I played a version of the World Series of Poker last night ($5 a guy x 10 guys) and it was an absolute blast. Unfortunately it took forever to get to the end and I was on kid detail this morning so I had my piss poor brother take over for me when I left at 1 AM. I was in 2nd place at the time. I guess he took 4th out of 10, there went my $45.
I have been watching the WS of Poker off and on the last few months and find it to be awesome. We used to play poker for Baseball Cards back in the day and also for pennies and nickles in High School and College. I miss those days...anyone else play cards regularly?

Poker! 8)
Every month, a bunch of us get together for for friendly Poker. Whos ever house its at, delegates the players as what to bring for the menu & its all put together for a feast halfway through the game. Now this is not big money Poker here. The buy in is $5. & if you loose your money, you get one more buy in of $5. Hey, cheaper than going to a movie! ;)
Average, 6-8 players. 1st person to deal picks his game for 3 rounds & passes the cards to the next player & he can stick with the same game or choose another Poker game, then passed on to the next etc...
Interesting games & hands can be played. The games we play the most are Anaconda, Baseball, Chicago (high/low), Five Card Draw, Follow the Queen, Jacks or Better, Let It Ride, Omaha & my favorite 7 Card Stud.
World Series of Poker, I have not seen a game in awhile, guess I'll have to check Sportsnet. ;)
Bob Stupak still around?
-
Those sound like games I've played before, Guts is a poker game I've enjoyed for quite some time as well
-
I'm more of a blackjack person myself (in a casino), but do enjoy the occasional get together. We usually play quarters, but sometimes the stakes are a little higher. I also like watching the World Series of Poker on ESPN and Poker Night on the Travel Channel, I believe. Ladies night was pretty entertaining.
-
Guess I was a little ahead of my time on this one...but Poker is raging across the land in large part thanks to the success of the WSoP on ESPN.
-
i'm sorry but poker does not belong on espn. or espn 2 for that matter. remember when they used to show actual sports?
they should push it to espn 8 "the ocho".

ya know i agree that poker shouldn't be on espn or espn2 or any sports channel, but i've found myself more and more recently stopping at any channel showing a hand and i get drawn into it.
as for playing, myself and a few friends from my old job get together about 5-6 times a year for sessions that have been known to go for 8 hours. some of the games we play include your standard 7 card stud, blackjack, texas hold em, as well as variants of other games which you may know as something else, but we call em: black mariah, pass the cud, extreme, between the sheets, criss-cross and more... we don't play for hjgh stakes, the highest pot i can recall was about $60 from a game of black mariah. usually we do 25 cent antes, with nothing higher than a $2 bet off a bump, but the games sure can get heated. we should be playing a game sometime next month, in the meantime i've got a game with some old college buddies of mine in 2 weeks and i'll be showing them a lot of these games, and hopefully taking their money as well. :)

Our local Access, The Education Station had the World Poker Tour on last night. First time I saw it listed in the tv guide so I set the VCR, I haven't watched it yet.

This is one of my biggest peeves. I like poker as much as the next guy (okay, maybe a little bit less than the next guy, but it is absolutely not a sport.
sport ( P ) Pronunciation Key (spôrt, sprt)
n.
1. Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively.
2. A particular form of this activity.
3. An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.
An active pastime; recreation.
Now you might be able to get into the lesser definitions of sport and get to a point where you can make an argument that it's a sport, but sports involve athleticism. IMO. It's a game, a mental challenge, a skill (reading opponents), but It's no sport.
Which is why this bothers me:
www.pokerinathens.org
They've got a petition to get poker into the Olympics.
Give me a freakin' break... ::)

Just finished watching the World Poker Tour on TV a short time ago. Speaking of Poker, at work during lunch hour a bunch of us (6-8 shooters) head to our secret hiding spot and break out the cards for a fun buy in of $5. of Texas Holdem.
With 6 players the pay out is $25. for 1st place and $5. for 2nd. 8 players, the pay out is $25. for 1st place, $10. for second and $5. for 3rd. depending on the time factor of that 1 hour that we have time to play and how many are actually left.
This adds up after a week of playing everyday, so far I have been playing for 2 weeks and have only come in 2nd place a couple of times and got my buy in back.
Lot's of fun and very popular this game has been getting as time goes on.
Another week comes and more Poker to be had.

