My wife and I have this discussion from time to time. We'll see a movie on TV and will flip to it. There are some that once you start watching, you just can't stop. What are some that you guys like?
For me some are:
Forrest Gump
Band of Brothers series
Pulp Fiction
Tombstone
Back to the Future (all of them)
Lethal Weapon (all of them)
Blackhawk Down
Talladega Nights
Anchorman
Dodgeball
Oceans 11
The Day after Tomorrow (I have no idea why either)
I'm sure there are more that I'll think of later and add.

I would be remiss if I didn't say Star Wars....
Star Wars (Original Trilogy)
Monty Python & the Holy Grail
Terminator 2: Judgement Day
Leon
Happy Gilmore
Transformers
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Bull Durham
If my wife and I can't agree on what to watch on TV these are our standby's to watch on DVD because we enjoy watching them.

If I'm flipping channels just looking for anything, if I run across the following I feel obligated to watch:
The Mummy
The Fast and the Furious
Armageddon
Goonies
Any of the Harry Potter films
If there isn't a new film out on DVD that I want to watch, and I go to the shelf, I usually end up with something from Kevin Smith, like Mallrats or Clerks. If not that, then one of the following;
Harold and Kumar go to White Castle
Transporter
Superbad
Or a super hero film like the X-Men, Spider-Man or something similar.

There's a bunch of movies from the 80's that I can watch over and over:
Krull
Flash Gordon
2010
Empire Strikes Back
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Star Trek II
Phantasm
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Explorers
Outside of the 80's:
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Jaws
Citizen Kane
Casablanca
A Bridge too Far
Bridge over the River Kwi
Lawrence of Arabia
Sparticus
The Outlaw Josey Whales
and of course Star Wars

I think there's already a thread like this somewhere on this site, but I still hold true to The Fifth Element. I don't catch a lot of tv, but that's a movie I must watch in its entirety everytime it's on - even though I have the DVD and have never watched the disc. I'm sure there's lots more out there, but that's an automatic out of the hat movie for me....for some reason.

Shaun of the Dead. :D

I haven't watched it in a while, but I picked up the remade Dawn of the Dead DVD a few years back and must have watched it six times in six months. I'm not even a big horror fan, but I like the mix of Zombies with some actual character building and even a few funny parts here and there. The elevator music during the big chase near the end is hilarious.

Fifth Element
Stargate
The Replacements
Thomas Crown Affair
Road House
Caddyshack
Christmas Vacation
Constantine
-
Two that I've caught recently that I never seem to be able to turn away from:
Shawshank Redemption
My Cousin Vinny
-
The Replacements and Shawshank definitely make my list - good selections.
I cannot stand The Fifth Element though - I would rather watch Waterworld looped six times back-to-back.
-
It's a long list for me but probably 'Kingpin' is one of my most watched movies I own

Back to School
Trading Places
Seems like old times
Revenge of the nerds
National Lampoons Vacation
Christmas Vacation
Caddyshack

Two from this weekend on TCM - Lawrence of Arabia and The Magnificent Seven
Had no intention of watching either before hand, but I ended up getting sucked into both of them once I saw they were on...

I had the same thing with Harry Potter. They were running marathons of the films on ABC Family, leading up to last night when they ran Order of the Phoenix which may have been a TV debut.
Either way, at various points over the weekend I found myself watching Potter films for extended periods of time. Which was broken up with me reading, for hours on end, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which I'm now about 200 pages from finishing. That'll wrap up a two month marathon of re-reading the series.
I'm sure I'll follow this all up by actually watching a marathon of the first 6 films on DVD in the coming weeks.

Same here. I always catch at least parts of the Harry Potter marathons that ABC Family runs. I wanted to check out some of them this weekend, since it is the first time it has been on since we upgraded to an HDTV and cable box. I've also been re-reading Deathly Hallows for the first time since it came out, and I'm just over halfway done. Looking forward to Part I hitting theaters later this year.
On this topic, there are a handful of movies that I'll always catch at least some of every time they are on TV (even if we have them on DVD/BluRay). Just something about checking it out for awhile, then switching to something else, or whatever...but I always find time to watch some of these movies when they are on:
Star Wars Saga
Spider-Man Trilogy (1 and 2 in particular)
X-Men/X-Men 2
Lord of the Rings
Harry Potter
Batman Begins
The Goonies
I'm sort of surprised that some other older movies don't get shown more often. The Indy trilogy in particular is virtually never on television. I can remember it getting played on USA (and maybe Sci Fi?) a couple times in the past 5-10 years (the 2nd time was when KOTCS was getting released), but that is about it. You would think someone would use those rights to play them every so often, like the LOTR/Harry Potter/Star Wars situation.
