Revealed during the livestream today - Target 2021 Retro Collection Amazing Technicolor Boba Fett. Like the 2019 SDCC Vader with multiple colored parts.
(Gotta collect 'em all, Rob! :P :-X)
Target exclusive; pre-order coming tomorrow 5/5 1pm ET.

Good grief.
Any word yet on if they're doing 20 versions again?

They specifically said the limbs head and body will be randomly colored and will not match each other (but that the rocket will match another piece and the gun is always black.)
You can assume there will be several variations at least of the thousands of combinations possible. And be grateful that Vader stopped at only as many versions as they did.

Here are some snips from the live-stream...

Does that second image indicate that there are three total, or is that just three of the possible larger amount that they'll release?

Reading the fine print, it says "Image illustrates examples of color combinations."
Sounds like a lot more than three.
-
Rob, for your sanity you might want to just pick a few combos you like and go with that.

That image is just a promo - when they announced the Multi-Color Vader they also used three figures (https://www.jedidefender.com/gallery/imageFolio.cgi?action=view&link=Conventions/Star_Wars_Celebration_Chicago_2019/Hasbro/Star_Wars/Press_Images/Kenner_Retro_Collection_3.75-inch/San_Diego_Comic_Con_2019_Exclusive&image=TVC_kenner_retro_special_edition_darth_vader_loose_colors_pose.jpg&img=&tt=) just to get the point across that variants are possible.
Like Steve said, "Image illustrates examples of color combinations". Be prepared for many variations.
Rob: It's just these three... right guys? :-\
The Rest of Us: [whisper]i hope there are dozens of variants[/whisper] >:D
-
Rob, for your sanity you might want to just pick a few combos you like and go with that.
You're totally right, but my whole collection is based around having every decently obvious variant. So color and paint changes... kit-bashes... I don't really want Hasbro to break that.
That said, the 18 from last round were definitely about my limit. If this is similar or fewer, I'll probably go for it. If they start having 30, 40, more variants, I'll sell a bunch of the Vaders and just pick up a few of these and that'll be that.
-
When they debuted this.....I wept for Rob.
-
I appreciate you keeping me in your thoughts over these next few weeks. :-X
-
When are they coming out? There hasn't been any SW figures in our stores in a year. I mean nothing not even peg warmers.

Target exclusive. In stores in the summer (yeah, right). Pre-order starting Wed, 5/5, 1pm ET.
-
Found the link, managed to order two, and now preorders are sold out.
-
Damn. Missed it.
-
$13 instead of $10 this time too. Oof.
-
If I hadn't input a number incorrectly I might have gotten one. By the time I made the correction, he was gone from my cart. :-[
-
Totally missed this. Never showed as instock/available to order for me. Not pleased. Hopefully when the release date comes around it will be available to order.
-
This has been going in and out of stock, so just keep refreshing
-
I wish I knew how many variants there are in total. My guess is it'll be the same thing as Vader was, but last time I only bought one at retail and ended up buying a ton of them for $20 to $25 each and it was stupid. This time, I'd rather just get as many as possible at cost and start trading but certainly don't want to hog more of them than needed to collect one of each.
-
If I recall, whatever extras/duplicates I had, I traded for what I needed and what I was missing, I bought for less than $20 each...
Unfortunately, considering that the cost of Vader on the aftermarket has risen to INSANE levels, that won't happen this time around, scalpers will be wanting current Vader levels for Fett right out of the gate.
-
That's my worry. For Vader, I think I managed to buy about 6 or 8 of them at retail, and ended up buying about 10 or 12 on eBay. They were usually about $17 or $18, but then there was shipping too... I vaguely remember thinking that if I got one for $23 total, it was generally a win.

have essentially tanked my work day refreshing the darn Target website - no such luck I'm afraid... >:(
-
This is exactly why people get sick of collecting. Exclusives that sell out in seconds thanks to bots, and then never show up in stores for the bulk of us. Compound that with Target not allowing the website to show if your local store has stock of the item when the release date hits. For Vader, I never even saw a tag for the figure at the store and their Star Wars section was nearly empty of any product. Hopefully I can find these for not too inflated prices on the secondary market because I doubt I will find them in stores.
-
Apparently there are only 6 variants - one per helmet color.
I’m suddenly not so worried about putting a set together.
-
I’m suddenly not so worried about putting a set together.
I'm still worried about getting one without having to pay crazy scalper prices...
-
I'm hoping that once they hit stores the scalper prices will drop down into something reasonable. I have two orders with Target, assuming they don't cancel one, I just need four. If I can get them for $25 each or somewhere in there, I'm alright with it. It would still be less than half of what that Vader set cost to put together.
Considering that a loose Vader is getting $50 on eBay now, what I really should do is sell 17 of them instead of buying 6 Fetts.

