Title: Walmart Black Series 3.75" Wave 4
Post by: Jeff on January 4, 2016, 01:25 PM
So, Wave 3 is becoming a bit more common.  Time to start thinking about Wave 4 again.  Here were the rumored figures, with (now dead) Walmart links:

- SW E7 BL VILLAIN TROOPER COMMANDER (http://www.walmart.com/ip/46173530) (Phasma  ???)
- SW E7 BL SECONDARY HERO FIGHTER (http://www.walmart.com/ip/46173529) (?)
- SW E7 BL SIDEKICK BATTLER BLUE (http://www.walmart.com/ip/46173528) (?)

Really hoping one of the bottom two is a TFA 3.75" SA Han Solo. (http://jedidefender.com/jsmentek/crossfingers.gif)

I really hope these guys are still happening! Ever since Walmart removed the links I've been dreading wave 3 was the end.

My guess is that they are Phasma, Han Solo and possibly a Resistance Soldier.

The UPC's for these still kick back the product information via Brickseek:

SW E7 BL SIDEKICK BATTLER BLUE - 46173528
SW E7 BL SECONDARY HERO FIGHTER - 46173529
SW E7 BL VILLAIN TROOPER COMMANDER - 46173530

The color code blue turned out to be SnowTrooper commander for TRU.
Title: Re: Walmart Black Series 3.75" Wave 4
Post by: Pete_Fett on January 4, 2016, 07:34 PM
I would hope that one of them is TFA Han Solo - but like IndySolo said, the Blue code word was the SnowTrooper Commander at TRU, so maybe the "Blue Battler" is a SA regular SnowTrooper - which I wouldn't mind one bit, I think it's a great update to the design.

Another thought I had for the secondary hero could be one of the other pilots or maybe the secondary outfit of one of the main three new heroes - Poe had the Resistance outfit from the beginning, Finn was in his Stormtrooper armor and Rey of course has her outfit from the end of the movie - all three of those are fair game for SA treatment, would seem odd to get another version of a Wave 3 character in Wave 4, but you never know...

I'd be fine with any/all, but my wishes would be SA Han, Poe in Resistance duds, and a new FO character (any character, but Snowie would work for me).

Anything else though...  I'd probably not complain.  Rey in her costume from the end isn't real high on my list, nor would a Chewbacca TFA be, but yeah whatever.  I just am enjoying what they have done enough that I don't want the party to stop.
Title: Re: Walmart Black Series 3.75" Wave 4

Based on the names?  I'm thinking that they might line up with these characters:

SW E7 BL SIDEKICK BATTLER BLUE - Chewbacca from Starkiller Base. Yes, an OT version of Chewbacca already got made in wave 1, but this version will probably be more in line with Chewie's appearance from TFA.  And I suspect that he'll come with a satchel and some charges from the sapper mission with Han Solo.  The "SIDEKICK" name really seems to lend itself to Chewbacca.  Who else really has that kind of role, after all?  And we saw the "BLUE" designation previously assigned to the TRU exclusive Snowtrooper Commander when it was listed as a BLUE TROOPER.  By my estimation, that BLUE tag probably means Starkiller Base.

SW E7 BL SECONDARY HERO FIGHTER - Here, I'm thinking TFA Han Solo.  The SECONDARY tag is a little offputting since a lot of people see this film as belonging to Han Solo, but really he is secondary in that this is the story of Rey, Finn and Poe stepping forward for this part of the saga.  And Han serves as a guide to Rey and Finn.

SW E7 BL VILLAIN TROOPER COMMANDER - This is probably the most transparent listing of all.  I think it's pretty obvious that this will be Captain Phasma.  She seems much more likely to be listed like this than say, General Hux.

I never thought of Chewie as the sidekick battler before but it makes a whole lot of sense. While I would prefer a newer molded character I could live with a FA accurate Chewie with the aforementioned accessories.

Further possible evidence?  Adam Pawlus posted an image earlier today on his Twitter feed of a Black Series 6" Chewbacca being scanned at a WalMart price scanner.  The name that came up was ALIEN SIDEKICK.  It doesn't match up completely with the SIDEKICK BATTLER BLUE, but the inclusion of that SIDEKICK name does steer things in his direction.
Title: Re: Walmart Black Series 3.75" Wave 4
Post by: JediJman on January 5, 2016, 04:29 PM
I think it might be Snowtrooper Commander, Chewie, and Han.  Chewie could be the "secondary" hero with added greys and snow aps, while Han (in Blue coat) could be considered a "sidekick" of the other heroes.  Then the figures would all fit together as a Starkiller wave.

