Title: Master Replicas: Mini-sabers
Post by: Dengar on May 25, 2004, 10:50 PM
I am sorry if there is already a thread about this.  I was looking to see if there was.

I just recieved my Luke mini saber, I have the other two coming when they are available.

I was just wondering what everyone thought about them?  I was sorta shocked at how small it was, but it does look really cool.

I think they're pretty neat, but I dont collect them since I have their large counterparts.

Lucky!!!!

Actually having this small one is making me want a big one more, I know that I will eventually end up getting one.

I still havent seen them in person yet, but I've heard lots of good things. They look top notch in the pictures, cant be beat at that price either

The pics make em look bigger, but they do look cool, but they are really small.

If I go to GenCon this year, I may pick up the exclusive AFBB Obi Wan saber

I was definitely interested in these when they first announced them, 'cause I'm not currently willing/able to afford the better, larger versions right now like Daddy Warbucks here...   ;)  Still haven't decided though.  I know some day I'd eventually like to have the larger ones, so I'm tempted to just hold out for those, and not mess with these smaller ones.

But they definitely look cool, and are an excellent, more affordable option for Master Replicas collectibles...

Here's a nice comparison shot (from this auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=751&item=5901894309&rd=1)) of the size of the regular sabers vs. the size of these new scaled down ones:

Dammit, these little things are tempting...   :-\

I have to admit, when I first opened my mini-Luke I was disappointed.  It was SO small.  I know the size was listed when I purchased the set but I was stunned when I got it.  I hemmed and hawed about sending it back until it finally grew on me.  I actually like the way it is displayed in the book form but since the case for all three is free, I'll end up using that when it comes.  My card was charged today for the next one up (Obi-wan's) so that should be here by next week.  I want the mini AFBB Obi-wan from the convention circuit but am not so sure about ordering the gold one from the collector society exclusive offering.
I really am looking forward to the "dark-side" sabers, I really think Dooku's will be the best of the three.  This really is the way to go if you are thinking about any type of replica but don't want to drop hundreds of dollars on purchasing the "actual" size ones.

Got my display case today!  Very cool.  I threw my exclusive AFBB Obi1 in there until my mini Mace saber arrives (my account showed a charge for it today so it won't be long now.  The case is exactly like the Sith Collection case they showed at Comic Con so I knew what to expect.

Well, this was probably the most short lived Star Wars collection ever for me. lol These just weren't that special to me, and since I've got their big brothers, I'm not overly interested in them. So, in an effort to help turn JediMAC over to the Master Replicas side of the force, I think I'm turning them over to him ;) Now if I can just get him interested in their larger counterparts lol

I can't do the full scale MRs simply because of the price.

For those that have the convention obiwan when you opened it did you find that you had the wrong piece for the stands?

Matt:  When I ordered the minis, I ordered the complete set off the hop so I got the display case (it actually arrived before the Mace saber.)  My convention Ob1 is the only one sitting by itself now that I have the stand.

Hemish: My convention saber stand was a-ok.  Maybe you got a dud.  That really sucks if you did.  Are you sure you put the pieces in the correct sides?

how did you get 2 display cases? i still haven't gotten mine yet, since i ordered my mini sabers through a comic shop, who gets stuff through diamond. i was told the case will ship with mace windu, and they haven't come in yet  >:(

but now i realize that i have the comic-con obi wan on the way (thanks matt  ;D ) and i won't be able to put it in the stand with the rest  >:(

I got my first case from MR (as I ordered the Jedi collection set so the case was free) and then I just ordered another on from www.toynk.com.

Their price was the same as MR was selling them for and shipping was a buck cheaper.  I got it in less than a week after I ordered so I highly recommend them!!

How 'bout right now...

Here (http://shop.starwars.com/Landing.aspx?ReferrerID=CJADLK-00001), at SWS.com.  $35 a pop, ships in September sometime, and absolutely no guarantee whatsoever that your stuff will arrive in decent condition, if at all.

Not that I don't have any faith in SWS.com, but...   ::)

Nice collection pix there too, Beth!  I assume the couple blank spots in the second case are to be filled with future offerings?  The label might be a little "off" if the next Jedi blades come out in 2005!  ;)  I couldn't find that display case on the site you linked to there though...  I need one, as I already have 2 of those Jedi sabers, so I'm not doing that package deal thing with the case included...

I'm excited that these are being released.  Wondering if they are going to make another stand for them or possibly sell them together as a set like the first 3.  I would have also liked to have seen a full Darth Maul Lighsaber but hey, it can always be the next convention exclusive.

I can't say it for certain, but I'm pretty damn sure that it'll be just like the Jedi Collection.  At Comic Con, they had all 3 mini Sith sabers sitting in a stand just like the Jedi Collection with "2004 Sith Collection" written across the front.

You guys catch that news on the currently UK only exclusive ANH Obi-Wan saber?  Man, that sucks big time, but I've got to assume it'll eventually make it's way Stateside in some manner as well...  Hopefully...

Supposed to be available through walmart.com of all places. When, I don't know, but hopefully soon, and hopefully I'm able to get one. I don't feel like paying $70+ on ebay - that's what they are going for already.

Yah, I have been scouting Walmart.com several times a day waiting for the mini Obiwan to show up.  I'm glad that they were able to score 500 out of the 2500 production run but they'll probably hit the web Saturday or Sunday when I will have no internet access  :P.

I have an empty spot in the obiwan case, right above the CS gold one :).

Try www.thesabervault.com
That is were I ordered my set and there is no shipping (saves you $28.00 bucks right there).  Besides, Jeff is an awesome person to deal with and just about everyone in 'scums prop community uses him.  If you have any questions, just email him.

Might just do that.  Thanks Beth!  But is there a way to pay them without being dinged their 4% "handling fee", which is for all credit card and Paypal orders?

EDIT:  Nevermind.  Just caught this on their site:

Quote
There is an extra 4% handleing fee that is added on Credit Card orders.  If TSV sold items at retail prices or just under retail price, the 4% fee wouldn't be an issue.  But, because we offer them at such low prices, if people want to pay with credit cards, the extra 4% that paypal charges to use their service must be added.  If you would like to save that extra 4% you can also pay with money orders.

Money orders only, eh?  That's kind of a pain.  Why can't they just accept non-credit card Paypal payments without charging the extra 4%?
Title: Re: Master Replicas, mini sabers

Don't know but my paypal payment to Jeff came directly out of my checking account not from any credit card.  I just assume you get hit with a fee if your registered as a business.  Not really sure, I paid you by paypal before, did you ever get charged a fee??  You shouldn't have since it came directly from my checking account.  I would be pretty pissed off at paypal if I found out they were taking money from people I paid and charged them some bogus cc fee when it was never sent to anyone that way.

Please let me know on this one, Matt.