Texas Hold em has taken over my social life.
My friends and I used to play a lot of video games and watch movies and stuff. Now, it's all poker, all the time.
Last night, I hit a Jack high straight flush, which is officially the best hand I've ever had!
Best part is- I went all in after the river, and someone called with a straight!
He wasn't too happy to see my cards. ;D

I've played on the internet a few times and it isn't anything like real life. In real life, I've only played twice, but I got a little set (one of those ones in the silver case like they have at Target) for Christmas this year.
The other night, my friend wanted to play for his birthday. The set comes with hundreds of chips, so we had 3 or 4 people play for a few hours. After awhile, I began to get the hang of it a bit, and started to win. I cleaned everyone out.
I have no delusions that this means I'm a good player, it just means that I had one good night when I wasn't even playing for real money. We're thinking of playing for 10 bucks or something next time to make it more competitive and slow down all the raising that goes on when you're playing for fake money.
Is there a good site for poker betting rules? We were a little confused about how long the rounds of betting can go on for (like...do you go around once, or keep going around until everyone has called and no one is raising?)
-
What a game we had at work today, first hand I was delt was a pocket pair of Queens, sucked them into that round ;D
Three hands later, pocket 3's with a 3 on deck for the flop and 3 of a kind for a win.
About middle of the game with 6 players left out of 8, I was delt a 9 and 4 with a broken suit. One guy bets 2 chips and I fold and everyone calls.
Then the flop, 9... 9... 9. :o You should've heard everyone when that came up. You should have read my mind when that came up, who would've of thunk! :'(
King high took it and I came in 4th by the end of the hour. :-\

So I've been playing a lot of Texas Hold'em in the Nintendo DS game "Clubhouse Games" lately--so much so that I'm ranked like 93rd out of 10,000 players or something. No real money, but it's still fun, so poker's not as much of a cheap joke (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=3406.msg40944#msg40944) as it used to be. (I still think wearing sunglasses while playing poker is bull****, however.)
Is anyone here still interested in Poker? Or was it that when the plans for the Master Replicas Original Trilogy Star Wars Collectible Poker Chip Set (http://www.rebelscum.com/tf2006/tf06-MRmisc/IMG_0039.jpg) fell through, so did the interest of the Star Wars faithful?
-
I used to play a lot a year ago, online and casino. I was actually making enough money that I didn't have to get a real job. I stopped playing because I got burned out. There was a stretch where I would make stupid calls or just play because I wanted some action. That's when I knew I had to get out. I still play every so often just to see if I still have it. Most of the time I just play with friends and there's no real money at stake.
As far a sunglasses go, I like to wear them.

I just don't believe in it.
I tried it myself when I was playing on my DS, but I found that it didn't really help me out very much, so I quit.

A poker thread! Excellent. I can finally come out of my lurker shell and contribute a little around here.

In Texas Hold 'Em, there is definitely no "ultimate" rules. Even "Casino" rules vary from casino to casino.
If you want to run a strict game, a somewhat popular rule of thumb is to end the betting after it has gone around the table three times.
Here are some photos of my poker set. I am really happy with them. I have to take them to all the house games because all of my friends prefer them to their own chips.

Very nice set. I still play Texas Hold 'Em during the lunch hour at work & watch the shows on TV.