Post by: Jeff on January 5, 2016, 04:33 PM
They used "Sidekick" for the TFA Han figure too - the 6" TFA Han was listed as "SW E7 Sidekick Battler Black".  Maybe "Sidekick Battler Black" Is Freighter Han and "Sidekick Battler Blue" is Starkiller Base Han?

Here's a few others to aid the sleuthing...

SW E7 Villain Trooper Commander = 6" Captain Phasma
SW E7 Secondary Alien = 6" Zuvio
SW E7 Secondary Hero Battler Orange = 6" X-Wing Poe
SW E7 Sidekick Alien = 6" Chewbacca
SW E7 Villain Trooper Red = 6" Flametrooper
SW E7 Blue Trooper = 6" Snowtrooper Officer
SW E7 Lead Hero Battler White = 6" FN-2187 (Finn in Stormie Gear)
SW E7 Sidekick Battler Black = 6" TFA Han Solo

I kind of take it as a bad sign that we haven't gotten the official Wave 4 announcement. Yet, the line does seem to be selling quite well, so one would think it has the legs to keep going.

According to SWAN, this line is continuing as is for now, and will include Phasma and Asty (Giggity! New alien dome!)

I figured Phasma was on the way with that one character code name.  But Atsy?  I didn't think the character distinguished himself that much to merit a Black Series figure.  I'm still hopeful that the third slot might go to TFA Han Solo.

I'd hope for a Han as well.  This is also a better venue for Leia.  I'm wondering if the repacks could branch out to some more desirable ones.

Would love to the see the Royal Guard in that red and black box.

But Atsy?  I didn't think the character distinguished himself that much to merit a Black Series figure.

Maybe it's not so much that he merited a figure, but more that they can use the 6" sculpt to make a 3.75" pretty easy?   :P

But yeah, I'm still holding out hope that TFA Han Solo fills out this wave.

Listening to the JTA recording (yeah, I know...) of the Q&A the question was posed as - people surmise the figures are Phasma and Asty, which Hasbro didn't discuss. So the news that these are probably it is taken directly from the question itself and not the answer. Phasma I think is a lock, but Asty... who knows anymore. I think they'd focus on main characters as they have. They described Luke and Leia as soon, and the next group of these as Spring, so maybe...

Can't say as I care but I'd take Atsy over Leia any day...  An alien just holds more appeal than Leia does from the film.

Now Han, I need an old man Han with articulation.

Was gonna try tweaking the 5POA figure if I see one...  Have ample KOTCS heads around to try it.

I was shocked when I heard that Asty was even in the running for this line - I mean how much screen time did he get? Has the Hasbro Star Wars team even bothered to watch TFA yet? Why don't they just complete this wave with a SA Constable Zuvio to really punch this wave up a notch?! An over-hyped character that didn't do much, a character that was a blink-and-you miss him appearance and a character that found it's way to the cutting room floor. Home run for Hasbro!

Really?  If that's the case it could mean that Atsy just isn't in the mix at all.  If that information was derived more from the question than Hasbro's response, then you have to be very skeptical about Atsy's placement in the 3.75" Black Series.

I know it's been a while, but don't forget that Hasbro (or rather, someone in particular over there) has a huge foner (fan boner :)) for Rebel Pilots.

2013 = Biggs, 2014 = Dutch.  All those Evolutions and TRU Pilot packs.  The only thing Hasbro likes more than Clone Commanders is Rebel Pilots.  ;D

Could be worse. Could be Snap.  ;)

I kind of agree though. Han is a must along side Phasma.

My theory is that Zuvio was in this wave, but once Hasbro realized that nobody cared about a character that wasn't even in the film, they had to triple production to make people care. Thus the delay.

I think Atsy would be pretty nice as a TBS figure...  his 6" figure is pretty cool anyway.  And a new alien, blah blah blah.