PS:  I did send Jeff an email asking him if, in fact, paypal took a fee for handling my transaction.  I'm just fuming that I am assuming people are getting the full amount of what I owe and that paypal might be ripping them off.
Title: Re: Master Replicas, mini sabers
Post by: JediMAC on September 30, 2004, 02:07 AM
Beth, Jeff would still be getting the full amount that you owe him, but he's having you pay an extra 4% on top of that to cover the Paypal fees is all.  Basically, it depends on what kind of Paypal account you have, I guess.  I believe that once you accept your first credit card payment, you fall under their "professional" account, or something like that, and you get tagged for 4% for every payment you receive from then on, or maybe just every credit card payment you receive.  Not sure, but I believe it's the former.  So basically, most people who do any type of business using Paypal are under the account that gets charged a fee for each payment, which is why a lot of people jack up their prices, or even shipping charges, to cover the Paypal fee.  What's funny, is that eBay won't allow you to charge the extra 4% Paypal fee to your buyers (since they're affiliated companies)...

Anyway, I personally don't get charged any fees, because I still have the basic/low level Paypal account, since I ONLY accept checking or balance transfers from people for stuff.  I think the second that I accept a credit card payment from someone, I'm screwed (charged) from then on.  But so far, so good for me, since everyone I deal with is impeccable when it comes to following my payment instructions!   ;)

The thing that sucks about money orders, is that it will still cost me an extra buck just to get one, that I shouldn't have to spend to pay for something...  Oh well, I'll live!

No no, doing the whole Sith set.  The Vader is the 1st to ship from MR.  Not 20 mins ago I got my shipping confirmation for the Sith display case as well.  I guess they are doing it different this time (shipping the case w/ the 1st saber instead of the last saber.)  Still no sign of WalMart.com selling that weathered Obi1.

Ah, I see.  So they don't ship them all out at once, even if you actually ordered the entire Sith Collection, eh?  One at a time...  Prolong the fun a little.  I get it now.

Definitely makes sense to ship the case with the first one though, lest the first couple wind up getting all dusty while waiting for the case to come with the last one.  So that's a good change at least.

Hey everyone,
I figured I had to chime in on this forum.  Im into the minis
too, and I just got and opened my Darth mini today.

AWESOME !

Its a little tricky to fit onto the support properly.  I think
the little 'box' on the side of the hilt has to face downward
based on the support tabs.  It looks good.   ;)

I, too, am waiting for the 'weathered'-wan mini.  Does
anyone have an idea when they're supposed to hit?

As for the mini weathered, don't hold your breath.  We've all been waiting for like 3 weeks or so.

FedEx just dropped off my mini Vader saber.  Very damn cool piece.  The display kinda sucks in the fact that you have to point the emitter box down toward the base for a "perfect" fit on the display.  Oh well.  Hopefully my Sith display case will be here tomorrow (FedEx.com says it will.)

Anyone know a good site to buy a Jedi display case cheap?  I need another one to house my CC Obi1 and weathered Obi1 (whenever I end up getting that one.)
Title: Re: Master Replicas, mini sabers

Im in the same boat, HoloElvis.  I bought TWO of the
SITH display cases, but Ill end up putting my extra
CC-Obi, GoldenObi, and Obi-weathered in it.  But Id rather
have had a case for them with "JEDI" on it, and not "SITH".

(In fact, if anyone wants to just TRADE my extra SITH case for your JEDI case, Ill pay for the all the shipping costs both ways...)

One more thing... when I put my SITH cases side-by-side,
I notice that the plastic cover has a 'front' and a 'back'.
If they're on opposite as each other, then theyre not level
front and back with each other. (backside is a smidge higher
is what Im saying -- but its not noticable unless you have
another one next to it)

Vader's saber sure looks pertty. :)  I also received my mini Vader and Display case a few days ago, Man I love these mini's!  For those of us that can't afford the big boys these are a wonderful alternative.

Anyone know a good site to buy a Jedi display case cheap?  I need another one to house my CC Obi1 and weathered Obi1 (whenever I end up getting that one.)

Yeah, I also missed out on the Jedi Display case.  They are sold out everywhere.  I was very lucky to find a place that had one last one here plasmainfusion.com (http://www.plasmainfusion.com/) (Great service, btw)  It seems Epay is the only option. :(  I still need an extra one for the exclusive mini's.

FYI - there is a new ebay auction for the case plus sabers
with BIN.   I wont post the auction no, cuz I dont know the
rules about promoting auctions (and I am *not* affiliated
with whoever is running this auction, btw).

You can find it if you search for "jedi mini case"

I only mention it in case any readers are interested.

p.s.  too rich for my blood.  I already got all the jedi minis
individually.

Please give us a holler if you see them pop "In Stock" ever!   :-*

No prob buddy.  Hopefully all of those here who want one can score one whenever the hell these pop up for sale.  I just want 1, I'm not greedy (only bought one CC exclusive too.)

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound greedy there, if that's what you were referring to Jason.  I just meant I'd grab a couple extras so the JD crew would hopefully be covered in case anyone missed out (since these will go FAST).  If everyone here manages to score one, I'll just pass along any extras to some other collectors at cost.

Guilty of grabbing some extra Comic Cons one too, but they were for jadesfire, jokabofe and BigDumbWookiee (and myself).   ;)

Didn't even realize that WM was selling the other ones.  Might have to pick up the Mace saber from them, which I'm still missing.  I'll probably wait to try to add it to (hopefully) the Obi-Wan saber order, to save a little on shipping.

So any word on the Obi Weathered Mini?  Does Walmart usually put up items before they actually have them in stock? Or  were they actually up for sale at one point?

It totally blows having to check several times a day, to be sold out in a matter of minutes when your not lucky enough to be online. >:(

I've been monitoring the Walmart link a pretty good amount Ricardo, and haven't seen it pop up.  Haven't seen anyone else mention buying it there yet either, so I'm pretty sure they haven't actually sold any yet.  Can't comment on their usual routine though, as far as when the product is available, relative to when it first hits their webite.  Guess we'll find out soon!

Walmart hasn't offered them up yet but the fact they finally made it on their site is encouraging. I will be picking up an extra to help out here or at RS prop forum.  I am glad Walmart picked these up and kept the price the same as the others it's just frustrating to wait!!! :-\   I know it will be a nut house when these puppies finally hit and I hope they limit them to two per order so that scalpers don't get most of them :(.

Walmart seems to have these in stock every now and again, so there is hope for those who missed out on them the first time.(at least for alittle while)

Jadesfire, I will have an extra.   So if you can't pick one up, I have you covered. :)

Thanks a million Beth!  I owe ya' one!  Ricardo, I shot you a PM too, bud.  Let's talk, and hopefully I can just zip on down your way when you get your sabers, and swipe Beth's former one off of ya'!   ;)

And no worries Beth, we all know you would've obviously stuck with your original deal with DSM, had I not harrassed you into finding another one!   ;D  Much appreciated though...