I made the final table of a Texas Hold 'Em tournament last night but did not place in the money.
I had pocket kings. I raise four times the big blind. I get one caller. The flop was then Ace, Ace, Ace.
I have the second best possible hand. An "Aces over Kings" full house. The only thing that can beat me is if he has the fourth Ace. Since he had called my previous bet I decide to bet 3 times the big blind to see where I am at. I actually want to bet more but I am sure he is going to re-raise.
Sure enough he re-raises and I call.
The same thing happens on the turn. I bet, he re-raises, and I call.
I bet after the river and he re-raises "all in." He could have almost anything with Ace, Ace, Ace, and two low cards on the board. There is a good chance he also has a full house. I don't know what the odds are of him having the fourth Ace but I know I have the best possible full house. There is also no straight flush possiblilities.
I make the call and he has the Ace. Blah. I am crippled and blinded out shortly thereafter. All of my friends (who were already eliminated and in sour moods) said I played that hand all wrong. I don't know though. I flopped the best possible full house. How do you get away from that?
-
Yikes that's gotta sting!
Your call on the flop was the right I think, he raises but who wouldn't with the house showing aces.
But your call again on the turn and his re-raise would have spooked me out of the hand.
even though you had the pair of Kings he only need one card to deep six you, and the rest, sadly, is history.
Better luck next time. :-\

From the "What a small world" category.
I was watching the 2005 World Series of Poker on ESPN Classics last night. It was Chris Ferguson versus a well known internet player (I can't remember his name).
Ferguson had Ace/Ten. His opponent had King/Jack.
The flop? Ace, Jack, Ace.
Ferguson makes a bet and his opponent calls.
The Turn? ACE!!!
The internet player has a full house. Aces over Jacks. Ferguson has Quad Aces.
Ferguson makes a bet and his opponent calls.
The River? A King! Improving the internet player's full house to Aces over Kings.
Ferguson makes a huge bet and his opponent calls.
That is very similar to what happened to me. The commentators mentioned that the internet player did nothing wrong. That made me feel better, lol. In fact, they gave him kudos for actually having chips after the hand. That an average would have probably gone "all in" with full house in heads up play.

Well, he re-raised your post flop bet, and you showed some weakness by downgrading your post flop bet from 4x to 3x the big blind. You fell perfectly into his trap since he reraises you on each street and you kept calling. Any time that the flop comes out trips, you have to think someone may have the fourth card. His odds on having the ace? Better than you think. Preflop, there are four aces in the deck, so that is 1:13. However, you are dealt two cards, so his odds increase to 2:13. The odds the flop comes out the last three aces? 1:4960...that is assuming there are ten players and that none of those players had an ace. It would leave 32 cards in the deck preflop so the first card is 3:32, second 2:31 and third 1:30...offcourse you can drop the denominators by one if the dealer burns the top card. Anyways, you should have either gone all in preflop, or stopped leading out betting after he reraised post flop. By always betting first and then getting reraised and calling it, you were pot commited by the river and had to call. Laying down a hand like that is tough, but a skill you must acquire to be successful.

There's a standing game every monday night that I have an open invitation to. Never go though. I'm not very good.
-
Another fifth place finish. I made the final table but did not place in the money...again.
I was also the victim of losing another big hand to an opponent with Quads...again.
I had Ace/King. The flop was 10, 10, 10. The turn was a King. The river was also a King.
I called the bet on the flop. I called the bet on the turn. My opponent called my bet on the river. He had Ace/10 giving him quads. I don't mind this one too much. There was a very good chance he was playing the board. Since I had a King, my full house was better than the board's full house.
I made a straight flush for the first time since I started player poker. I had the ten of diamonds. The board had 9, Jack, Queen, and King of diamonds. I did not bet too hard as I was worried someone had the Ace of diamonds. I did nicely on that hand as someone had the 8 of diamonds.

It wasn't until a day later that I realized I could not be beat in that hand. I had a straight flush. Even if my opponent had the Ace of Diamonds he would only have a flush.

Anyone else here ever play online poker?
I started up an account at PokerStars.net last night, just for fun, free money. I don't yet have the guts (or the skills, or the scratch) to play with real money.
And, after not even a full day, one thing's readily apparent: I suck balls.
So, if anybody wants to play with a ball-sucker, let me know and we can get a table set up.

i'm down, Matt. i usually play on Full Tilt, but i have an account on there. anytime, anyplace, sucka.
-
Name it.
My handle there is Matty1138.

you ought to download Full Tilt, really. it's much better (still free). but if you want to go on Poker Stars, i'm Carpeteria. shocking, i know.