If you’re interested, barring any issues with my order, I will have an extra Fett that I am looking to trade for a Vader.
-
Appreciate the offer, but the collection is as complete as I can figure out how to make it, so I’m hanging onto the Vader’s. I’m just kidding around about how if I was smart, I’d take the money and run.

No worries, I can appreciate wanting to keep the set together.
If anyone else is interested hit me up
-
I'll be looking for a single Fett - any color combo and any card condition - if anyone ends up getting an extra they're willing to sell at a reasonable price.
I'm going to hit up all the Targets in the area when these are supposed to hit, but I'm not optimistic.
-
Just got shipping notices for the two orders I was able to place a few weeks ago.
-
Same here, should have my Fetts by Tuesday the 27th. A few days earlier than expected which is nice since they have delayed the next TBS wave for 3 months. >:(

I hit EP and Shakopee today in anticipation - nothing on the pegs, no display endcaps, and no sign of the name or DPCI in the system. I'm having doubts about these showing up on Sunday.
-
Anybody have any luck finding this today? A bunch of us fanned out across the dozens of Minneapolis Targets and came up empty.
-
I didn’t see any sign of these here in Virginia either. :(
-
Was at my local store here in the Chicago burbs and while they confirmed today was listed as the first day of sale for the DPCI none were in stock at the store or other local stores. And nothing was listed as due in any time soon. Makes me wonder if it will even reach stores or if it will be an unintentional online only exclusive.
-
The guy I talked to in the store said they were expected in around august 13. I agree these may never make it to the pegs.
The good news is that it appears those that are getting their preorders filled are getting them from a distribution center and not stores.
-
Wasn't the prototype Vader similarly hard to get at first?
-

Was there ever an "at second"? I only have the three I own thanks to a friend. I never saw them in store.
-
Vader was in and out of stock regularly for a little while. I ordered like 8 at one point on their website from my local store…

I swear Matt's big haul was a restock.
-
Fett is currently showing ad available at several stores… or as something I can order with a July 29 arrival, but it won’t let me put it in my cart no matter what combination of stores or shipping methods I try.
-
Same here. Kind of weird. At least now I have an idea what local stores I can bug an employee at and possibly be successful...
-
The website said my local store had 8 in stock, so I raced down there and there were two other collectors trying to get them too, and the stock clerks couldn't find any sign of them.
-
Do we know where these will be on the sales floor? If it's in the regular upcoming toy reset then they're probably trapped on a transition pallet and we get to wait until they actually reset the new planogram.
-
I've got no idea. I'd assume regular aisle... I've heard people found them on endcaps... the guy this morning said he thinks the one case that went out was put into the adult collectible toys section near video games... who knows.