But I still have a little catching up to do though.  So, who all was going after the new Luke one, which was all silver and an eBay exclusive?  I think I'm passing on the "EU" versions, and just sticking with what was specifically on film.  Or at least the "new" and "used" versions of what was on film anyway...

I got Obi-wan's gold one so that I have three different 'colors' of his saber.  (Well, I will have all three when Philip is able to mail it out).  That's it though as I am trying to stay away from mini madness :P.  I would have sold Luke's gold one if I ever ended up with it from a dealer and am just waiting on receiving Dooku and Maul's mini to complette 2004 mini saber run.

I wasn't too impressed with the Gold and Silver sabers - they just don't do anything for me, so I was able to pass on the Luke without feeling like I was missing something. I'm glad too, since some of the Gold "chase" versions really go for some coin on ebay.

Kevin - the only ones that are limited are the exclusive/chase versions. You should be able to score a regular version of any of the six that have been made so far with relative ease, either at a local comic shop or on ebay. They retail for around $40 each.

I got an ESB fx Luke saber , there is a 3inch gap in the blade when lit
I notified them about it straight away and now no answer to my emails at all
It's been a good 2 months and they are no help
They asked for purchase date, receipt date and a copy of invoice, all have been sent and still no answer.

Ricardo, I dealt with their customer service once, and it went quite well!  I had to ship my Anakin FX saber back to them due to some problems with it.  They e-mailed me a shipping label (so I wouldn't have to pay postage), and had a brand new one to me within a week or so.  Totally painless.

Plus, they're just right down by us - somewhere near Torrance or Long Beach, so it's nice and quick (at least that's where they told me to ship it).  Here's their customer service info from their site:

...please feel free to call us at 1-866-REPLIKA or 734-258-1948 or email us at: customerservice@masterreplicas.com

Good luck!  Also, I'll be down in OC for Thanksgiving, and likely driving back up sometime on Saturday.  So maybe if the Obi-Wan sabers show up by then, and you're around, I could just swing by on my way back home...

Dealing with MR was pretty painless.  FedEx on the other hand...well plain $ucks.

Went to ship out and the guy behind the counter told me I can't ship ground with an Express box.  Ok, I thought I was slick and went to my car flipped the box over.  The guy gave me more attitude about "You think I don't know you flipped that box around, you know how many people come in", yadda yadda.  He must have been having problems with his bf on the phone. ::)

I'm really impressed with the amount of "damage" and use they put into this mini saber. It looks really nice, and actually used. It will be interesting to see if they all come with the same wear in the same spots. Mine sports a dent or two, some rubbed spots, and just a lot of grime.

Just noticed that there is an ebay seller (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=37891&item=2270934397&rd=1&ssPageName=WD1V) who is offering the Obi-Wan Weathered mini in a straight trade for the AFBB Comic Con version. If you have any extras of that one, or if you'd rather have the weathered version than the AFBB version, try contacting them.

Damn, I need to catch up on all the acronyms in here.  I'm lost...   :-[

Straight trade for the Comic Con version, eh?  That's surprising.  Aren't these new ones supposed to be pretty tough to get?  Are those Comic Con ones going for a lot, or something?  They weren't even selling out there, from what I recall...

Thanks for the pix there too Dave.  Indeed, it does look pretty damned cool.  Can't wait to nab mine off of Ricardo, hopefully on Saturday.

Ricardo, that eBay exclusive one is the all silver/chrome one, right?  Just all one color?  If so, I think I can pass on that one, along with the gold versions.  Running a little test on myself to see if I can refrain from being "complete" for once.  Wish me luck!   :P

This new weathered Obi-Wan is limited to 500 here in the U.S. but I believe that 2000 were made available through QVC over in the U.K. - that's where that seller is located. I don't recall how many were made of the SDCC version, but I think it was about the same total - 2500. So they are about the same rarity, except for the fact that all 2500 of the SDCC exclusive were sold here in the U.S. at the con, while the weathered version was split up between the U.S. and the U.K. with the U.S. getting the short end of the stick in the breakdown.

Yeah, I hear ya. I ordered an extra Sith case, but that's not really going to cut it for me. I have both of the Obi-Wan minis sitting on the top of the Jedi case now, but I really want to get another Jedi case, instead of putting them in the extra Sith case when I get it... unless I figure out a way to make something to go over the top of the nameplate... maybe a plate that says "2004 Exclusive Collection" or something like that. But even then, I've only got 2 exclusives, and I don't like any of the Gold and/or Chrome sabers that have come out. So my "exclusives" case will be one shy  :-\

OK, I ordered you one Hemish!  I'll shoot you a PM with the details...

Here are all the sabers (except the Ebay exclusive of Luke's ROTJ saber and variations of regular ones with gold plating) for 2004:

Nice pic (and collection) Beth!  I finally started seriously looking today into nabbing the rest that I need (sans gold/chrome/non-film sabers).  So is that the Comic Con Obi Saber at the bottom/middle?

Also, aren't there some more "gold" sabers available now?  Pretty sure I saw a gold Dooku one on eBay today, and maybe a few others...  "Chase" sabers, I guess...

And maybe you can answer this too, since I think you collect the regular sized MR sabers as well:  Will all of the sabers likely eventually come in a "as first built by" and "weathered/used" version, so we'll likely have two of all of them on down the line?

Well, that worked out well!  BIN'ed the last four that I needed on eBay a little while ago, for cheap too!  Got Mace for $27, and the three Sith sabers for $29 a piece (with combined shipping of all 4 for just $8).  Not bad!  So all I really need now are a couple of those stinkin' Jedi display cases.

Saw a few of those Weathered Obi-Wan sabers on eBay too, going for upwards of $70 a pop.  Yikes!  Noticed how much those Jedi cases were going for too...   :-\

Ok...I'll try to answer all your questions Matt.
So is that the Comic Con Obi Saber at the bottom/middle?

Yes, and the gold one was a MR exclusive for members and the top one was the Walmart exclusive.

Also, aren't there some more "gold" sabers available now?  Pretty sure I saw a gold Dooku one on eBay today, and maybe a few others...  "Chase" sabers, I guess...

Yes, there are gold chase figures for the original Jedi and Sith collection so I really should have stated I have the regular versions of each of those since I really don't have each one but one of each...or something like that. ???

And maybe you can answer this too, since I think you collect the regular sized MR sabers as well:  Will all of the sabers likely eventually come in a "as first built by" and "weathered/used" version, so we'll likely have two of all of them on down the line?