Not a ton of backgrounders stood out in TFA though, so yeah besides Han (for me anyway) it starts to get into murky water as to what I'm really jonesing for.  Leia, I'd like, but I'd be as happy for a 5POA Leia honestly.  Like Ceremony Leia, she really sucks for $13 when you get her.  I'd much rather Han and Atsy, or Han and a Resistance Trooper ultimately.

These could possibly be the upcoming Wave 4 figures:

Captain Phasma (Chrome Stormtrooper - Commander) (First Order) (TFA)
General Leia Organa (D’Qar Celebration Gown) (TFA)
Han Solo (Cold Weather Gear or Starkiller Base Outfit) (TFA)

Tell me what you think, thank you for letting me post.

I'm kinda bummed Leia got a slot, simply because she's a figure I'd be perfectly happy with 5POA...

Han is welcome as is Phasma.  Cool stuff. :)

Phasma certainly isn't a surprise.  I think a lot of people saw through the codes on that one.  The figure looks good, even if the character was somewhat underwhelming in terms of impact to the story of Episode 7.

I can't say that I'm surprised by the Starkiller base Han Solo.  I think a 3.75" Black Series Han Solo was a near certainty, especially given Han's very central role in THE FORCE AWAKENS.  While I would've preferred a version much more like Han is his leather jacket, I can understand why Hasbro went a different way.  Just look at the release schedule!  The 3.75" basic figure has only been in reasonably wide release for the past month or so.  To announce an SA exclusive version of Han Solo in the same deco as the recently released 5POA basic figure would probably hurt sales of the general release offering.  That would probably also lead to upset retail partners.  So the logical way to go would seem to be the only other version of Han Solo from TFA that makes sense:  cold weather gear.  I feel confident that there will be a TFA SA Han Solo in the leather jacket, but I think Hasbro wants some time before they "fix" the figure that just came out 2 months ago.

I'm a little surprised that Hasbro went with this version of Leia.  But perhaps they want to offer up the Resistance General version in the main 5POA line.  As for the name?

General Leia Organa (D’Qar Celebration Gown) (TFA)

...I think I would probably refer to this as the D'Qar Mourning gown.  We've never really seen Leia in clothes so dark before, and I think the final scenes of her on D'Qar depict someone who is mourning, and not celebrating.  Han and Leia didn't seem like they were on the best of terms, but they still seemed to care for one another deeply.  As for a figure commemorating that?  It's tough.  Simply because Leia only had two different costumes.  And my belief is that General Leia is almost certainly coming in the 5 POA line this year.

All of this leaves me wondering what's next in the WalMart exclusive 3.75" SA figure line.  Where do you go from here in terms of the character selections?  The ones that immediately come to mind and make sense in the SA format are:
-Resistance uniform Poe
-Stormtrooper Finn
-First Order Trooper (TIE Pilot, Flametrooper, Heavy Gunner, Snowtrooper, Fleet Engineer)
-Hux
-Resistance Troopers
-X-Wing pilots
-Knights of Ren
-Luke Skywalker

I think that at this point Leia is the Jocasta Nu of the Star Wars line. Hasbro is never going to put out an action figure of an "old lady" in the mass market 5POA line, so she'll be relegated from here on out as an exclusive. I think the 3.75" Black Series is the ONLY way we'd ever get Leia in this outfit from TFA, so I'm kinda glad she got a slot. I'm definitely glad she got a slot instead of a 3.75" SA rendition of a character like General Hux.

Well consider me disappointed in this whole set. We knew Phasma was coming, but honestly I'm perfectly fine with the 5POA version considering all she does is type on a keyboard. Han is just disappointing, from the outfit he wore for a grand total of 30 seconds to the brown hair. Seriously, that's 3 figures now where Hasbro has refused to paint Han's hair the correct color. What's the deal? And I agree that Leia is not a figure that needs to be SA at all, especially in her 30 second outfit.

This I just completely disagree with, haha.  Sorry Pete...  I'd take SA Gen Hux over any Leia outside of an ANH resculpt, any day at this point.  Maybe not a "general duds" Leia from TFA maybe.  She was more important in that outfit I think, for that film.

