Shoulders are articulated.

There is some debate about whether those are actual articulation points or just assembly points.  Looks like a few might have shoulder joints, but they could just be assembly points with no movement.  Hard to tell in the pics.

Is it bad that I'm more interested in these for the bases and backgrounds than the actual figures?

Agreed.  If they wanna do something "special" they should pack these in with their regular 3.75" figures.

Always wondered even in 02 why Hasbro would spend one cent on articulation that is utterly useless like that shoulder joint.  Like...  really?  You're gonna give that a ball joint and not the actual "toy" figures which are basically as much a statue as these are?

Not really any interest from me either on these, although I do sort of like the bases/backdrops. I'm always tempted to get the Han and Chewie from each line, but that would be about it.

Better. Acid tips on secondary market.  Tho the base for the 6" figs is interesting but the figure is still muff cabbage.

On your mark, get set...terrible.  :(

All I think of when I see stuff like is how the money, development time and resources, etc could have been used in so many more interesting ways.

They should be playing to their strengths this year, instead of endlessly chasing the next new thing. Have ANY of those ideas panned out recently?

There is at least some minimal articulation. If you look at the two Vader shots, you can see that his right arm is in a more elevated position with the lightsaber blade effect attached. Also, the left hand/arm in that shot is turned "up" more (showing more of the palm).

These look an awful like the 25th anniversary figures just in die cast metal. Definite pass, shame they didn't put the resources used on these into proven sellers like their bread and butter...

Could've done the stand thing with SA 3 3/4" figures, most of which would be existing tooling.  But that wouldn't tap into the huge die cast figurine market. We already saw how Hasbro deftly entered the little plastic army men market and did so well they didn't even need to continue.

Have these been spotted anywhere other than Game Stop?