Master Replica is now using the term "Elite" to suck us in to buying more versions of the same saber.  Luke's ROTJ one is the first of them since his original prop was never "weathered" I think that will be the only other version we will see.  Rumors run rampant that Yoda will get a new one and many are really hoping to see Han's blaster re-done so I can't really give you a straight answer as MR is tight lipped about it but I wouldn't be surprised to see a "weathered" Anakin  (both regular and mini size) after the ROTS movie hits.

Nice score!!  Those Jedi cases are now starting to be a pain-in-the-ass for many collectors.  You could try nabbing a Sith one and recovering the bottom (people have talked about it over at RS but I haven't seen any pictures yet).

Sorry D, only nabbed the one for Hemish.  Wish I'd known you needed another.   :-\

On a happier note, I got my last four mini-sabers today, all in perfect shape!  So I'm all caught up (with the exception of the gold/ebay chase pieces, that I don't want).  Just need a couple Jedi cases (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=2625165) to put the rest into now...

Anxious to hear who's on tap next.  Sounds like an announcement is due from MR pretty soon on the next wave, based on some rumors I've seen around the net.  Can't wait!   8)

What have you heard Matt? ROTS sabers? I hope one of them is Sidious's!  Spill the beans :)
Title: Re: Master Replicas, mini sabers

Heck, c'mon Ricardo, dontchya think I'd have spilled the beans if I actually heard any specifics?!  Sheesh, I wouldn't hold out on you guys like that!   :P

Nah, like I said, I just heard that MR is likely going to be announcing the next wave pretty soon here, that's all.

So what's on your guy's wish lists for the next wave?  Or better yet, I guess I should just ask what's still left to be made...  I think my wish list, in order, is something along these lines:

ANH/ESB Luke saber (duh!) - this is the only one left from the OT, right?
Darth Maul's double bladed saber
Yoda's saber
Qui-Gonn's saber
Anakin's saber

Does Obi-Wan have a new saber in AOTC?  I can't seem to recall right now...  Technically, I think Mace supposedly had a different saber (that he never used) in TPM, but it's probably doubtful that we'll see it made.

I think that's it, right?  Other than the various other Jedi from AOTC, like Ki-Adi, Plo, etc...  But those haven't been made in the full scale yet, so I think they're probably pretty doubtful in the mini line, at least for now.  Maybe they'll see more screen time in ROTS, and come out for that flick instead.
Title: Re: Master Replicas, mini sabers
Post by: jokabofe on December 4, 2004, 02:00 PM
I'd like to see them make weathered versions of the other mini sabers that are already available. I know, it's kinda like the OTC re-cards, but I just like that Obi-Wan so damn much, because it looks so much better in the weathered condition. I'd like to maybe see some of the background Jedi from AOTC - Plo Koon, Ki-Adi Mundi, Kit Fisto... there's a plethora of Jedi from the arena that they could do. Maybe not major players, but all well known names. And don't forget General Grievous from Ep. 3 - he could probably fill a case by himself - The 2005 General Grievous Collection!! Outside of that, I'd pretty much go with your list there Matt, but I'm not sure I'm wiling to pay $40 or so for a 2" mini Yoda...

I doubt they will make the Yoda or the full Darth Maul because of the size issue. They seem to be making all of these in the same size so that they can fit in the cases that they make. Obviously making a minute size Yoda wouldn't really disrupt the case size issue, but making a full Darth Maul would.

What about if they started making ForceFX mini's for like $75 or so - would you buy them? I probably would. They would so bad ass lit up inside a glass case :)

Or what about some EU sabers?
Title: Re: Master Replicas, mini sabers
Post by: JediMAC on December 4, 2004, 04:17 PM
Force FX minis for $75?  Hell, I nearly got my full scale Anakin one for that price!  Nah, I'd pass.  They'd have to be about $50 tops for me to bite on those.

I could go for weathered versions of all of the sabers as well, I suppose, as much as it pains me to say it...  Granted, Obi-Wan's is really the only one truly deserving of it.

Not interested in getting into the EU at all myself.  I'm having a hard enough time stomaching the thought of going after 1 to 4 of Grievous's sabers.  Then there's also going to be the ROTS Sidious one too.

But what I'd like to see come about (instead of the EU idea), is for MR to expand their .45 scale replicas into the Blaster/Gun arena as well, similar to their full-scale props.  I've even heard rumblings that they're considering it, so that's promising.  I'd love to get all the same ones they've already release in full scale, like:

Stormtrooper blaster
Han blaster
Leia blaster
RFT gun
etc...

Would you guys be down for some of those?
Title: Re: Master Replicas, mini sabers
Post by: Holographic Elvis on December 5, 2004, 08:52 PM
Not sure I like the idea of weathered sabers for all the characters.  Obi1's weathered shows how a once beautiful saber has aged over time from his dramatic duel with Anakin in Ep.III to his appearance as an old man in Ep. IV.  There's a reason why they have it that way.  If you did weathered versions of everyone else, it would just be scratches and dents more than likely and definitely not something I'd buy.

Maybe we'll still get:

Ep. II Anakin
Ep. II Yoda
Ep. V Luke
Ep. V Vader
Ep. III Sidious/Palpatine
Ep. III Anakin
Ep. I Qui-Gon
Ep. I Obi1
other Jedi characters
Title: Re: Master Replicas, mini sabers
Post by: JediMAC on December 7, 2004, 06:05 AM
Yeah, I kinda agree, Jas.  The only one that seems like it'd be all that weathered would be Obi-Wans.  Maybe Vaders too, since it would appear to have been around nearly as long, though it never seemed to be too "battle worn".

Anyway, got my Sith display case today finally.  Like the sabers themselves, this was much smaller than I was expecting for some reason.  That's a good thing though.  I'm really liking how little space this great little collection is going to take up.  Always good to have some room to grow...   8)

Just need a couple Jedi cases now...   :'(

Hey everyone.

Dont want to brag or anything, but Santa put something extra pretty
into my Christmas stocking early.   I was out last night, and found
a golden Dooku sitting pretty right there on the shelf at my local Suncoast.
Im gonna keep it in the dark until Christmas eve, and put it into Dad's (my)
stocking.  My son (who's getting a Vader mini in his) will be excited also.

This makes my 3rd goldie.  I got the golden Obi AFB via PSWCS bud Jack, and
the golden Cloney-Wan via another PSWCS bud, Tronz.   Yesterday's score
was my first lucky break with the minis.  Frankly, Id been to store after store,
asking if ANYONE had ever seen a golden mini actually get PUT onto a shelf.
A coupla guys had confessed that they had, but employees scooped them up;
and they never actually hit a shelf for a lowly collector to buy (for the std $35
price).   So this post serves to restore everyone's hope, that sometimes these
*do* slip through, and can be found.   Too bad the odds are maybe 3720:1. :-\

Happy hunting.

Wow, that's a pretty sweet score there!  Congrats!  Always great to strike "collecting gold" outta the blue like that (figuratively, and in this case literally).  Those unexpected collecting moments of pure joy are what make it all worth it, especially all the hunting.