I liked Ceremony Leia for what she was, but honestly I can't say I'd ever have cared if they never updated her at all either.  To me, SA slots are precious few right now, and Leia (old Leia) really sucks to get one.  That said, if it were her in her General's uniform and not this goofy outfit she wore briefly, I'd have much rather had THAT figure made, but at the same time, neither one is as interesting to me as an SA Resistance Trooper (so Stormies have some kinda targets to aim at poorly), or some random alien even from Maz's.  Or the cool droid there for that matter.

Han I love, but I'd take Han in any outfit from any film in the SA line.  Speaking of, was his coat blue in the movie?  I can't recall.  If it was, cool nod to the vinty figure.

The "new" droid is a cool deco, but man, $13 for a droid repaint blows.  That said, I like droid repaints and just paid $70 for 7 of them soooooo I guess I was already down that rabbit hole for the most part anyway.

On Phasma, I know she didn't do jack in the movie really, but neither did Boba Fett or Jango (much) so I just am glad to have a SA version of her because I really just want to be able to pose her like she IS doing cool ****.  I envision that she has done quite a bit, and figure she's a badass ultimately, and so getting that SA version (was gonna make one, now won't) is quite awesome to me.

TFA didn't have a TON of memorable figures oddly enough...  I'd like to have seen better articulation on some of the aliens we've gotten, but Maz's was kind of a brief alien bit that was glossed over.  Outside of Resistance Pilots/Troopers/officers, and First Order pilots/troopers/officers, I feel like there just is a few main guys in outfits to wish for with this quality level.

SA Poe in Resistance Pilot Ground duds, and then a "tortured" deco variant? :)  I'd buy both.  One can wish.  A SA Finn in trooper duds.  An SA General Leia would be cool for me, and an SA Han in the outfit he appeared in 90% of the film in would be amazingly awesome and my top TFA want I'm sure (saw the 5POA and it's not a bad sculpt but not poseable kills it for me).

So yeah...  Ceremony Leia, and this Leia, they just don't have the umph for $13, to me.  I think if Maz can get a figure, any Leia can...  Maz is an alien, sure, but at her character's core she seemed just like a little old lady too.  And hell, Hux as a basic 5POA figure?  Did kids really care about him either?  I think anything's possible, even in the "aimed at kids" line.

But an SA Hux...  That'd actually be kinda cool to me.  :-X

There is a theory that his coat changes color from blue to brown intentionally during the movie, but I can't confirm that because my eyes are terrible for gauging that kind of thing. (Where's Scott? He's the one who started all this...)

When they are getting ready to leave the Starkiller Shield Generator and go to the Capacitor, Chewie hands Han his coat, and Han definitely does a double-take when he sees it.

I've yet to buy any of the Wal-Mart Black series. It would take something special like Resistance Trooper with swappable heads...i.e. "something they'd never do".

What they've done so far is really nice...  Poe and Rey have been some of the bed figures I owned in a while.  FO trooper is pretty kick ass too.

I'd be happy with any resistance trooper that is just nicely articulated and has a removable bucket.  I like figures to have a counterpart.  The swappable head thing isn't a big deal to me.  Rey's was a nice touch though.

I believe that the Celebration Dress or Gown fits. Here is why, while Leia has a heavy heart for the loss of Han. As General leading the Resistance, Leia shows great hope and courage. Rey, Finn, Poe and the rest of the Resistance just blew up the First Order's Starkiller Base. Also, if you remember Leia feels Han die in the war room, she should great remorse and then when Leia comforts Rey on their return to D'Qar, this scene shows how sad everyone is by the loss of Han Solo. Whether it be fictional or real. In war no one really wins. The side that people consider victorious is the side with the least casualties. This how I will list my Leia figure. Disney, Hasbro or everyone can decide on a name. Remember though Disney likes using sweet and pleasant words. Mourning is what Luke does when watching Darth Vader's Armor burn in Return of The Jedi. Thank you for opinion.

Excited that we are getting more of these. Honestly, prior to getting the earlier waves, I started to think that having all 5 POA wasn't so bad. After seeing the Force Awakens characters, it reminded me of what Hasbro is capable of. I like the character choices, but agree that Leia could have been 5 POA. Happy to have the Han, but hope we get the regular version in this form soon too. Still wish they weren't WalMart exclusives, I wouldn't have this line if not for help from Pete_Fett.

I'm still wondering when we'll just get a glimpse of only the Luke Skywalker figure.  Still it's nice that we have an update on figure from The Force Awakens.