I would be surprised to find them in that Electronics gaming section just based on the DPCI. Action figures are most all 087-16 now right? Do the collectibles have a different identifier? Its worth checking I guess. I've hit three Targets in the last 24 hours or so and they all have no clue about where these are. Not in the back, not locked up in electronics, not in the inventory, and not in transit.
-
Whatever was going on with their website today seems to have passed. They just come up as Out of Stock now.
-
The two I managed to order got here today… red and blue down, four to go…
-
I get "not sold at this store" for every store in a 30 mile radius. Guess I'm stuck with ebay trying to find two of these.
-
I’m actively looking for the other four on eBay now. I bought one for $35 shipped just now, and I have 3 to go.
I’ll try to buy them fast so Target will release 12 billion of them the next day and you can all get them on clearance.
-
I saw a set of six on FB Marketplace for $250. Seems going rate for single figures are about $40 on there.
-
They showed up as available for pick up locally again overnight so I gave it a shot. I got a ready for pick up email a bit ago, and now they look to be sold out everywhere again. So at least some are reshipping.
Glad to finally have one waiting for me.
-
I got an order in for one at a Target 42 miles from my house this morning ,but was going to go to Ikea on Saturday anyway, so I did it.
Then 2 hours later they said they couldn't fill the order. Shocking.
-
Yeah, I had two orders get taken then cancelled like that on Monday. I wasn't holding my breath on this one today, but we'll see when I pick it up...
-
Yesterday's order was successfully retrieved-Red Helmet version. I just checked and saw another local store had a few in stock so I grabbed another, it's a figure I can totally imagine keeping one carded version of, if nothing else to go along with the Vader from a couple years back that I didn't have the heart to open since it was so hard to get.
Edit: they cancelled the order today. I am 1 for 4 on store puck ups.
A few of the locations near me also say "Limited stock, not eligible for store pick-up" so there might be reason to go out and hunt if you are still looking.
-
Curious to know if anyone has found these in store versus online ordering. Sounds like some people did in store pick up, but has anyone tracked them down in person using the DPCI or other options? Still no sign of them in the Twin Cities as far as I know.
-
I haven't seen any hint. A week ago my local store was listed as having 8 in stock, but no one could find them. Odds are someone swiped the case to buy later and it was still in the system.
Meanwhile, I've bought the four I needed on eBay... just waiting for the Green and Yellow ones to get here in the mail. It was worth the extra $80 to me just to be done with it.
-
So, a bunch of these popped into stock over night. I placed an order at midnight for one, but of course it was cancelled by 6:00. I have since watched Fett pop up in 3 additional stores and placed an order at each one at a time, only to have Target INSTANTLY cancel the order. I think they have a flag behind the scenes to cancel your order if you already placed one, but it doesn't reset if your order is cancelled. Anyone else seeing something like this? I literally get the cancellation notice email BEFORE I get the order confirmation email at each store.
-
I haven't had any immediate cancelations. But 3 times I've had them get canceled an hour or two later when the employees couldn't locate the stock.
-
So, I spent a good deal of time talking to Target about my order issues this morning. Couple of interesting findings to share with the group:
#1 - if you get an email that says they can't fulfill your order, that is NOT a cancellation. Open up the email and click "Check Alternate Options" then try to move your pick-up to another store
#2 - if you cancel the order at any time the system locks you out for 24 hours. That means you can place another order for it, but you will instantly get a cancellation notice. Apparently it needs that amount of time to verify that you didn't pick up the order. This is 24 hours from the point when the order is officially cancelled - it isn't cancelled if it just says they can't fill your order.
#3 - your order will be cancelled automatically after 24 hours if you do nothing, but that means you're waiting 48 hours from the time you placed the order until the time you can place another order that won't be automatically cancelled.
#4 - you can create another account to increase your chances, but you need a different email/phone/credit card
I can't figure out in this day and age why they would make a system that prevents you from ordering the same item again within 24 hours. Maybe to prevent pranksters from repeatedly ordering and cancelling something? Not sure why that would matter if no one has gone to fill the order yet anyway.
I tried ordering from four stores today and got the auto cancel on the last three because my initial order wasn't cleared out of the system. I just cancelled a few hours ago, so can't reorder any of the Fetts that are popping up until tomorrow. I made a second account and tried to order one that way, but got the dreaded "your item is unavailable" email. This time I clicked Alternate Options to order from a different store. Looks like that still didn't work - it shows as cancelled on Target.com, but I haven't gotten an email about it yet. Hopefully I can still order if more show up at least versus the auto cancellation on the other account.
Since stores appear to be getting only 3-4 of these and all the online orders are getting cancelled, I'm guessing employees are picking them up in the staging area then zeroing them out of the system. There's no locations showing up using the DPCI and my understanding is that the fulfillment orders get taken care of before items get put on the floor. I'm sure there will be lots of these popping up on FB Marketplace shortly. What a joke.
*Update* - moving the item to another store only worked the one time. When the second store didn't come through, they just cancelled the order, so you apparently can't keep trying at other stores. Now both accounts are locked out of ordering until tomorrow. Neat!
-
I did notice point 1 there with my orders
But what good is it if the thing is sold out everywhere anyway.
-
This makes me nervous for the General Merrick X-wing.
-
I think that one will be fine. Big price tag. Less popular character. No reason to collect 6 of them...
If they don't dramatically underproduce them and you're willing to pay full price, you'll be able to get one.
-
I have no problem paying retail for this....seeing as it's about $120 is I recall correctly. It's just becoming tougher to get store exclusives....the internet was supposed to make it easier for us instead it helps the scalpers in a lot of cases!
-
Wonder how many d-bags will pre-order, snag the Merrick, then return the ship to a brick and mortar?
-