I'm not collecting the gold sabers myself, but I suppose if I randomly stumbled across one somewhere, I wouldn't be able to resist.  Or, I'd just pick it up and trade it to someone here who really needs it.

So how many gold sabers are out there now?  All 6?  Or just the 3 you mentioned?  Don't recall off the top of my head anymore...

Luke ROTJ
Obi AOTC
Mace AOTC
Vader ANH
Dooku AOTC
Maul TPM
Obi ANH - pristine version exclusive from MR Collectors Society

What makes the situation *TOTALLY* ironic, is that the suncoast (here in
Pittsburgh) where I found it, is maybe 50 yards away from where the
Pittsburgh Comic and Collectible Toy Show was going on Saturday and Sunday.

(See JesseJames' coverstory).

The gal at suncoast said those had been on the shelf since late Saturday, and the
show went on ALL of saturday and sunday.  I almost CANNOT believe no one
from the show wandered from the expomart over to the mall next-door.
(there was a guy at the show selling *all* the normal minis for $30 ea. so that
might be why everyone felt satisfied)

In fact, as I was at lunch with JesseJames (+++) on Saturday, I told him that I had
just checked this store right before I went over, (1pm), and nothing new was
out yet.

-BH

(+++) JJ made at least THREE (3) totally-shameless plugs for JediDefender
as he was downing his 'brewhaus-sampler' over lunch. ;D

[EDIT - added]
p.s. , anyone still needing SITH display cases might find some over at...
http://starwars.fanhq.com  -- while supplies last... ;)

You go, Jess!   8)

Just lighten up on those 'brewhaus-samplers' though, as we generally don't encourage drinking here at JD...   :P

I just stumbled upon a site *supposedly* with the Jedi display cases, and ordered a couple of them.  Sounds like some other folks have done the same thing but had their orders canceled by them though (with "Out of Stock" notices), so I'm not gonna hold my breath.  But nabbing two Jedi cases for less than $40 shipped will definitely make me a happy man if it actually comes to fruition.

If anyone wants info on where, just PM me.

Looks like Adam just dug up MR's new release news for 2005, and here's the next 6 mini sabers we've got to look forward to:

Anakin Skywalker Ep III--Q2
Obi-Wan Kenobi Ep. III--Q2
Yoda Ep. III--Q2/Q3
Darth Sidious Ep. III--Q3
Count Dooku Ep.III--Q3
Darth Vader Ep. III--Q4

Must admit, I'm a little disappointed to see that they're all ROTS related.  Could've gone for a Qui-Gonn, or ANH Luke versions...   :-\

Hopefully the make some more of those damned display cases while they're at it!   ::)

Yeah, I caught that news blurb earlier - I was just wondering if that really means that mini will truly be exclusive to SWS.com, or if they'll just be selling it starting that day...   ???

I'd be surprised if it really was their exclusive, but I guess I ain't stupid enough to test that theory, and will be ordering one pronto when they come available...

Looks like another Jedi and Sith collection will be coming, presumably in 2 separate waves again.  I wonder if they'll be going with the generic stands that have been rumored, or if they'll say "Jedi Collection 2005" on them, similar to last time...

I wasn't even paying much attention to this announcement really.  Is this saber exclusive to SWS.com?  Or are they just gonna be the first ones to release it?
Title: Re: Master Replicas, mini sabers
Post by: jadesfire on January 31, 2005, 08:32 PM
I am pretty sure that the sabers will be available through Master Replica but sws.com is just being allowed to let people order them a little early.  Nothing that I have read from people that seem to have an "in" with MR have stated that these are exclusives.  Honestly, I think MR would have sent out an email to it's members if they were exclusives, we are the bread and butter of their company (Star Wars collectors) and I am sure they want to make as many sabers as possible  ;).
Title: Re: Master Replicas, mini sabers
Post by: JediMAC on February 1, 2005, 03:26 AM
Thanks Beth.

I'm a little concerned here.   If I order the Ani or Obi-Wan sabers at SWS.com, does that mean I'm not gonna be able to nab another potential set of 3 with a display stand from MR later on, since they may have a couple of the same sabers?

Not sure I want to order these if that's the case...

And Jason, what about the new Obi saber...  Did you want that too, or just the Anakin one?   ???

I'd hold off Matt.  I am sure these will be available at MR tomorrow for regular members and Thursday for sure.
It's not like they will sell out at sws.com since there is no end production number but if you do order, you can always cancel later on (since they are not in-stock).

Hold off Matt.  I want to order these as a set so I can get the display case.  I love how the Ep.III Obi1 has gold on it.  I was worried we were going to get the AFBB edition again.  Makes me SO tempted to break down and buy the full scale one.

Phew!  'Cause I wound up in those meetings a lot longer than I expected (had to drive back from the second one this evening), and then when I had the chance tonight I started wondering if I really should, or if you might have the same idea as me and want to hold off for the sets with display stands, Jay.  Was even about to call you a little while ago to find out if you still really wanted to roll with it...

But yeah, if you look at the MR release list for these, you can see it looks like there's the set of 3 Jedi and 3 Sith again, so it's likely the'll do the same thing as last time with the sets.  Plus, neither of these (with the Obi too) look like they're gonna be exclusive, or anything like that.

The Obi does look cool.  Nice to see a slight difference on there.

Tomorrow, if you are a member of the collector's society at Master Replica, you can order the Anakin and Obi-wan saber only.  They do mention the rest of the bunch as being released throught the year but absolutely NO mention of a display case.  I'm going to sit back and wait on these and see if a case is made down the line with a discount for buying the Jedi or Sith collection then.  It will really suck if they don't make the three tier case as that is really the best way to display them.

Nice.

But the question is, are there any differences with the Vader and Dooku sabers, or are we already into total rehash land here?  Not real interested in another Sith Collection, if we technically really only need one of them...

I also just took a gander at eBay to see where they Jedi display cases are at nowadays, since it's been a while since I last checked.  I see that one just sold for $124.  Holy ****.

Plus, even the Sith display cases are up in the $50 - $70 range now!  That's absolutely insane.  All these folks with lightsabers, and nothing proper to display them in.  Nice work MR.

I was also informed at Toy Fair by one of the MR reps that they have an SDCC and a C3 exclusive mini saber on tap for later this year. I couldn't get any other info, as far as what it would be (a new unique saber or a weathered/as first built by version) but it was confirmed that there would be not 1 but 2 exclusives.

So Matt, you know you need to put me on the list for the SDCC one, right?
Title: Re: Master Replicas, mini sabers
Post by: JediMAC on February 22, 2005, 12:28 PM
Gotchya Dave.  Maybe.  Considering you didn't/couldn't hook me up with the Toy Fair Press Kit, I'll have to think about it...    >:(

Yeah, I'd just recently remembered that they were going to have a C3 exclusive mini-saber, which blows.  One more exclusive line to stand in for a couple hours.  Ouch.