I said it before somewhere, but I'll say it again - I really, really want to see a lot of Han in this year's Walmart 3.75" line.   Would have liked VOTC Han or BEspin Han instead of Endor Han, but oh well.  TFA Starkiller Han is a great second Han for the line but I'd still love the Freighter Han in this SA line too.

Yes, I know that's a lot of Han for a line, but I'm going to be greedy here because we all know the chances of Ep8 or Ep9 Han figures are, well...  :'(

I'm fine if they skip an SA 3.75" TFA Luke for now and wait until the Episode 8 line to do him up nicely... not like he did a whole lot in the movie anyway. :P

A figure like this version of Han Solo makes me wish that the CommTech chip wouldn't have been such an abject failure.  I would have LOVED getting this version of Han Solo with a CommTech chip that would say "That's now how The Force works!!!"

I know even what you just mean by wishing the Black Series figures weren't only WalMart exclusives.  The collectors like us would soon have more luck with the figures.

I saw this reposted on the Yakface Instagram account this morning.  It's a packaged image (https://instagram.com/p/BEN8b5rOYM6/) of the upcoming new wave of WalMart exclusive Black Series 3.75" figures including Captain Phasma, Han Solo (Starkiller base), and Leia (D'Qar).  The user who posted these images is from Singapore.  That being the case, these will likely show up in the US in the next few weeks.

Never really thought about that, but you're right Jeff. Kind of sad to think about really. Unless they do a SA Han Solo in his primary outfit from TFA (which would be great), this could be the last SA, 3.75", Harrison Ford Solo we see.

I wouldn't bet on that.  We still get core characters and fan favorites in recent lines despite the lack of movie presence.  Look at characters like Fett who pop up in almost every wave even though he's not relevant in any of the current media content.  He hasn't been relevant on screen for a while, but right now I can buy armor up Fett, those goofy combiner figures, and even an infinity figure.  Plus there are some rumors that we might see a young Han cameo in the Rogue One film...   :-X

Umm...  that's true, but none of those are brand new, SA 3.75" figures, are they? :P

My point wasn't that we'd never see another Han toy again.  The point was, with a limited number of slots in the Walmart Black Series 3.75" line each year, it would not surprise me if this is the last new 3.75" SA Han we get until the Han movie hits.

Yeah the odds don't seem in your favor there Jeff, but hey who knows what turn the line overall may take?

While Han is an icon though, I'm not sure I'd compare him with Fett.  I want a new Endor Han badly but does the world?  At the same time Boba basically is in the same outfit and people will rebuy him over and over.  He appeals to kids now as much as ever...  He is just riding that "he looks cool" factor.  Do today's new fans want new Hans though?  I dunno.  I know OT Boba wasn't in any of the PT films but my kids at the time wanted a Boba figure pretty badly.

I missed the "SA" part.  It's doubtful, but I still wouldn't rule it out.  With less than a dozen of these released so far, we got OTC Leia, OTC Vader, OTC Jedi Luke, & OTC Endor Han.  That's almost half OTC, non-movie figures.  ANH Han and Luke in next year's assortment wouldn't shock me.
Title: Re: Walmart Black Series 3.75" Wave 4

But to that point, OTC Leia was a hold-over (supposedly the softgoods had issues I'd heard/read somewhere) and the rest were repacks...   :-\

Not real hopeful personally, at least till the Han movie rolls out anyway.

I so wanted a new Endor Han...  I wanted a new Carbo Han and that snuck in under the wire, but man, Endor Han just blows.

I wanted a nice brown coat variant of Hoth Han too, for actually riding the Taun-Taun they made with a friggin' blue coat.  ::)

Yeah, but he only wears it for a small part of things.  It's just a very updatable figure to me.  I'd have taken new and semi-new Cantina and Hoth Hans too, respecticely.

I'm pretty ok with Carbo and Bespin.  Endor is just the one that stands out as fairly bad now.  Not counting TFA 5POA which obviously I'd love a SA version.

