Other Toy Lines / Robocop (Hot Toys): Mini Review and Photoshop Pics
« on: September 11, 2006, 09:45 PM »
Here's a mini-review of the Hot Toys Robocop 1/6 scale figure being distributed state-side by Sideshow Collectibles.

Paint Application: 5

Perfect paint job (with one exception...it's at the very end of the review).  Very metallic in appearance and even has some color shifting properties.

Articulation: 4

Granted, Robocop doesn't have the full range of motion that regular humans would have, and that translates over into the figure.  However, there are certain moves that Peter Weller pulled off in the film that the figure can't do such as swing his arm back at a greater angle or cross his arm across his chest.

Sculpt: 5

While I'm sure it's not 100% accurate to the original Robocop suit, the figure is beautiful designed.  The rubber parts of the film suit are actually rubber on the figure.  The armor is made of harder plastic.  The details are all etched into the figure's body as well as painted.

Easy of Assembly: 3

This is technically a model kit along the same lines as a Kotobukiya model.  Robocop comes with the following parts:  head, torso, arms, legs.  The head is a severe pain in the rear to attach for two reasons.  First, the neck joint keeps slipping around.  Second, you have to be mindful of where your hands are on the torso because the connector rings near the neck are very fragile.  One slip, and you'll break them.  The head took me nearly 20 minutes to attach.

The arms and legs...they're a breeze, but do attach the non-holster leg first.  That way, you can put pressure on it while attaching the more fragile leg.

Fun Factor: 5

This is the ultimate Robocop!!!  Fans of the character will not be disappointed.  You'll see just how much fun I've had with this figure in the Photoshop pictures that I'll be posting very shortly. :)

There is one caveat with this figure.  When the figures were made, the factory made a grievous error.  More than just a few of the heads were placed in the plastic packaging trays before fully dried.  Therefore, many Robos have varying degrees of paint damage on the head because they stuck to the packaging.

Terrible quality control, but I didn't let it detract from the awesomeness of this figure.

Watto's Junk Yard / Cautionary Tale about Corner Store Comics
« on: August 28, 2006, 03:03 PM »
If this is in the wrong section, I apologize, but I wanted to let my fellow collectors know about the problems I've encountered with Corner Store Comics regarding my Hot Toys Robocop figure.

First, they completely skipped over my pre-order when the rest of the orders were processed. The error wasn't even found until I called last Tuesday to find out what was going on. While polite on the phone, they never did clearly explain why the order was skipped.

OK...mistakes happen...no problem...

At that point, I was immediately charged for Robo and told that they would upgrade me from UPS Ground to USPS Priority at no extra charge because of their error (it was a free shipping item) and it would be sent out last Wednesday.

When I didn't receive the figure today via USPS, I called CSC again to get the tracking number. At that point, I learned two things:

1) They still shipped it out UPS Ground...not USPS Priority as promised.

2) According to the tracking info, it wasn't even shipped out until last Friday...two days AFTER the promised shipping date and three days after I was charged.

While they do have a nice selection of products at decent prices, I'd think twice about ordering from them in the future if I were any of you. In fact, I'm finished with them. I'll order from Dark Shadow, Fireside, or other retailers in the future.

Just wanted to get that out there as a warning to others.

In order to help dig up some funds for upcoming pre-orders, I want to sell the exclusive Darth Sidious hologram accessory that came with my SSC Anakin Skywalker.  This is for the hologram only.  I would be willing to do a box swap, but mine is not mint.  It arrived with a few dings, and it's gotten banged up a bit more in the meantime...so I can't in good conscience include that in the sale.

Since this is for the hologram only, it's difficult to assign a price tag to it.  I hope everyone realizes that I'm not out to scalp this accessory and I am trying to fair (but at the same time make it worth my while).

I'm asking $25.00 OR BEST OFFER for the hologram.  Shipping is extra, but it's so small that I can easily mail it USPS First Class, which is pretty cheap.  Tracking is included automatically at no charge to you (like the $0.65'll kill me...LOL).

I'm also selling a Darth Sidious .45 scaled lightsaber.  It's currently on display but in excellent condition.  I also have the original box, COA, etc.  I'm asking $18 plus shipping for this.

Second is a long SOLD-OUT autographed Dave Dorman lithograph: "Darth Vader - Dark Lord of the Sith"  (number 267 of 1500).  I got it when I was in 9th grade, so I didn't have the foresight to save the Cert. of Auth.

I'm asking $50 or BEST OFFER for this piece.  Frame is not included, but it's a crappy frame anyway!! :D

Shipping is extra on both pieces (tracking included).

I can provide positive feedback if requested.

Either PM me or e-mail me at sithlord0498@gmail.com if you're interested.

Thanks!! :)

BTW, it would have to be check or money order only.  I don't have Paypal simply because I don't trust it. :)