Is the SDCC exclusive going to be different than the C3 one?  If so, ugh.  But that line wasn't too bad at all at SDCC last year, so that one's not a major concern, I guess.

A Master Replica rep was recently asked if a mini saber for Qui-Gonn was coming soon, and she replied yes - in 2006.  But it's a little sketchy as to whether she meant a full scale one, or the mini one.  Though it's likely going to be both, I'd imagine.  Long overdue, for sure...

I see Philip answered your questions over at RS, Matt but I still think they should do the three pack with case as an option.  I guess we have to wait for Amy to come back to be sure.

Oh, and put me down for the C3 SDCC exclusive also, Mr. Colman :-*.

I see Philip answered your questions over at RS, Matt but I still think they should do the three pack with case as an option.  I guess we have to wait for Amy to come back to be sure.

BTW, Philip didn't seem to like me questioning his answers on some of those MR questions there.  Apparently he feels his word should be considered just as good as hearing it directly from MR...   :-X

Personally, I'd still like to hear it directly from Amy though.  Of course, MR has been known to change their minds on things...  From time to time...   ;)

Oops, typo on that one.  Yes, I am going to C3 and will be standing in line like everyone else...or Jay might be.  We might split up our line duties since we have friends coming and I think he enjoys himself more on his own sometimes (as in, he can poke fun of people without me glaring at him).  Honestly, if they limit this to two per person, I can probably snag three extra to help out others that want this but don't really feel like standing in line.  Once C3 gets closer, I assume we'll get a master list organized since not everyone at JD can go and hammer out details like this.

Can I hang out with hubby?  I like poking fun at people (you might have noticed this from time to time) and I'm less likely to get the snot beat out of me if there's two of us :P

If you've seen the size of my hubby, you wouldn't get the snot beat out of you at all...which is precisely why he comes in really handy at events like this.  If I want to be on the other side of the hall and it doesn't seem like I am making any headway, I just tell him to lead and viola...instant clear path.  And you should see how well he  can reach around other people.  He was perfect in 1999 at the midnight madness toy run. He was crabby and he was in a hurry.  I got the dolls I wanted within a few minutes and he was able to secure items that seem to be so high up, you'd get a nose bleed just thinking about it.  Yup, if sarcasm is your style, he's the person you want to be in line with. ;)

I was also informed at Toy Fair by one of the MR reps that they have an SDCC and a C3 exclusive mini saber on tap for later this year.

From forum member Gundam aka Rod at the Jawa:

"CELEBRATION 3 EXCLUSIVE

That's it?? Only 3,000??? Great, those will be gone the first day.  I guess I know what line I'll be in as soon as the doors open.   And there are several "summer" conventions so it will be really interesting to see how they divide up that amount over the summer.  Finally, there isn't ONE Best Buy in the entire Upper Peninsula of Michigan (not to mention other countries) so how the hell am I gonna get that one??  Nice...real nice.   :-X

Really?  That's it?  Hmmm...  I think I'm rather happy with that announcement, 'cause I'm pretty sure that means I'm not going to have to get them.  I'm only getting regular releases (and weathered versions), and am not screwing around trying to be a completist with all the gold, and now "smoked chrome" versions.  So I think you can count me out on chasing those.  So if any of you "clowns" tries to peer pressure me into one of them (and hence all), I'm gonna be pissed.

Not goin' there.   :-*

I guess I'll throw my hat in here Jeff, even though I'm not sure yet I'm going to delve into these much.  I've got the Vader regular saber hilt and want to pick up the FX version as well.  The Sidious one could be pretty awesome though, so for now I'll be in.  I'll just send the money with the clone army builder money :-*  Unless they come out sooner.

They are just generic trio stands.  Good enough for my weathered and exclusive Obi-Wan sabers.

Interesting.  Are those just cheap knockoffs based on the MR cases?  Looks like it.  $24's not too bad for that, though I'm probably going to prefer the "official generic case" that's coming from MR soon.  Here's the eBay one (still 12 left):

Check out that same seller's other display case.  $60 for this 9 saber wall frame.  Not bad lookin'...

Galactic Hunter is reporting that MR will have an exclusive at C3 that may be worth picking up, since it's limited to 3000 pieces: a dark chrome Ep.III Obi1 saber.  I'm not big on the gold or chrome saber hilts, but I'll probably grab this one.

Where you been, Jason?  They announced that thing over a month ago.  Pay attention!   :P

(or just scroll up several posts)

I'm passing on that one, 'cause I'm not biting on all the gold, silver, brushed chrome bull**** with this line.  I'm already in with these bogus type of rehashes with the Gentle Giant busts and Bust-Ups, along with all the Hasbro crap of course.  But I'm refraining from "non-movie" type of mini sabers, except if they're the "weathered" or "AFBB" versions, which I'm cool with...

So that's one line I think I won't have to bother with (unless someone else needs one, in which case I might do it if the line isn't too bad).

I'd like to find the regular ROTS mini sabers at Best Buy - save some $$ on shipping.

What other brick and mortar outlets carry these?

Title: Re: Master Replicas, mini sabers
Post by: JediMAC on April 5, 2005, 05:52 PM
I think Best Buy's only carrying the exclusive one, and not any others.  As far as I know, there's really no "retail" type of stores that carry these, but WM.com does, which obviously doesn't help you with the shipping issue though.  I think they're usually just found online, or in specialty/novelty/comic/collectible type of shops for the most part.  I think places like Suncoast were carrying them too.  Maybe Jason or some other folks could chime in with some other suggestions though...

Do you have the first couple series of these as well, Travis - or are you just getting started on them?
Title: Re: Master Replicas, mini sabers
Post by: jadesfire on April 5, 2005, 06:13 PM
According to someone who works at Best Buy, they are suppose to be handling the three new mini sabers, their exclusive Sidious saber and the f/x sabers.  I know that Media Play and some other chains carry the mini's off and on.  I also know that Wal-mart and Target had them at one time (on-line).  Meijers brick-n-mortar stores also carried the f/x last year.

So, if you have those electronic/dvd/music stores in your local mall, it's worth a shot to see if they carry them.

PS:  While I am on the subject, I have no Best Buy in the U.P. of Michigan so if anyone stumbles across one, please let me know!!

Chatted-up the local BEST-BUY manager.  I got him to look up in his computer
the SKU and UPC..  So here goes...(drum roll please...)

Item: 7015945
UPC:  836453001994
$34.99

None of the stores in my area are listed to ever receive any of these.  *BUT* when
my guy read this.. he really got irate (cuz he says *he* wants one for himself).
He said he'd try and do something about that.