Well, between two Walmarts in the St Louis area, wave 4 was plentiful. One probably had 4 untouched cases. I grabbed one set of 3 though the lips on the Leia are off at the first stop and it was the only one of her they had. I will return that tomorrow. The second stop is at a newer Walmart that has never carried the SA figures so I wasn't expecting much. I've never bought a single thing there and wonder why I make the effort only to be disappointed time and again. Well, there were the 4 cases with all the figures overflowing from the pegs. I grabbed three of the Leias (all of them were better than the first I bought). Han's eyes aren't real crisp, but decent. His hair is still not gray.

So my haul is:
3x Han
2x Phasma
4x Leia (though one is going back)

One sets for me, the others for locals.

So this wave is just officially Han, Leia, and Phasma?  What was that astromech all about?

If anyone ends up with an extra set they could send me, I'd be super grateful.  As always, the nearest Walmart takes me over an hour to make a round trip to, and the traffic sucks.

So, I'm going to go ahead and put the cry for help out there if anyone happens to find extras as this wave filters out more. Our local stores have just been disasters for this line. If not for online orders and the help from others, I wouldn't have any of them. Especially looking forward to the Han, but the whole wave looks nice.

Nothing here yet...  This isn't as cool a wave as the previous 2 felt, but I really want Han and Phasma...  I want Leia too, but man why can't they give us General Leia who's just so much cooler than this one ya know?

Han, he's Han...  I want a couple of him. :)

Same wiith Phasma.  I'd love to get two and take the 2nd and give her something of a more battered look and a cloth cape.  She deserves it.  She's the new Boba Fett. :P

Found the wave in MN today.  Very happy with Han.  Phasma is great.

Leia... man, that face deco.  Those eyebrows.  One of the two Leia figs I found had a horrible eyebrow  (one was almost straight vertically) and pink paint drips (from her lip paint, I think) on her hairdo.   ::)

I want Leia too, but man why can't they give us General Leia who's just so much cooler than this one ya know?

I thought for sure it was because the General Leia outfit was going to be a 5POA TFA figure (like the way they did Han in each line with the more "familiar" look as 5POA wide release).

Now that it seems like 5POA from TFA is drying up, maybe 5POA General Leia isn't such a sure thing anymore...?

Customizing is becoming much more a necessity, hah.  Yeah TFA stuff...  it is weird how they're just moving right onto the next thing.  Truly we were spoiled with the way the line knocked out so much obscurity over the decades.  The way it is now, you may get something obscure, but it might've been on accident (Zuvio).

the floating holster...

Holy ****, Jesse.  You may be the only other person that appreciates this as much as me, but I'm going to post anyway.  Check out the #figureporn on this Starkiller Han's holster:

Perfectly executed.  Separate belt that fits his hips perfectly and is attached by peg to leg.  Doesn't even impede the ball-joint hips all that much.  Would be perfect for a tauntaun riding Han custom.  Just so perfect.  Such a shame it's hidden by the winter coat.

Going to be buying a few extra Starkiller Hans just for these legs/belts to upgrade some older Han figures.

Post by: Jesse James on April 25, 2016, 11:18 PM
I just hope I CAN find them. :)  Yes, that's very much awesome and appreciated.

The only thing I like better maybe is the separately sculpted loop (Bespin Luke), but beyond that, this is ideal really, plus you can unplug it (I assume) for more extreme poses if needs be, so this is way more ideal in that regard.

Endor Han still looks like **** because of this issue alone, but the barrel chest surely isn't helping him either.

Same here. I keep checking our local stores, but I'm not hopeful. I've never seen anything other than the first wave repacks on pegs here anyways, and usually not even those. Not sure if it is our area, but we just don't seem to see the WM exclusives at our stores whether it is Star Wars, Marvel, Funko, or whatever. If anyone is able to help me out with this wave, I'd really appreciate it. As much as I want these type of figures to continue, I hope they find another outlet. Ideally, replace the armor up line/price point with these, available everywhere.

I recall these being for 5/4 even...  Yeah this is frustrating.  Tough to collect a line that is only in pictures for the majority haha.  I only get excited by these figures at this point too, so doubly frustrating for me.

I have found new things that I tie to Star Wars collecting that I enjoy but I watched TFA again last night for only the 2nd time (long story why I couldn't while it was in theaters) and man, I want toys more than ever now.  God I want a scaled XWing and TIE...  I want SA figs, and obscurity...  I want an SA resistance trooper, officer, and ground crewman...  I want the pilot with Biggs' markings on his bucket, I want an SA Atsy...  I even want the modern day Porkins/chunky pilot.