I did download FTP a long time ago, actually, but never used it. I tried to connect last night but I could never get on, so that's when I went to PokerStars.
I finally got on to FTP earlier today but it prompted me for a user name and password, which I've long since forgotten.
-
hmm... you ought to reregister. it's a far better program. i've only messed around with PS a bit, and it's kinda baffling - it might be because it's a beta version for Macs, but i don't know...
-
Is there a difference between playing at FTP.com and FTP.net?
It was my understanding that .com is real money, and .net is play money.
-
once you download the program, you can choose between real and play money on the program itself. they only just added the real money function recently, so it shouldn't matter
-
I'd be up for some Poker, I still play Hold'em at work during lunch & on my PC "WPC" a game program I bought at Walmart. So which one are you guy's going with, Pokerstars or Fulltilt?
-
i say full tilt, still.
-
I'm down for FTP.com, as long as we're playing with play money.
Matty1138 is the handle.
-
i'm there
-
OK, FTP.com it is, I have it loaded & validatied.
Ha, looked up your user name & saw you at a couple of tables. Should we set a time & table to play?
-
anytime is cool
-
i just downloaded ftp. i have never played online poker before. how do you find specific people to play with?
-
Man, I'd love to join you fellow JD'ers for some poker. I'm not that good playing against my relatives during our occasional family gatherings, but this can be a way for me to sharpen my skills. The only problem is time which I don't have... :(
-
Click on "Requests" then go to "Find A Player", it will open a window & enter one of our user names. We are at "Sit & Go". If a seat is not open, go on the waiting list.
Matt, Carp & I are in. ;D
My user name is DSJCA.

You can also click CTRL + F, and that'll pull up the find a player box, too.
-
well, i'd say we know who's the best player here...

I have been playing some poker online again, 250 sit & go. Mostley with 18 players & have been doing good thus far, won 1st place 5 times in 2 days. 8)
This hand was just the icing on the cake. I have KD, QC & the other player 10S, 9S. Flop comes & I hit a K & bet, he calls. Then the turn, a K. So I bet & he raises so I go all in & he calls. Blast, he flopped a flush so I think I am done. River card... a K. 4 of a kind. :o :o
As the game went on, I won that tournament. ;D 8)

That's pretty amazing and exciting poker there! 4 of a kind on the river to win!
Help me on this: Announcers/poker players are always talking about "outs". In this scenario, how many outs did you have? You could have won only if you got a full house or 4 of a kind. That's assuming that he wouldn't be able to improve his hand on the river, and it doesn't look like he can. So 4 of a kind is 1 K, and full is 3 8s, 3 As, and 3 Qs. I'm thinking out loud by writing - 10 outs. Am I missing anything? Then they'll translate that to a possible winning % - 10 cards out of 52, so about 20% chance? Close?

That is correct. Its good to see that Pokerstars isn't the only site with bad beats on the river. However, the guy with the flush should have gone all in after the flop.
-
However, the guy with the flush should have gone all in after the flop.
Just curious, but wouldn't that pretty much scare everyone off their hands unless they had an ace?
-
However, the guy with the flush should have gone all in after the flop.
It may, but you saw what slow playing got him. The winning hand needed cards on both the turn and the river to beat him. On these on line sites it seems that winning hands get cracked all the time like that, regardless of how you play it. I would say 75% of the time I have had pocket Kings, and Ace would come out on the flop.
Just curious, but wouldn't that pretty much scare everyone off their hands unless they had an ace?