BTW, he *was* able to do a bunch of lookups in other stores, and he found that
a ton of BestBuys out in CA are slated to receive them (although only a few had
actually gotten them in as of yesterday).

Only time will tell if these pup ever make it east of the Mississippi.

Best Buy is "suppose" to get the follow:

Exclusvie Darth Sidious mini "smoked" saber
Ep. III - Obi-Wan Kenobi - mini
Ep. III - Anakin Skywalker - mini
Ep. III - Darth Sidious mini

and a few of the new f/x sabers.

The three mini sabers listed are available online at Master Replica and a host of other dealers.  It's the exclusive one that everyone is clamering (sp?) for.

I guess I'll have to see what hit's in CA.  I'd like the "smoked" Sidious saber so if you find one, let me know :).

Thanks jade.  I'm holding off on all the reg. minis cause I want to get the trio set w/ display.  I did that for the 1st Jedi and Sith sets as well.  I'll grab myself a "smoked" Sidious if it's gonna be a tough find, which it probably will be.  If I see 2 I'll grab ya one.
Title: Re: Master Replicas, mini sabers

I think Philip and the MR rep said a while back over at RS that these weren't going to be offered in a trio set this time 'round, so we might as well start grabbing them individually.  I had asked the MR rep that exact same question Jason (worth waiting for a trio set?), and I'm pretty sure that was her response, IIRC.

That sound about right, Beth?

That sound about right, Beth?

That's right, Matt.  MR has stated that again just recently over in the prop thread at RS.  They will have a case for the mini's but it won't be free when you buy the set of three this time.
Title: Re: Master Replicas, mini sabers
Post by: JediMAC on April 6, 2005, 07:10 PM
Yeah, that's what I thought I remembered.  But the question still stands: Will they actually be selling them as a set of three - even if it's without the case?  I guess it doesn't much matter really, but I was just curious.  You'd still save on shipping a little if you bought all three at once, I suppose...
Title: Re: Master Replicas, mini sabers
Post by: Holographic Elvis on April 6, 2005, 07:34 PM
SOB!  Why would they not sell them like that?  Did they see how popular the cases were and want to get more money out of people or what?  That's lame.  Well, I'll just grab whatever minis I find then.  Considering the Dooku and Vader look like rehashes, maybe it's gonna be easier this way.  Has anyone heard if the Vader and Dooku are different in anyway?

Thanks!

I have the Jedi set and Sith set from last year.  I'm really not interested in the "smoked" / "silver" / "gold" versions as I try to keep as close to the movie as I can, plus I only want to display three cases - sith, jedi, ROTS.

Problem is there is a fourth one, Yoda's, that I don't have room for....

JuvyD and jadesfire: One of my local Best Buys had the "smoked" Sidious saber today so PM me and we'll work out the details as I grabbed 1 for each of you.  Hopefully you're going to open and display them as the front of the box is a tad beat up (looks like the corners of other saber boxes made indents in the front.)  I'm gonna try to get more for you other guys and hopefully Matt will start checking around.   :P

I made the drive after sitting on hold for too long (Best Buy has the worst phone system) and someone looked up the SKU you guys gave here.  They were sitting in the Media (DVD/CD/video game) section on one of the info tables.  They are in the computer under "toys" so they may be in different spots in different stores.

I probably won't have time to stop by a Best Buy 'til tomorrow, but I'll check in then.  They're a little off the beaten path for me, and I haven't been able to sneak out of the office for more than a few minutes all week, and by the time I've gotten home each night, BB's already closed.

But I'll see if I can nab one for BH there.  Anyone else in need?

Travis, the only case that's gonna be coming out now from MR is just a generic "blank" case 3-tiered case.  Nothing with "ROTS", or any other labels on it from now on, according to them (unfortunately).

I'm just sticking to the movie related sabers myself, but I'm getting a little nervous about my will power with the C3 exclusive one.  :-\

You know, I wouldn't be all too surprised if that Sidious scaled saber on BB.com was just the regular release, NOT the smoked one.

There is no mention in th description that it is the exclusive version and one would think by now that it would be sold out because of it's limited 2500 pc run...

But I finally nabbed a couple of the Best Buy Sidious sabers tonight (so Jason wouldn't rag my **** anymore  ;)).  Had to swipe them from under one of the computer counters when nobody was looking, since the reps told me they were already sold out.  But I saw a couple that it looks like they were probably holding for some people, and swiped 'em!  8)  So, after all that hassle, anyone else still need one?  :P

So I wonder if the stores security surveillance cameras were rolling.   ;D

Well, I did actually pay for them, despite swiping them inside the actual store...  :P

Well I opened up my BB Sidious and I gotta say I'm with Matt.  I just don't dig the gold, chrome or "smoked" chrome sabers.  I'm gonna unload this one so if anyone still needs one PM me.  Cost plus shipping or I'll trade for an Ep.III Anakin, Obi-Wan or Sidious regular mini (assuming anyone has even found 1 yet.)

The .45 scale Weathered Obi Saber is in stock at WM.com.

Id like one too, if there are any noble JediDefenders who can nab me one
in CA.  I forgot to say in my post a page back that I am in PA.  There are NONE
slated for any stores in PA, OH, or WV.  :(

BH, you still need one?  No takers on mine yet, so LMK!  Like Jason said, I'm trying to avoid these non-canon versions of the sabers, so please don't make me crack one of these bad boys open now...  ;)

This is going to sound a little strange, but a friend of mine went to Best Buy yesterday and told me that they had all 4 sabers. Ok, that's not strange, but he said that an employee there also told him that they had some exclusive diecast figures of some sort, that they were sold out of at the time. Anybody know anything about those, or is he just an idiot?

Hadn't heard about figs.  So all 4 meaning 4 Sidious or Sidious exclusive, Sidious reg, Anakin and Obi-Wan?  If so, I need to start hunting.

Yeah, that was the word we had heard a page or two ago, that BB would possibly be getting all 4 of the sabers in.  Good to hear further confirmation on that.  Might finally use my Christmas present Best Buy gift cards on 'em if they do.

As for the diecast figures, never heard of 'em.  So I'm going to go with "he's an idiot" for my answer.  :P

Or maybe not.  Who knows...?

Anyone have any tips on the best way to play catch-up?  Any online stores still have the older ones available?  I guess I'd like to get the display cases too...

Lemme know if anyone has any ideas...thanks!

eBay is probably a good bet.  They seem pretty cheap on there.  Someone said the .45 Mace was up on WalMart.com, as was their exclusive weathered Obi-Wan.

What happened, Steve?  You uncontrollably nab the Best Buy one, and now you're screwed?!  ;)

They're definitely nice little pieces, and a great substitute for the larger, more expensive ones that many of us can't reasonably afford at this point.  As for starters...