And that's not even getting into the myriad of Imps and variants.  Hell, I want an SA General Huxtable.

*sigh*

Oh and people hated the Rathtars?  Not me.  I want toys.  I loved those!

Sorry for the late reply. I did find those on that day. Seemed pretty random. Got my Han and Phasma from Ebay in the mail today.  So glad to finally have these.

Got Han from a local buddy I met via Twitter...  Not a huge collector, but knew what to look for, and it worked out.

Actually like Han way more than I thought I would.  For some reason the face doesn't look too swift in pics, but in person the sculpt is crisp, but the eyes are ****** to say the least.  I get what they were going for with the sculpt though, and think it worked and would just look way better with the eyes painted better.  The hair could use a good deal more grey in it too...  Chalk another good sculpt getting flak due to poor paint apps, which is an area I totally agree with all the bitching...  Hasbro has cut way too many corners at all scales on paint apps.  Everything from micro machines to 6" figures are just sloppy anymore.

At least the faces are anyway.

The coat, and the rest of the duds are pretty sharp though, though one small gripe is the shoe part of the boot is actually highly glossy while the tall part that makes it a boot is pretty flat.  It's weird that they screwed the pooch on that one.

The blaster being an all new sculpt was a nice surprise too.  Wish I had this sculpt for all my Han figures actually.  It looks to be spot on, has a trigger guard, the scope is raised just right from the rest of the pistol.  It's really neat.  And the articulation is outstanding of course.

Like Jeff posted before, the "peg" for the holster is a neat little extra, and lets you retail articulation while also making the holster stick to the thigh like it should.  Personally I prefer the TVC Bespin Luke's style, and think that should be standard as I have no trouble posing a figure with that completely separate holster/belt sculpt, but this is as good a compromise as can be expected, and works pretty well.  Miles superior to Endor Han, etc.

I'd say if the eyes were just a little less spread out, I'd not have a gripe at all with this really.  It's a pretty solid figure for a pretty random outfit from the movie.

Now if they'd do him like this in the outfit he wore throughout 90% of TFA, I'd be really geeked. :)

Still haven't seen any sign of w4 in or around my area (3 Walmarts within a 6 mile radius). One never got them at all; the second dumped them after w2; and the third hasn't stocked since a case of w2 two months ago. We also haven't gotten any TFA figure shipments since March, so it's not just TBS that isn't getting restocked.

I'm not upset over it, though. Between the higher prices, shoddy distribution, and the questionable quality (based on what everyone's photos and reviews of Han & Leia, especially), I'm not even all that excited about getting them. If I see them, I'll get them, provided they aren't cross-eyed and their limbs are in the proper locations.  ;D

I've only seen repacks as remnants that the wave WAS at a store, but then there's been people finding like a single set here or there, or part of a set (one or two of the new figures), and it's weird.  It's like WM might be breaking the cases up in similarly stupid fashion to how Target will break cases up between stores...  I guess if one does the other may too.

I've not seen a single new one from this wave myself, but locals helped me get at least one full set, and a couple extra Han figures for the pieces.  I truly hope this improves since today Hasbro confirmed these are sticking with Wal-Mart.  I'd pay the $1 more if they went to TRU though, given TRU actually handles their exclusives decently.  Target is no better than WM to me, and less common here, so yeah, I'd take TRU at this point.  Or an online shared exclusive or something.  That'd suit me just fine too.

So in another instance of my area apparently being the actual ass-end of distribution, this wave FINALLY started to hit here with some kind of regularity/frequency.  This isn't to say #s are good, and one dude was walking out with pretty much all of it when I popped into Wal-Mart on Sunday afternoon (Seriously...  I think I embarrassed him because he scurried off and forgot a couple), but hey I was just a minute too late.  Oh well.

A local buddy picked me up Phasma though, so I'm actually caught up on these...  It feels good.  It won't be that way long, I feel sure, but it's cool for now.

I have an extra Han for customizing, an extra Phasma for the same thing, and one of the figures that guy left was a Leia so I got her just incase her paint is slightly less offensive.

Oh and he dropped a FO Stormie, and even at $13 I can't pass that up.

