Other Collectibles / Re: Galaxy of Adventures 5" Figures
« on: December 2, 2019, 09:41 AM »
I found Han and Threepio yesterday at a Wal*Mart. So far I have all the OT figures plus the Rey and Kylo 2-pack. I like them, and I am happy to collect this line in lieu of the Black Series.

My only complaint this far is the chintzy gold plastic of the Threepio...I wish they had just opted for doing solid yellows and tans like the Droids version from '85. I may be looking into chroming this figure up somehow.

Agreed. The search function brings up categories, not an alphanumeric search as one would hope. I have found everything I was looking for eventually and made sure to put it all in my watchlist, except for the Toy Story TV Specials my son loves (Toy Story That Time Forgot and Toy Story of Terror) which I am assuming at this point are tied up on someone else's service for the time being. I even found that old "Mickey Donald and Goofy as Ghostbusters" I had on my Kenner Movie Viewer as a kid: amazing to see it with sound, Goofy even says "I ain't afraid of no ghosts" 50 years before Ray Parker Jr. did!

I have had the choice to "resume" or "restart" since launch, my app is through Roku. Maybe that's the difference?

Once I made it through the first 3 hours of the launch, there have been no streaming bugs on either TV I've used. One TV insisted on playing with German subtitles the first day, then switched to no subtitles for Wednesday morning before correcting itself (our default mode is watching with captions on because I have terrible upper-band hearing from rockin' in the 90's and it helps the kids to subconsciously read while watching.)

Between me and the boys, we have already gotten our money's worth out of the service.

Anybody streaming yet?  I've heard a lot of people are having trouble with some shows.

I tried to check out The Mandalorian, but it wasn't letting me.  I had a buddy down that hall watching it during lunch and he screenshotted a pic for me.

So I just clicked the little magnifying glass, found The Black Hole, and started watching that.  I haven't seen it since I was a kid.

After a half hour of false starts I was finally able to get in to see the Mandalorian around 9:30 this morning. Poking around just now it seems like everything is up and running.

Love "The Black Hole" RIP Robert Forster!

First episode was solid, but it took a lot of trying to get it to play.

The spoiler was quite unexpected, and I was expecting something sideways out of that reveal. Just not...that...at all.

Anyone else think the big reveal is that "The Mandalorian" is Boba Fett?

I think it will be something along those lines, too...my mind keeps running the gamut of "he will make an offhand comment implying Boba Fett is still alive" to "he IS Boba Fett!!!"

What I would love to see is the revelation that Boba Fett hired skilled guys to dress up in the outfit and basically "franchised" the name out to maximize his profits, there were two or three Boba Fetts out working separate bounties at any given time across the galaxy. This would give us the leeway for the Mandalorian to reveal it was actually him who captured Han Solo, and some other d-bag was the guy who got swallowed by the Sarlacc...while the true Boba has been sitting back biding his time and collecting money. With the highly public "death" of Boba Fett, the money stream dried up, so the Mandalorian went off on his own. Now, maybe Fett will be tying up loose ends and the two of them could come into conflict. It would also be a great way to bring Jodo Cast back into the canon.

But that's just my mind working on it, I'm sure it will go off in some other direction.

I had to rewind/rewatch the snippet of the Mandalorian with the Ugnaught...because goddamn is that Nick Nolte under the CG'd prosthetics??!?!?!

Yes, same thing happened at my local Target last week after two cases of the TROS wave sold through (except for one Pilot Luke with his mouth printed on his right cheek.)

The funny thing is, everyone sold but Snoke, Jyn, and a FO Stormtrooper. Now there are 6 Snokes and 8 Jyns at that store. I have strong hopes that the Stormie will sell soon!

My guess/conspiracy theory is she got pulled from the case (or if these are solid cases of individual figures from the Wave, hers got held back) so they could revise the number on her card to VC150 as was announced at NYCC but has been seen to so far be incorrect.

I think the death of 3 3/4" is just a statement on the lack of the 5POA line and their accompanying vehicles.

It is the equivalent of if, in 2016, Rogue One had only had the WalMart Black Series lineup and the AT ST. There would have been stuff, sure, but the bulk of the line would've been "missing."

For sure. I think there might be a Burlington around me, but definitely not a Ross. Any other discount outlets that occasionally stock TVC?

We were driving through the strip mall on the other side of town, where a new Ollie's has come in to replace our old Toys R Us. (Burlington has been there forever.) One of the vacant spots had a huge sign up saying "coming soon: Ross" and when I let out an excited squeal my wife asked if it's supposed to be a good store. I replied no it supposed to be a disgusting place, but I hear they get clearanced Star Wars toys! She rolled her eyes.

Yeah, there are still quite a few of those left after the July presell. I have just started building them for everybody, it's a fun one to do!

Regular price is $30 shipped, but the "JD-member" discounted price of $25 still stands. PM me if you're interested and we can work it out!

« on: September 6, 2019, 04:17 PM »
I sincerely hope so.  Could WalMart seriously be waiting to stock these until Triple Force Friday?

I really think this is the case. The current Walmart planogram has 0 TVC presence, and includes the Solo Kessel Playset. I expect Jabba's Palace to show up in store (if at all) when the planogram revises for Triple Force Friday.

Without spoiling too much are the Knights of Ren all the same or do they all have different outfits?  Basically, is this figure just one of the knights, or is it basically an army builder?

He is just one of the Knights ("Axer" is the descriptor assigned to this design) and not an army builder. Each knight is unique.

I heard a rumor that they might be abandoned ISDs from when the Empire broke up after the battle of Jakku.  If you notice, there aren't very many lights in a majority of them.

Dark Force Rising, anyone?

Because I am never satisfied, as soon as this was confirmed I started wishing and hoping for an appearance by Liam Neeson from time to time as the Ghost of Qui-Gon.