I'll take the over.
-
Definitely checking the package before I purchase!
-
Definitely checking the package before I purchase!
The worst part with that is that someone trying to return one with the wrong figure in it could just as easily be a person who bought one that was already swapped and really got scammed, as it could be the original scammer.

Remember the Episode 1 Queen's Starship where people just cut out the R4 droid? Good times!
-
That astromech was visible. Can you imagine someone keeping this vehicle sealed, opening it or re-selling it in a few years and only finding out then the figure is missing? Or worse, the figure is missing and the vehicle replaced?
Whether I find it online or brick-and-mortar, I'm also checking immediately.
-
Thanks to two fellow MN collectors tipping me off, I was able to pick-up a Retro Multi-Color Fett at a nearby Target today. It was quite the rush this afternoon, nervously watching my Target app, wondering whether "ready for pick-up" or "cancelled" was going to pop up after "processing".
I went from wanting none to wanting to all six variants to just being happy to finally have one to display next to my multi-color Vader. :P
-
Just an add on to my original post in case anyone is still having trouble. If you ordered and your order was cancelled, the Target system may have your account locked in a "pending" status. I waited over 24 hours to place another order and still got the auto cancel. I finally called Target and got through to someone who was able to reset my account, showing the system that I did not purchase one of these. From there, I had to wait an additional 24 hours for everything to clear out, then was able to place an order and it actually went through! I think you may get knocked out of pending status eventually by doing nothing, but every time you place an order that 24 hour clock resets on you. I do know that some people have been able to get multiple in separate orders, but looks like you have to wait 24-48 hours to get another order in.
-

I'm still trying to get all 6, but definitely not loving all the hoops I've had to jump through to do it.
And..."Nataku?"

Are these still showing up or have they run their course? I’m wondering if I made a smart moving buying 4 at eBay prices or if they’re likely to turn up still at retail prices.
-
It's been at least a week since any stores showed any stock at stores within 50 miles of me. I think it's over.
-

While we are in the same area... my call is that shipping is slow on everything. Hasbro transformers slots on Target shelves are pretty bare. Ive also seen no new TVC since the Snaggletooth / Greef Karga wave. I don't have an explanation for why some cases of these Fetts have arrived in stores and now its slow. I'm not going to freak out thou and pay anything over retail for these.
-
Through a mix of Scalpers, Site-to-store, and collector friends I was able to get a full set of six of these.
- I bought two from Marketplace ($75 shipped) after getting over a dozen cancelled orders from Target.com.
- I finally got one and only one through Target.com site-to-store when they finally cleared out my order history.
- A local friend sold me his three extras for $50 (two I needed plus a dupe).
- Another friend magically found the last one I needed hanging on the pegs in the Collectibles section and sold it for $15
- I sold my extra to a different local friend for $!5
All said and done, that's $23 per Fett, which doesn't sound that terrible until you realize it's about $60 that I wouldn't have paid if these had just shown up at Target. Walmart still sucks, but you're fast on their heels Target...
-
You've got me beat. I got two in the initial pre-order window for $13.11 each. Then (with shipping) bought four individual ones on eBay. I paid $38.52, $41.53, $37.49, and $39.51.
$30.55 average. At least there were only 6 this time instead of 18. And yeah compared to what they'd cost at retail, this is pretty bad... but compared to what a Vader sells for now, it's pretty good... I suppose.
-
I spent $0.00 and have 0. :-\
-
I live in the Minneapolis area also known as the home of Target. Previously the desktop version of target.com would only show that 20% of our many local stores were either "in stock/out of stock" with the rest saying "not available at this store". Today all of those stores that were "in stock/out of stock" are now listed as "no longer available at this store".
Everybody panic >:D
