Title: What figures do you display twice?
Post by: Jim on February 23, 2006, 10:23 AM
Not just the new SAGA but all figs to this point.  For example, I display the following:

Veers with AT-AT accessories and without

C-3PO with Droid accessories and without

OTC Dagobah Luke standing and handstand

Anakin Mustafar robed and with battle damage

Curious as to what everyone else does since some figures could technically be two figures.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for that kind of thing.  Off the top of my head, I know I've got:

- 2x Saga Deluxe C-3PO/Battl Droid set, one with correct heads, one with heads swapped
- 2x OTC Dagobah Luke, one handstanding and one with Yoda in the backpack.
- 2x #35 Palpy, one posed with "good" head & saber and a second posed with the evil head & force lightning.
- 2x #50 Anakin, one displayed with full robes and one Crispy/crippled

And there may be a few others that I'm forgetting.  I definitely like to have 2x figures so I can show off both poses/sculpts when stuff like that pops up.  I really liked that Dagobah Luke for that reason, it was like 2 figures in one!  Too bad they can't do that kind of stuff more often, but they did manage it a few times with #35 Palpy and #50 Anakin having extra heads.

The only one of those I have is the ROTS crispy Anakin - and only because of the interchangable/removable situation with the arms,  head, and legs...

If a figure can have multiple homes in dioramas, I'll display it maybe up to 10 times, like the ROTS C3PO or a Tatooine Luke or the ROTS pilot Obi Wan.

I can't think of one single figure that I didn't buy at least two of anyway to open.  Some figures that aren't army builders I might buy 5-10 for display just for customs from simple head swaps to more complex stuff.

I've given serious consideration to buying multiples of the same figure for different displays, but my procrastination won out.

Aside from army-builders, I think I only have ROTS pilot Obi-Wan out someplace twice. I have him on Mustafar looking down at stumpy Anakin, and on my desk dueling Evo Anakin. I didn't buy multiples just to display, though. We all know how they burned us on multiple repacks in the ROTS line (Bail, Jukassa, Emperor, Anakin, Obi-Wan... God, it goes on and on). ::) Anyway, I don't mind having two of him. Great figure.

Since I bought Hoth Artoo for the accessories, I have two of him. I have him with Luke, Yoda and said accessories on my desk; EB Artoo is on my Heroes of the Rebellion shelf.

Have two of Bly's troopers backing him up with rifles, and one near Secura holding his helmet and blaster....

Great question, BTW.

I forgot about the ROTS Palpatine.  I have him displayed twice as well.  Same as Jeff.  I have only one other fig displayed this way.  SAGA Luke Hoth. One with the Wampa Cave upside down and one in normal stance.

I've been known to display astromechs twice if they're listed as being seen in multiple places.  Like one on the streets of Mos Eisley that showed up in the rebel hangar or some such...

I display multiples of army builders almost routinely.  2 Royal Guards flanking Palpatine for instance, as I have none of my outrageous armies displayed but a double-up is cool.

I was just writing up my Veers digs actually and while I really actually loathe the Veers figure in several levels, I do think there's some justification for displaying two if that's your gig.

Same with the Gonk droid...  In the hangar he's got a very similar version of himself behind him sans head port things.  He could be bought a 2nd time and displayed without his attachments and look pretty spiffy.

C-3PO Removable Limbs could be built and also in the bag riding on Chewbacca...

Do the 3 head variants of the Fleet Trooper and Imp Officer count too? :)  Or the Blue & Brown coat Han Solo Hoth figures?

OOOOOOooo  Blue/Brown debate...  That brings back some good memories.

Imperial officers are always worth a couple, just because they blend in to the background nice with groups of troops. I have 6 of the POTJ officer, 3 Ozzels, 2 Pietts, and 3 saga veers. The stormtrooper utility belt that came with the saga Target accesory packs actually looks pretty good on the black uniformed POTJ officer.
Ditto for imperial astromechs. 3 R4-19's, 2 R2-Q5's, and 5 R4-M9's scurrying about.
The deeper we get into the line though, the more likely we are to have multiples loose whether we like it or not. The multipacks and case assortments that include previous issues with new figures will soon have us all swimming in that hoth darth mold. Is this the 4th time it's been used now, only a couple years after it came out?

Unreal... I was going through a ton of customizing fodder, and realized that I have over 3,000 loose figures now.

I've got 2 Codys displayed.  One helmeted with his rifle, the other one's craddling his helmet in his left hand and the right holding out Obi-Wan's (55) unlit lightsaber. He looks pretty damn cool with a lightsaber...
