LEGO / Re: 2017 New UCS Millennium Falcon

Lego Stores have these in stock.  Got shipments this past weekend.  Most around me were sold out but was able to find one.  Getting it this afternoon.  My wife told me that I have to take that as my Christmas gift for the next 6 years due to how expensive it is.  Well worth it!

Give your local store a call and good luck!

The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS)
« on: December 17, 2017, 09:56 PM »
I've seen it twice now and I did like it.  There are the serious plot holes and WTF parts of the movie, but overall I was more engaged in this movie than any of the prequels.  In the second viewing several things are more clear.  I'm sure there will be even more enlightening moments the more I see it.

Couple things I caught the second time through I hadn't seen mentioned previously:

The kid on Canto Blight at the end with the broom, his shadow makes it look like he's holding a lightsaber.  Thought that was a nice addition to his use of the force to grab the broom.

Yoda's statement about there being nothing in the tree that Rey doesn't already possess was lost on me in the first viewing but made perfect sense the second time through.

Really looking forward to IX now and hoping that 'Solo' isn't a big let-down between now and then.

George Lucas would have never put out SFX that looked that shoddy.
Did you miss the entire prequel trilogy?

+1  :)

Kubricks / Re: Recent Acquisitions
« on: December 2, 2017, 09:36 AM »
Been finishing my basement forever and finally found a place to display my 100% bricks again last weekend.  Got me pumped about finishing off the collection so I started looking around on Yahoo!Japan and ebay.  Was able to pick up the DX4 officer today.  One down, two to go.  Probably the hardest of the DX4 chases though - Hammerhead and AT-ST driver.

Also can't believe how many SW be@rs have been released over the last few years.  I sent Medicom a question about whether they are going to ever release more Kubricks and they said to regularly check their official blog  ::) :P  I take that as them saying it's a dead line...  Too bad...

Hey guys, I am in no way a gamer or FPS expert so please bear with me on my question.  My sons want this game for Christmas as they had BF and were less than happy with it.  I'm sure that's mostly because we don't let them play online and confine them to local co-op games with friends.  Call me old fashioned but I don't want to pay $60 for a game and then pay another monthly fee for an EA or PS Play account.  That being said, is there enough content in BF2 to keep them occupied if they were only to have what I've heard referred to as a 'couch co-op'?  They don't play other FPS like CoD, so they don't know what they are missing compared to other games.  They just want to blow up some stuff and shoot some droids.  Thanks for the help in advance.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: The Avengers (and sequels)
« on: November 30, 2017, 06:46 PM »
Speculation I've read has the Soul Stone in the protection of Heimdall.  There was a line in Thor: TDW where he says he can see 10 trillion souls across the 9 realms so the prevailing theory is that he can only do this because of the Soul Stone.  Then there was Thor's vision in Age of Ultron where Heimdall is blind and says Thor has killed them all.  The blindness could be because he no longer has the Soul Stone.  If the scene at the end of Ragnarok is in fact Thanos' ship, then perhaps he's getting the Soul Stone and the Tesseract at the same time (which may be the two stones we see clearly in the trailer).  Loki does seem to be stepping over a bunch of dead bodies while he's holding the Tesseract.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Batman v Superman / Justice League / DC Movies

Saw it yesterday and I guess my expectations were very low going in so I didn't think it was that bad.  I agree that the set up seemed very fast and the end 'battle' went by even faster, but I didn't think it was the colossal failure that folks are making it out to be.  I did find the animation of Steppenwolf to be distracting though.  They couldn't have done his close-ups with the real actor (minus the motion capture facial animation) and the fight sequences as CGI?  I couldn't suspend my disbelief long enough when he was talking.

Would be interested to see if we do get Snyder's director's cut at some point.  I've seen some articles where people are petitioning WB to release his version of the film.  Wonder if they would do like Fox did with the X-Men DoFP Rogue-cut home video release...

I thought The Flash was by far the best new character of the three that were added, but was very happy we got a 'Boo-ya' out of Cyborg near the end.

