Figuarts: These are my "main display" figures. I have the TPM 25th anniversary Qui Gon and Maul on preorder, and will continue to buy the 1-2 Star Wars offerings they put out each year. Last year I only got the Obi-Wan and Vader based on the Kenobi final duel. Both great figures! I do want to get rid of some stuff that is inferior to the Hasbro figures, such as Count Dooku, but I have almost every figure made from this line and my OCD hates that idea!

MAFEX: I really only buy their Marvel comic book figures, and only go after Spider-Man and X-Men figures. I didn't get to buy the Scarlet Spider that came out in 2023 because of my layoff, but with the Hasbro ML version on preorder, do I really need it now? Time will tell! There are a few cool Star Wars offerings coming, all based on Mandalorian S3, but do I really need to pay $100+ for a slightly better Bo Katan? Another Mandalorian? I think I counted the other day that I have 8 across 3 lines, so unless reviews come out saying those are the best figures ever, I'm skipping them.

Hasbro Indiana Jones: I never got into this line because I went all in on the 2008 line. I did pick up the SHF Indiana Jones, and I'm hoping that the Adventure Series hits Ollie's or Ross because I want to track down a Marion, Short Round, and Henry Sr. for cheap.

McFarlane DC: I own a ton of the DC Collectibles Batman TAS line from 2015-2020, and Todd has been rereleasing some stuff exclusively at Target. I picked up the Scarecrow rerelease a few weeks ago because I missed the original version of that one. There's an Alfred exclusive coming at some point, which is nice because that was originally only available in a Haslab priced Batcave set. After that, I just need to hope Todd rereleases some of the figures I don't have!

That is a good point about the bad bets. Do we know how much Hasbro invested in the plastic-free packaging? Good idea, but of course swappers ruined it.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: How Many States Have You Been To?
« on: December 13, 2023, 02:49 PM »
I'm hoping to cross a few states off the list with a new job I have that involves a lot of travel. I also have some planned trips to some of the other missing states. Next trip is tentatively planned for September to Denver, depending on how Covid is at that point.

Update for this list. Boy did that job wind up being a disaster for my life. But I digress:

Texas - Born and raised, live here
Florida (6 times)
New Mexico (4 times)
California (8 times)
Maryland (2 times)

New Jersey (2 times)
New York (4 times)
Oklahoma (1 time)
Kansas (1 time)
Tennessee (1 time)

Changed planes in:
Colorado

Countries:
USA (live here)

So 28 states, plus a US territory and DC. 5 countries total.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Tough Times at Hasbro

Hasbro seems like a mess in general these days. Their supply chain management is beyond FUBAR, as you probably already know from the piles of figures showing up at discount stores like Ross and Ollie's. My local retail stores have had empty pegs for Hasbro's lines going on over 2 years now. For example, I have never a single plastic-free packaging Star Wars figure at retail. I only saw the exclusive Indiana Jones 6 inch figures but nothing from the main line. On occasion I see Marvel Legends, but it's rare. I'm still not sure if my local stores are just managed poorly (said stores are still having issues stocking things like milk and toilet paper) or if it's 100% on Hasbro. Either way, this is not great news.

Well of the Souls / Re: Hasbro 2023 Indiana Jones 6" Adventure Series
« on: December 6, 2023, 03:38 PM »
I did pretty well avoiding this line. Combination of not wanting to get involved after the 2008 fiasco, and retail stores here never actually putting any product out (I only ever saw the Target exclusives on pegs).

I did pick up the SH Figuarts Indy, but I'm staying at that. I do want to get Henry Sr and Short Round from the Hasbro line though, but I'll hold out for some deals.

I picked up one of this year's offerings, which are all based on the Snowspeeder pilot uniforms. I ended up getting the lightweight jacket modeled after Luke's pilot jacket. It's my favorite Luke outfit, so I had to have it!

The ski gear looked cool but was waaaaaaay out of my price range.

Yeah I sure am a self loathing Star Wars fan who hates everything Star Wars related! What with owning multiple copies of every movie across multiple media platforms, nearly 3 decades worth of collectibles in my possession, etc.

You clearly missed my earlier post where I said I enjoyed SOME things on the show, such as the interaction between Obi-Wan and Owen, and Obi-Wan seeing the homeless 501st on Not-Nar Shaddaa. I'm not sure why people like you just can't accept other people criticizing things. It's a TV SHOW. In addition to being enjoyed, it's meant to be criticized, analyzed, etc. And the best part is that it's subjective! I can feel free to say that the forest chase with Flea and Young Leia is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen in Star Wars, and you can feel free to disagree entirely! But people like you for whatever reason won't accept ANY criticism whatsoever, and you can't even defend this show without resorting to personal attacks. Why is that, I wonder?

Good lord do I miss the days where the biggest debate in Star Wars fandom was what color Han's coat is.

There are better TV shows and movies to watch, so I'll go seek those out instead. Just like there are better posters here on JediDefender who aren't pieces of **** like you are, GrandMoffNick. I'll go interact with them instead.

We should also all know that's how SW fans determine what's good and what sucks. Whether it fits our expectations. I think I would have been very bored with your version Diddly.

That’s all fine with me, man. Frankly I was pretty underwhelmed by what we got with this series, and I’m pretty disappointed in how it ruins a lot of lore of the OT. Maybe by voicing my displeasure, one day the bar for good Star Wars content will be raised. Maybe not. We’ll see.

I'll be honest, I really hated the first half of the series and couldn't even gather the strength to watch episodes 4 and 5... until I finally decided to binge the last 3 episodes last night. I didn't really care for it at all. I guess I was expecting something more simple, like Obi-Wan having to save the Lars family from some Tuskens and having to face the guilt of slaughtering a tribe like Anakin did. Instead we got a ripoff of Jedi: Fallen Order for most of the series, with the added bonus of Obi-Wan coming off as a jerk (leaving the Lars alone after someone with a lightsaber attacks them!) and Bail Organa coming off as the galaxy's biggest idiot (WHAT WAS THAT TRANSMISSION ABOUT LUKE'S LOCATION?!?!?). Oh and Qui Gon looks dumb too, because who knew you could survive a lightsaber stabbing by thinking about revenge?

I guess I need some time to process things

Like he couldn’t have snuffed out those flames using the Force? I think that ending could have been scripted a little more effectively.

This was so stupid to me. Like, Vader puts the flames out with the Force... then 30 seconds later he can't do it a second time? Just stands there when he could have done a Lightsaber throw or something?

The only thing stupider was that shot of Obi-Wan running away from Vader, to the side behind the hill. Then they cut to Obi-Wan running back to the same spot like he forgot his cell phone, but they pretend it's a different area. I'm pretty sure they didn't even bother moving the camera or changing the background

Ugh, I guess I am the only one who REALLY did not like last night’s episode. I feel like there are two things at odds with each other going on in this show. One, the internal plots and characters and events, but more importantly how all of this activity dovetails with the rest of the movies.

They are doing an ok job with #1 but #2 is really starting to bother me. I won’t go more into it than that for now, but man, so much revisionist stuff happening.

You are not the only one. I'll delve into more spoilery thoughts later, but while I thought the episode was better than 2, it still left me wondering what the writing staff was thinking. It really felt like a first draft script at times.

And are the tax breaks really that much that Disney will forego creativity in favor of shooting in what is obviously California?

Are there any new parts on this Vader? It looks like a repack of the 40AC/2017 #45 Vader to me, but I can't remember little tiny details about the costumes anymore.