So I am at the final table at a local casino. There are about ten of us left. I have a somewhat weak hand - King/3.
I had been getting lousy cards all night. I only made the final table because I stayed out of most of the action and I won two or three really big pots. I kind of coasted to the final table. I was one of the smaller stacks at the table when I got the King/3. I had not been dealt a decnt hand in quite some time so I called (the previous four people before had folded).
The next two people fold. The player on the button then takes forever. He is staring at the player on the big blind and constantly looking at his chips. My best guess is that I think he is trying to make a move and trying to steal the blinds and my call. He raises which pretty much puts me all in. The blinds fold and I go all in. The guy calls because it is only a few more chips to him. He turns over an 8/5 off suit. I turn over my King/3 and he completely flips out. He is actually yelling "you play a King/3." He is complaining to anyone who will listen about how bad my play was. I am very quiet at the table so I dont respond to him.
I hit a King but it did not matter because he did not pair up his 8 or 5. He goes on and on about how bad my play was. I ignore him. Ironically, he goes all in a few hands later when I am the big blind. It is only a few chips more for me so I call. I had a 7/4 off suit and he had King/10. LOL, I end up w/ a set of 7's. He's eliminated.
At this point he is boiling. "You wont go far in this game playing King/3!"
I finally reply and tell him "I did not play King/3."
"The hell you didn't. You doubled up on me playing King/3!" he says.
"Nah, I played you. Everyone knew you trying to make a move. You had nothing and everyone knew it." Again, I am stone cold quiet at the tables so all the regular players were surprised to even hear my voice. I then go back into quiet mode and up splitting the table when it was down to two of us. Not a bad night.
-
Nice take down. Are you sure it wasn't "The Poker Brat" you were playing against. :D
-
What would you have done?
I was at the final table of a tournament. I had pocket 4's. I called a small raise (twice the big blind). The flop was 10, 8, 4, all hearts. I did not have a heart. At this time I bet the pot. Everyone folds except for one guy who re-raises all in. I pretty much have this guy figured out. I put him on Ace high with one heart. I thought and thought and decided to call.
My read was pretty close. He had a King and the nine of hearts.
Of course the turn was a heart and he made his flush. The board did not pair so I did not improve to a boat on river.
My legs were pretty much chopped off and I was blinded out shortly after - out of the money!
Now we all pretty much know what the book says and "what I should have done" but everyone knows the same things these days. With so many players you can't always do "what the book says."
So in the situation above, not necessarily what should I have down, but what would you have done?
-
Hmm... while trip 4's is nice, that still leaves a few outs for the other guy as he could have been holding 10's or 8's. Depending on how the guy was playing before this (bluffing and whatnot) I would have assumed he held the flush when he went "all in".
So, I would have folded as I tend to play pretty conservatively (probably why I don't win very often) :-\
-
That is definitely the smarter way to go. I think I was playing my read on him more than my cards. I read him correctly. The only better thing I could have done was go all in instead of betting the pot. That way I could win by having the best hand or by him folding. By calling, I could only win if I had the best hand. This particular player likes to bluff and hollywood a lot. My read was right but like you said, there were too many ways for me to lose. I think that is a bad habit I have. I am pretty good at reading my opponents - which is good but that gives me a false confidence. I was confident because I had him figured out not because my hand was that strong.
-
Since you essentially read his hand correctly, the real decision was whether you should risk nearly all your chips versus his draw. He had 17% of the cards in the deck that could help him and two chances to hit the flush. Perhaps a larger raise after the flop could have pushed him out since he was on a nine high flush draw...he could have been scared by a higher flush or that you had already made the flush. Trips are a pretty hard hand to lay down, but I think I may have played as Jayson suggested and folded thinking he already had the flush. Numerically, you probably were still a favorite before the turn, but you never know what card will hit next.
-
Yeah, tuff call on seeing all hearts & he goes all in & you sitting with trips. Trips is a hard hand to lay down but those hearts would have made me think he had the flush. :-\
I have been still dabbling on Full Tilt, ya make them ya break them.
We both had good hands at the start.

This one was a beauty, the other player did all the betting after the flop. I love 5 - 2, it's my road hand. ;D

What would you have done?
Man, that's a tough one. Given that it's the final table, perhaps close to the money, knowing the other player bluffs and hollywoods alot, and you have a 3 of a kind, it would have been a coin flip for me as to whether I would have stayed in the hand. Since I'm still pretty much a novice player and have no tournament experience, I probably would have folded after the re-raise (chickened out is more like it).
Dale, that 5-2 hand is awesome. Is that coin with a "D" the button? If so, the next 2 players must have been the small and big blinds, and you still played the hand. I think I would have folded, oh, about 100% of the time in that scenario. Flopping the straight flush next is crazy awesome. Wonder what the odds of that are?
-
Yes, the "D" is the button. As for the odds of flopping a straight flush... 1 in 65,000 I think.
-
Wow! I did not notice it was a straight flush. I thought it was just a straight. Very nice indeed! Queen/3 is my version of your 5/2. Although they can't connect, I seem to do pretty good with that hand.

