Watto's Junk Yard / Sigh...The Family Truckster
« on: July 31, 2003, 02:00 PM »
Wifey put her foot down last Spring that she would not be driving my Mustang this winter to work after she went in the ditch with it.  I am inclined to agree with her so the hunt has begun for a new car

BEing on the road quite bit the past few months I have been able to test drive quite a few different models (Toyota, Dodge, Ford etc) for an extended period of time.  I'm thinking of getting a 4 door sedan as opposed to a SUV, pseudo-SUV or Wagon.  Taurus, Saturn L Series (we have a Saturn S Series now) and Toyota Camry are leading the way right now.

I am just in denial that my sportscar will be gone in a few weeks replaced by a 4 door Taurus or Saturn and it makes me sad...

Anyone have a similar experience or recommendations for me :'(

Watto's Junk Yard / Dream Toy Runs (I had a great day)
« on: July 30, 2003, 09:02 PM »
Ever have that toy run that you sometimes only dream about???

Today started off with promise and ended like none I have ever seen before...

I started at my local Target (2 blocks down the road)and picked nada but saw parts of Simpsons Wave 13 (this I have on order from Newforce).  Wow I thought great start

Went to the next Target and found the new Spiderman and Daredevil from the Spiderman Classics line.  Wow 2 for 2!

Next Target before I had to start work I found a literal motherload...  Wave 1 of Simpsons 2 Packs, Zipline Batman and The Jedi Council Screen Scene.  Wowza!  3 for 3!

So I decided to head out again after work thinking what the heck why not...I headed north and stopped again at Target...Joker (which I think looks awesome) the Geonosian Screen Scene and Sam Gamgee in Orc Gear.  My head was literally spinning.  4 stops, 4 finds!

There is another Target sorta on the way home...I thought what the heck...I walked up to the aisle, and sitting right on the front peg was Goliath.  Unbelievable, I seriously almost fell over.

It was a dream day and one I will never, ever duplicate.  The only bad thing was all the $$$ I dropped...good thing was I filled a lot of wants and I literally have nothing to hunt for for a long while (yeah right)

Hall of Justice / Mattel Batman
« on: July 30, 2003, 03:48 PM »
Another impulse buy today was the latest Mattel Batman (The Zipline version)

What a great figure this is, sculpted by the Four Horseman (Same guys who do MOTU) it looks like the Batman people have wanted forever.  Looking at what else is in the line though makes me cringe...

A line I probably won't collect but a figure I couldn't pass up!

Other Toy Lines / Lord of the Rings: Armies of Middle Earth
« on: July 29, 2003, 10:38 AM »
I saw the Battering Ram set with Uruk Hai and the Catapult with more Uruks last night at Target.

I told myself time and time again that I cannot and will not like these because I don't have room

But holding them in my hands and inspecting them made me drool over the detail that Play Along has put into these little guys

Anyone seen the Helm's Deep Playset...OMG what a masterpiece that is

True too for the Balrog/Gandalf scene which may break me and make me get some of these

I may also just complete a set of the Fellowship and call it good.  Try and finish out the Toy Biz line with some key pieces and be done with it all

So...what do we know about this guy

Senator from Alderaan
Adopts Leia
The Diary hints that he makes a dramatic escape from Coruscant is this with Baby Leia in tow???

This record had stood for over 20 years!

Great work dude...

Which reminds me anyone think George would have eventually gotten the Frogger world record?

After convincing management that this section is a must have tonight is the debut!  Welcome and feel free to discuss any non-SW toy lines here!

We'll try and keep the lengths of the threads at a minimum and perhaps a running tally of threads on said topic.

Now lets talk toys! :-*

Watto's Junk Yard / The Wiggles!
« on: July 16, 2003, 03:46 PM »
My son (16 months old) recently fell in love with 4 crazy guys from Downunder called Wiggles: Jeff, Murray, Anthony and Greg.  Tack on a Crazy Pirate Captain Feathersword, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus and Dorothy the Dinosaur and you have the biggest thing since Barney

Their show is on the Disney Channel two or three times a day in the mornings, they have a slew of tapes, CDs and DVDs out as well

Well, what brought this all up is that we are going to a Wiggles concert in August which is one of 4 sold out shows.  Tickets to the shows are being scalped on eBay for $100 a piece!  It is amazing, and the momentum is just starting.

Anyone else involved in Wigglemania?

Announcements / Other Toy Lines and You...New Forum Section?
« on: July 16, 2003, 03:29 PM »
We here at JediDefender have come to realization that most of us collect other things besides SW...McFarlane, Simpsons, LOTR, Charlie Brown ???, etc etc

So, we have been kicking around the idea of starting a new section on the forums which deals with these lines and removes that talk from Watto's

Watto's will remain the place to talk about What You Look Like, Llamas, Current Events, Sports, Politics  :P, Music, Movies and everything else

So we are putting it up for debate and seeing what you the gentle readers and members of the site have to say

In the words of an infamous doofus

Thoughts?[/i]

What Line hasn't been made yet but you wish someday a manufacturer would pick up the license and run with it

For me I have the following wishes:

Indiana Jones Preferrably by Hasbro and same scale as SW
Ghostbusters Movie line not the cartoons, very realistic...I'm thinking McFarlane
The Goonies One of my favorite movies and would make for some neat figures
M.A.S.K. Re-Release, these were the best toys of the 80's behind GI Joe in my book, up the scale to 3 3/4" and bring back a new cartoon...mmmmm

And right now at #1 is Sesame Street style Muppets figures

Someone is sitting on a serious goldmine
