Hasbro sent along a little 30th Anniversary Collection Update as part of this week's Q&A:
Due to unavoidable production delays, the first waves of Star Wars 30th Anniversary basic figures for 2007 will be delayed until March. We are looking at every way to get the figures in earlier, but fans should not expect to find them on shelf on 1/1 as we were hoping. We expect subsequent waves beyond the first to be on schedule shortly thereafter. We'll keep everyone updated as needed, but please be patient. Thanks!
Looks like we'll be seeing the Final 22 repack waves for a while... :-\

This is quite a disappointment since I've really been looking forward to the 30th Anniversary waves. I guess the positive side is that the pocket book will not be taking a hit right away.

I'm happy with the delay. My bank account will definatly enjoy a 2-3 month break :)
-
I dunno, the news just bugs me. I couldnt wait to get my hands on some Galactic Marines in January. I was counting the days. And I hope this doesnt push back release of other waves. Not a big gripe, considering that this MOC completist has more time to finish off the TSC , but, just a bummer. :(
-
Two words: Woo hooo!
-
I bet the "delay" is that Hasbro is sitting on cases and cases of Endor/Naboo/Tattoine waves, and the Final 22 and they need a few months to clear them out.
-
Put me down as one the relieved. :D
-
This is actually somewhat welcome news. Especially since Gentle Giant is hitting collectors of their lines with quite a bit of product in December alone. I can allocate more of my budget to GG and hold off on Hasbro for a while now.
-
very true, nicklab. a break from hasbro may be nice for a little while. i may even just collect some more galactic heroes while i wait.
-
Yes & no. No because I wanted the 30th A figures soon. Yes because I' catch up on the Enbooine wave & the last 3 waves. PLus this years troopers.
-
does this mean Hasbro can be nice and send some of the last 22 to canada ::)
and about the delay...what is it till MArch 1st? good...right on time for my birthday :)
-
Good. I will probably need the 3 months just to find 2 of each army builder I want...maybe.
-
While I'll enjoy being able to save money for the new figures and/or catch up on the Final 22, I could have sworn Hasbro already stated somewhere that the 30AC wouldn't begin shipping until March/April. Ah well, doesn't really matter now.
-
Of course this means absolutely nothing will be on the pegs... ::) If we're lucky we'll finally see Naboo wave. :D

They made an official announcement a while back that both lines would be shipping concurrently until March/April. This recent announcement of delay is the first I've heard of a delay.
-
This works for me pretty well because I really needed a break to some extent and I've yet to see Final 22 figures at all on the pegs. Some time for them to hit in some quantity will be appreciated... I had some fear that retailers would favor the new line over the old, and the final 22 would've still been a pain to find. So now I'm kind of hoping this gives them a better shot for shelf space.
I think that's something that's been an issue at some stores with Greatest Hits/Basic waves shipping together... One gets favored over the other by the purchaser and we wind up with GH's taking up more space at some stores, and basic figures getting hosed a little bit. At least that's how it seems around me at some stores. Others are putting both out as they should.
-
One could wonder if it's really a shelf space issue. Perhaps retailers weren't all that thrilled to have to allocate more shelf space to SW and ultimately put a kibosh on the idea to run both lines concurrently.
-
Greatest Hits takes more space than any other toys in the store, that is what I think the delay is about, because The Walmart Cantina Aliens Wave/ BARC Wave should have been now before christmas.
-
it was supposed to hit shelves today. :(
what id like to know is what 'production delays' postponed the release.
but if it gives the appos and BARCs more time to surface, im Ok, i just wanted to start on my gal. marines. :(