I got mine set for $40 when my local sharper image went out of business. 8)

I'm not liking that set of chips, to disco like for me. I would have rather of had this (http://www.jedidefender.com/gallery/imageFolio.cgi?action=view&link=Conventions/Toy_Fair_2005/Misc&image=tf2058.jpg&img=&tt=) set which MR was supposed to come out with which we talked about in the Other Collectibles (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=6431.0) section of the forum long ago. Looks like a nicer set & none of that neon glow, to bad it never came through. :'(

Flopped a royal flush while playing fake Texas Hold 'Em on XBox 360 the other day. Had 10D QD, flop was JD AD KD. The first royal flush I've ever gotten, and maybe the last: The odds of a getting a royal flush are around 650,000:1 according to a quick Google search. The odds of flopping one are even more astronomical than that, I'm sure.
Anyway, fake poker or no, it was still pretty exciting. (Wish I was playing for real money, though.)

Fake congratulations!

Never tell me the odds!... ::)

Tony G flops Royal Flush vs Juanda vs Antonius (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yPlKIMfLlU) :-*

Just played a quick game online, the K-4 is the 1st all in then A-9 goes all in then 10-A goes all in. Now with me having K-Q suited & short stacked, I figure that's not shabby & go all in. Hell. it's only play $$$.
The flop was great but the turn... ;D

In the end I was 2nd. :P

I know the following doesn't make a lot of sense but it describes my play. I am a somewhat tight player that likes to see a lot of flops.
Someone made a straight on the river on the first hand and that cost me a third of my stack (I had trips). On the third hand I had pocket Queens. I was one of the last players to act in this hand. By the time it got to me the bet was already up to half my chips. I decided to go all in. Very much not my style. LOL, I got five callers!
Another player had pocket Aces and took the pot. Nothing like quintupling your stack by the third hand of a tourny.
Not the craziest story but I thought I would share.

Brutal. Brutal. Brutal.
129 person tournament.
We are down to around 3 or 4 tables. I have around 5K in chips which is slightly higher than the average.
Little/Big blind special.
I had 7/5 off suit and flopped the nut straight. I bet and I am re-raised. I go all in and I am called. The caller has 5/2 off suit giving him a smaller straight.
BTW, it was a rainbow flop. He happened to have one heart. The next two cards? You guessed it. Running hearts giving him a flush.
Ouch.
-
This is the best I have placed in this tournament, I play this 100k challage 3 or 4 times daily. There are currently two separate dates for two separate “Holiday 100k” tournaments that will be played. The dates are December 27th & December 28th, they added a second day because of the demand. The Freerolls start at 40 minutes past every hour & only the top 3 get an entry (2000 FTP's).
It was coming up to the 2nd break when I got KK, all in! ******* pocket AA's! >:(

Playing at FTP just now. I had Kh Jc, guy goes all-in pre-flop for 1000 chips so I fold. Flop is Ac 10c Kc. Turn is Ad. Here comes the river, and wouldn't you know it, it's Qc. Yep, I would have had another royal flush had I called.
Son of bitch. ****.

Now what are the odds of getting a Royal Flush with all the cards! :o :o 8)