I did leave a Rey he left behind...  Felt weird.  She barely hit around here and is one of the best figures of this WM exclusive series.  She's really quite perfect.

Anyway, just enjoying new toys.  Been a while...  well, been a while for Star Wars anyway.  :-X

Have a handful of 5POA I want, but I'm not going out of my way to get.  Maskless Kylo, Stormie Squd Leader, Nein Numbnuts, Ackbar's flappin' Canadian head, and Tassu Leach. *shrugs*  I think I want Kylo only to swap his head onto a better Kylo figure even.  Same with that Stormtrooper...  More want him for the gear than the figure.  :-\

I can't believe that after all this time I spotted this wave in the wild yesterday.  I actually had to stop and look at the packaging since I had bought both Han and Leia from Tunghori, and I had never seen either figure boxed.

Since one of our new dogs chewed up my son's Captain Phasma, and the replacement figure was an add-on item at Amazon, I purchased TBS Phasma as well.  I like the figure and wish Hasbro would actually distribute these things so people can find them in the wild.

I noticed that BBTS has full sets of the WM figures (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=HAS25146&mode=retail) available for sale.  Does this mean the "exclusive" set is being sold through other outlets or did they just buy these at WM and resell them?
Title: Re: Walmart Black Series 3.75" Wave 4
Post by: Jeff on August 25, 2016, 02:00 PM
Could be either - BBTS has been known to buy at retail and then scalp resell, but they have also had some luck ordering stuff through asian wholesalers (like when they offered the Japan sticker Black Series 6" SDCC excluisves in the past).  Could be they got a hold of some overseas cases and are breaking into sets and selling.

Shockingly, I found a Han Solo and Leia on the pegs at Walmart this morning!  I purchased the Han and a second Rey (to diplay with the hood on) and left the Leia.  I can see that one sitting on the pegs a bit.

I just saw Phasma on the pegs for the first time last night. Since the price had dropped to $10.83 I went ahead and bought it. Nice figure.

Considering how long it took this wave to get to retail, I would not be surprised if WalMart is farming out some stock to third parties.  Especially since they're going to need the peg/shelf space for the ROGUE ONE line rollout next month.

Was looking at my figures from this wave the other night...  I've literally not had time to really look and appreciate them much.

Then looking at Phasma, and I dig her, but man...  she's tall.  Like, REALLY tall.  Like, I think maybe too tall?  She is a full head taller than a Stormtrooper.  The top of Old Han's head barely reaches her shoulder pauldron.  Gwendoline Christie is tall, but I'm not sure she's Wookiee tall.  Still dig her though.  Best figure of that wave.

Saw the new Han last night at TWO different Walmarts while out hunting for 6" Rogue One figs.

First time I had ever seen him on the pegs. $10 and change at both stores too.

I keep looking for Han, Leia, and Phasma, since they've never shipped here, but my local Walmarts are pretty much void of any Star Wars products now. All that remains are the unclearanced speeders and non-figure stuff. Even the 6 inch Finns and Zuvios are gone!

Stopped by Wal-Mart today, and surprise surprise they had some of these on the pegs - and on "rollback" for around $10. No Leias surprisingly, but they had Han and Phasma (and several Finns). Sadly, I was almost excited to find these for $10, like the VOTC days.

Even though these are the first I've seen and there was only one of each.  :P

We got a ton of these in last weekend and this weekend barely any 4" tbs on the pegs by comparison.  I saw 4 repacks and a Leia.  That's a ton of figures to go in a fairly short time.

Visited 2 different Walmarts today trying to get specific car things, and saw TONS of this wave at both stores. Hans, Leias, Phasmas everywhere in addition to the million Poes and Finns still around. $5.87 each.

I was hoping to find some Poes as well, but haven't seen any around here. I hit our local store a week ago and grabbed a few more Reys, a Finn, Phasma, Ahsoka, and Han at that $5ish price. Felt like the good ole days. You don't always realize how much of a difference there is from 5 POA until you open and mess around with some of these again.

There's a Walmart here that legit has 20 Poes, Finns and ROTJ Hans. They might still be $9.83 at this store, though. If you guys really want some, I'd be more than happy to snag a few.

I stopped by one store that still had some Poe's at the $5.84 price.  But the checkout lines at the front end of the store were so long that I didn't even bother trying.