Funniest sequence goes to Aquaman on the way to the final battle.

Really a ton of potential here and happy they are finally going beyond just the Skywalker saga.  They could go KOTOR or Mandolorians and completely stay away from the Sage era movies, or they could do things like explore Ashoka, Kenobi, Rogue Squadron, Thrawn or a myriad of other characters that haven't had their due in the Saga era.

I just hope that if they stay in the current Saga era, they don't do too many cameos or try to tie in too many things just so the average viewer knows the movies take place in the same universe.

On a personal note, I would love for them to do a Republic Commandos trilogy that feels like a true war saga.  Would really like a 'Black Hawk Down' type film set during the Clone Wars.  However, I know that's just a pipe dream.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Thor (Movie & Sequels)
« on: November 4, 2017, 09:36 AM »
Saw it last night.  Definitely a fun ride with a lot of memorable lines.  It "felt" more like a Guardians movie than the previous two Thor films for sure.  Not just the comedic aspects, but even the look and use of music.  At one point in the beginning I felt like I was watching a TV show with how it was shot.

With everything that was going on, going to have to see it at least one more time on the big screen to catch all the Easter Eggs.

Goldblum and Blanchett didn't disappoint.

Star Wars Anthology / Re: Rogue One (SPOILER FREE)
« on: April 4, 2017, 11:38 PM »
I picked up the Target exclusive edition with the bonus disk.  Total run time was approximately 8 minutes and not worth the extra money at all.  The packaging is cool though and I like that I can change out the cover art.

I watched the standard bonus features and while it did give some insights into how the story came into being and some of the character development, I really felt like they were only skimming the surface.  Specifically when they were discussing how they brought Tarkin and Leia 'to life' in the film.  I think that they could have done a full disk just on this process alone.

I don't know if I've just become jaded by the depth of the Hobbit and LOTR bonus content and the ridiculous amount of detail they go into, or if it's really that there wasn't enough bonus content for RO.  But I really do feel that they could have gone into much more detail, especially as this was the first standalone film from LFL.

TV-9D9 / Re: Star Wars Rebels - Season 3 (Spoilers)
« on: January 30, 2017, 09:03 PM »
My sons have been re-watching all of The Clone Wars seasons over the last few weekends and the thing that struck me the most was how the stories were able to develop over several episodes.  The story arcs were great and really kept you wanting to see what would happen in the next episode.  With Rebels, it just seems like they are trying too hard to wrap things up in single episodes week after week.  As if the producers feel that the viewing public is just too dumb to be able to remember what happened the week before.  This leads to poor character development, and episodes where things conveniently fall into place in order to wrap things up in 30 minutes.  I still watch every week, but I'm just really not as engaged as I was when TCW was in full swing...

Saw some deals over the weekend on Amazon for some remaining 2016 sets I hadn't picked up yet, so went ahead and got them.  Picked up Captain Rex's AT-TE, U-Wing Fighter, Krennic's Shuttle, and the Resistance X-Wing.  They were all 18%-25% off retail so I figured it was as good a time as any to buy.

Star Wars Anthology / Re: Rogue One (SPOILERS)
« on: December 19, 2016, 10:09 PM »
Finally got to see it today and am so glad that I stayed spoiler free on this one other than seeing the first trailer.  And as others have said, I was completely taken aback that almost all of the footage from said trailer was nixed from the final cut of the movie.

I absolutely loved that they were able to have Tarkin in as big a role as they did.  Can't wait to read about how that was done.  Also really loved a lot of the smaller cameos and nods like Red and Gold leaders, Leia, the blue milk and the Turbo Tank.  Missed every Rebels cameo with the exception of the Hammerhead, but will be paying better attention when I see it again on Friday.  And yes, it was awesome to see Vader's castle on Mustafar and his massacre of the troops at the end.  I thought the costume didn't look quite right as well.

Definitely a great start to the standalone films and a very welcomed addition to the SW Universe.
