The Vintage Collection / Re: TVC and Tariff Pricing

The current tariff rollback is for 90 days.  The treasury secretary said that a more permanent agreement was currently being negotiated between the U.S. and the Chinese.

As for Hasbro or Kenner manufacturing in the U.S.?  There's a pretty well known photo of some lady assembling a Millennium Falcon back in the Kenner days, and it looks like it's a domestic factory.  But the commentary that I've seen linked to that photo also indicate that a lot of the parts were made in Hong Kong, with final assembly here in the U.S.  I can imagine the reason was it was less expensive to ship the parts from HK, rather than do final assembly and packaging there.  The final product would probably occupy far more space in shipping containers compared to the parts.

The news this morning is that talks between the U.S. and China in Switzerland have the two countries agreeing to temporarily slash tariffs.  The U.S. tariff on goods from China will be cut to 30% from 145%.  The Secretary of the Treasury said in an interview this morning that he expects there to be a longer term agreement negotiated in the next few weeks.

Sam Witwer discussed the show a little bit on Katee Sackhoff's podcast.  The big picture is that he's been on the project for about a year.  Dave Filoni is in an EP role, and Brad Rau, who was one of the lead producers for The Bad Batch is helping lead the way.  And it should be dropping in 2026.  Beyond that?  Listen to the podcast.

I was thinking the exact same thing about all of those satchels that came with the Razor Crest.

It's a pretty cool armored vehicle, and the design definitely evokes the aesthetic that George Lucas had for the Empire during the Original Trilogy.

LOL!  Without a doubt!  How many of the Ghorman Front could you fit into a multipack???

And then I saw people going back and forth about the Imperial Troop Transport as a vehicle - should it have the bags on the outside like on Mina-Rau, or not, like it's seen on Ghorman?

I was hoping for Kelnacca, personally.  The TBS figure gave me some hope, but I just don't know if LFL and Disney want to urge Hasbro in that direction.

With all of the discussion of the ANDOR wishlist, does it seems like a good time to consider some 2025 wishlists?

Got that notification as well.  And it leaves me wondering if this will be the final figure from The Acolyte that we might see in TVC?

I'm also wondering if this Obi-Wan Kenobi is a sign of things to come.  It's largely based on the VC290 Obi-Wan Kenobi (Showdown) figure, but now with the more PT accurate lower body / boots.  Is Hasbro going to start cranking out some PT Obi-Wan figures (and other Jedi) based on this new Jedi buck?

One thing I was thinking was, I'm surprised they didn't unpack an E-Web on those poor citizens... of course, that would have been gruesome.

And the KX droids tossing the Ghor around like ragdolls wasn't?

At first I thought that perhaps the Imperials were going to use the KX droids in a similar fashion to what we saw in that flashback to the Night of a Thousand Tears.  But the droids had no blasters - just overwhelming brute force.  Seeing Enza tossed like that was just crushing.

Story arc three was awesome, and glad to see Ruescott Melshi show up at the very end, although I didn't catch the significance of the blaster that he had that Vel seemed to find interesting.  Can anybody fill me in on that?

I couldn't wait for you smart people to answer so Reddit filled me in.  Apparently this is the blaster (with a Pre-Mor security emblem on it) that Cassian had on Aldhani and gave to Melshi on Niamos when they parted ways.

I thought it was one of the weapons that Cassian had on him when he got to Aldhani.  The scene where he found that Skeen had gone through his things was really tense, and they examined his blasters pretty closely.  Vel was right there when that happened, and the corporate security markings were something I remember Skeen talking about.  Nice to see a detail like that resurface as Vel was taking in the new recruits and Melshi still had that blaster in his possession.

TV-9D9 / Re: Andor (SPOILERS possible)

Genevieve O'Reilly has a long history with the part of Mon Mothma.  She first played Mon in scenes that were deleted from ROTS.  She reprised the role in ROGUE ONE in 2016.  Then she came back to voice act in seasons 3 and 4 of REBELS.  Then there was ANDOR season 1, followed by her part on AHSOKA.  And how she's playing the part in season 2 of ANDOR - 20 years after she first played the part.

The one bit of casting that's still a little bitter to accept is that Jimmy Smits was "unavailable" to reprise his role as Bail Organa.  He's played that part for a long time - most recently in the OWK series.

Beyond that?  This was an epic story arc.  And I don't even know where to begin with it all.  To see everything come to a head on Ghorman was startling.  The Empire went looking to provoke the catastrophe that ensued, all in the name of taking complete control of the planet so that it could be mined to oblivion.

It was interesting to see what happened with Syril's character.  He was far more complicated than anyone might have guessed.  He seemed prepared to be an Imperial lackey, and he was thoroughly used by the ISB and Dedra.  But he seemed to have a moral compass that was guided by some desire for justice.  But then that all got thrown out the window when he came across Cassian, and he lost it.

One thing that I was glad did NOT happen?  We've encountered Imperial sharp shooters before, notably a former one in The Mandalorian.  And I'm glad he wasn't shoe-horned into the role of the shooter who took out an Imperial trooper in a false flag attack in order to give the rest of the Imperial troops an excuse to open fire on the Ghor.

One mom & pop mini-chain near me is already trying to take advantage of the new climate.  They jacked up their TVC basic figure prices to $21.99 - and this was on OLD stock, like the CW Barriss Offee, Vel Sartha, Greef Karga and others.

Meanwhile I'm plugging more gaps.  SMH, this is not looking good.

Even trying to distill a list of some of the most notable moments could easily turn into an entire year's worth of TVC releases.

Scored in a store!!!!  I guess it’s helpful to have a Disney Store the next block up from the studio for Good Morning America!

I think Hasbro was likely trying to play ball with Lucasfilm in offering something for May The Fourth, but with limits.  Especially if Hasbro might wind up absorbing some of the tariff costs on those orders.