For the past few weekends, I have been trying to qualify for the Canada Cup of Poker on Full Tilt. Only 310 players as I did my late registration tonight for the province of Alberta. Only the top 27 qualifiers win.
These are the rules:
Represent your Province in the Canada Cup of Poker. Seven teams from different regions of Canada will battle it out on TV for a share of CAD145K. The winning team will play against the Full Tilt Poker.net pros for a chance to win up to CAD250K.
The Canada Cup of Poker is a new kind of tournament where teams play relay-style with a community stack, rotating “on the button”. You play as an individual, but win or lose as a team.
Seven teams of three will fly to Toronto this August to compete in the televised final table. All teams will take home prize money, with the winning team splitting CAD75K. All three members of the winning Canada Cup team will go on to play heads-up against Full Tilt Pros for up to CAD250K.
Promotion Dates: Friday, June 12th, 2009 to Sunday, August 2nd, 2009.
Each day between Friday, June 12th and Sunday, August 2nd of 2009, Full Tilt Poker.net will hold Canada Cup of Poker Freerolls where players can win entry to the televised Canada Cup of Poker tournament.
Round One Freerolls will be held daily at the following times:
• 19:20 ET: Atlantic Canada (NS, NB, PE, NF)
• 19:20 ET: Quebec
• 20:20 ET: Northern Ontario
• 20:20 ET: Southern Ontario
• 21:20 ET: Prairies/North (Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, Nunavut and NWT)
• 21:20 ET: Alberta
• 23:20 ET: British Columbia
Each Round One Freeroll will award the top 27 finishers a seat to a Canada Cup of Poker Final.
Canada Cup of Poker Finals will take place on:
• Saturday June 27th
• Saturday July 18th
• Sunday August 2nd
Canada Cup of Poker Finals will take place at the following times:
• 13:20 ET: Atlantic Canada (NS, NB, PE, NF)
• 13:20 ET: Quebec
• 14:20 ET: Northern Ontario
• 14:20 ET: Southern Ontario
• 16:20 ET: Prairies/North (Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, Nunavut and NWT)
• 16:20 ET: Alberta
• 17:20 ET: British Columbia
Each Canada Cup of Poker Final will award the winning player a Canada Cup of Poker prize package.
The teams:
To keep your chances of qualifying fair to everyone, we have broken the country down into seven regions instead of 13 Provinces & Territories. This will ensure that everyone has equal opportunity to qualify for their respective team.
Provincial teams are organized as follows:
• Atlantic Canada (NS, NB, PE, NF)
• Quebec
• Northern Ontario
• Southern Ontario
• Prairies/North (Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, Nunavut and NWT)
• Alberta
• British Columbia
Winners will fly to Toronto this August to play on TV at the Canada Cup of Poker. All teams will take home prize money. The winning team is guaranteed CAD75K to share. All three members of the winning team will then play heads-up against Full Tilt Pros on TV, for the chance to win up to CAD250K in additional prize money.
So with my late registration, I have to wait till I am the big blind to play. It's starts off OK & I win a few hands & I'm sitting around 70th-80th position. After a couple of breaks in the game, it goes crazy, the bets & raises get larger.
I win a nice hand & it keeps me in 2nd place with all the players at the tables.
Then I drop to 3rd with another win.
I loose a hand to Polly81 & that drops me down to 6th place with 28 players left. I keep watching the tourney chart for a player to be eliminated. ;D
(http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i306/DSJcdn/Poker/6thcopy.jpg)
Then bang! A player is gone & the game is over after 2 1/2 hrs of play. The last 27 players get this message:
So next Saturday night, I play against a bunch of other Albertan's from all over the province for a chance to go to Toronto. :o 8)
I'm not holding my breath for next Saturday night but wish me luck. :)
-

I was watching last year's final table for the WSOP while home with the flu today. I witnessed the youngest guy ever - 22 - win the title and over 9 million bucks. Kinda gets the juices flowing to play... ;)
-
A whole butt load of bling for that lad!

The tournament was actually today, I just finished a short time ago having pocket Jacks & getting killed off by pocket Aces. Out of 313 players with 228 left, I placed 129. I was in the top 50 before that hand, oh well. :-\
-
I saw a Canadian won the WSOP this year...I was hopeful it was Dale...it wasn't :(
-
Nope, dude was from Montreal & younger than me... $8.9M win is quite the chunk... $10,000 buy in... yeah like I got that laying around... :P

Sell an item or two in your basement and you're golden.

Does anyone watch the WSOP on TV? Why in the world do they think we want to watch it live this year? I have enjoyed this in years past where you get to see it taped and editted, but watching them fold around to the blinds the whole time is crazy boring to me.