I got a very helpful assist from BigDumbWookiee on a couple, which got me into the line to begin with.  But when I went hunting for the other 4 main regular sabers, I found MANY of them on eBay, for very good deals.  Haven't searched for them in quite a while, but I'm sure there's still some good prices to be had on them.  There were 6 regular sabers:  A Luke, Mace, and Obi-Wan in the original Jedi set, and then Vader, Dooku, and Maul in the Sith Collection shortly afterwards.  BUT, the display cases for both of those sets will run you a serious arm and a leg now.  The Jedi case (for 3 sabers) went up into the 3 digit range real quick, and last I saw, the Sith one was headed in the same direction.  But MR is supposedly putting out some generic 3-tiered cases soon, just like the ones we got before, but without the Jedi/Sith Collection 2004 on it.  So those are definitely a viable alternative if you don't "need" the original ones.

Then there's the exclusives...  The weathered Obi-Wan saber, which I think I just heard is back on Walmart.com right now.  There was the Comic Con Obi-Wan saber last year too.  Then you get into the other non-canon ones, like the Chrome Luke eBay exclusive (I think), and then Gold versions of pretty much all the above, which run a good bit more than the regular $35 ones...

Anyway, I'm just going with the more screen used versions, which puts me at the two sets of 3 (Jedi/Sith) and the Comic Con and WM.com Obi sabers.  So scope out eBay's completed auctions first, to get an idea of the present market value on 'em right now, and then take it from there.  Not sure if SaberVault.com has any left, but I know folks have recommended them a lot in the past as well.

Good luck!  You'll enjoy them when you get more, I'm sure...   8)

Sort of, in a roundabout way.  I first took notice of them with this Best Buy exclusive...and then I started checking them out and was totally blown away by the look of the regular Sidious saber.  Man, that thing grabs me for some reason.  And then I saw they had a mini of the regular Sidious coming out too...and then I started checking out the other minis...and then I started looking around my apartment trying to figure out what I could sell so I could afford these...

Looks like I can get them at pretty decent prices on ebay.  Only thing -- are they definitely releasing generic cases for them?  I can score a Sith set with case, but can't find a Jedi set with case.  I figure I'll just get all the sabers without cases if I know I can score a set of generic cases later on...

Title: Re: Master Replicas, mini sabers

Only thing -- are they definitely releasing generic cases for them?

That's what the Master Replicas customer service rep and Philip Wise over at RS both said, several times.  Obviously I can't personally guarantee that what they said is true, but I see no reason to doubt them at all.  I'm sure the generic cases will be showing up pretty soon though...

But if you can grab a cheap Sith case, and not "need" the matching Jedi case, then go for it.  That's probably the cheapest way to get that case, since most folks already have the sabers and are just trying to get a case for them now.  Same would likely hold true, to an extent, for the Jedi case with a set of 3 sabers, though that one's become so rare, I'd suspect it'd still be running quite a bit higher.

Good luck playing catchup though, Steve.  We'll give you a shout in here if we see any good deals...  ;)

Went to the Best Buy in Chino Hills where I found the mini Sidious exclusive and asked the same girl about the other 3.  She checked with someone and he said that they didn't have them and weren't getting anymore.  I honestly think they were talking about the exclusive though because she said they only got 5 and weren't getting anymore.  When I found the Sidious, there were 5 total.  They said an employee bought the F/X saber already.  I'm hoping they will still get in the regs of Anakin, Obi-Wan and Sidious.

If anyone finds one of those regs and wants to trade for my exclusive Sidious, drop me a PM.

Anyhoo, he's folks it's true: we'll be getting a Fertility Idol, Staff of Ra Headpiece and the best item of all: the Grail Diary!

This is awesome news!!  I would love to get the Staff of Ra Headpiece!! ;D

I ordered the Yoda mini on www.target.com and it's the normal price for these things.  I haven't seen this .45 offered anywhere else, so I figured I'd better jump on it.

I have discussed this in a few threads, but can't get much of a response.  Has anyone noticed how Vader's saber in ROTS looks much more like the one in Empire than the one in ANH (I mean specifically the grip).  That is just annoying from a chronlogical standpoint.

Man, that Sidious saber does look small, holy crap!  I think the one-handed theory that Hemish proposed must be correct.  Guess we'll find out tonight.  ;)

I still haven't picked up any of the ROTS sabers yet.  Just been too lazy.  Passed on the Best Buy and C3 exclusives, but very much plan to catch up on the regular mini releases soon.

I also brainfarted on signing up for the MR Collector's Collector's Society at C3, but plan to do that soon so I can nab that complete Maul mini saber.  I'm curious if there's going to be a clear display case for that thing, so it can at least be displayed with the others.  I don't want the thing sitting in a felt box for all eternity...  Anybody know?

I just got sucked into the whole .45 scale lightsaber collecting and I am wanting know if anyone has a ultimate list of all the .45 sabers offered.

I got started on this because I work for Best Buy and I thought that I would pick the sabers up and go from there. Then I lucked out and when I got home I was surprised to see that the Sidious saber was the gold one. That has only fueled my desire to put the set together.

From what I've gleamed from MR, it sounds like it will be very simillar to all of their other .45 offerings.  I am certainly looking forward to this.  It will have to be twice the size of the Obi-Wan weathered saber pictured above (great scale photo runier!)

Personally, I am really debating if I want the Dooku .45 from ROTS.  Besides the gold, and a different marking on the grip, it is pretty simillar to the AOTC saber.  I don't want to fall into the trap that Hasbro has put me in so many times.  Jus look at the R2-D2 from Mustafar for evidence of this.  Hardly any difference!
Title: Re: Master Replicas: Mini-sabers
Post by: JediMAC on June 3, 2005, 08:21 PM
Yeah, it's bad enough that MR is already rehashing most of their mini-sabers into smoked chrome, gold, or silver versions.  I'm staying away from those at least.  But I'm still undecided on ones like the ROTS Vader and Dooku myself.  I'm sure I'll go for them eventually too though, since I'm a sucker like that.  I take it the Sith ones aren't available for order yet, right?  I've only heard of the Obi/Ani/Yoda versions so far, none of which have actually shipped yet, have they?

Any word on a mini Grievous collection yet?
Title: Re: Master Replicas: Mini-sabers
Post by: Jedidz23 on June 4, 2005, 11:34 AM
I try to stay away from all of the variants on the same saber as well.  I guess I did get he CIII Kenobi and Sidious Best buy exclusive, but those don't count.   :-[  The CIII was just cool, and the Sidious was the first .45 I purchased.  I didn't know anything about MR, but saw the saber at Best Buy, and thought, "Why not?  I'm sure this will be the only one I buy."  Famous last words!   :D

I don't think the .45 Sidious or Yoda have shipped yet, but I know the initial wave of Obi-Wan and Anakin sabers have already been sent out.  I received mine a few weeks ago (the Anakin saber is particularly impressive!).

As far as Grievous, the word is that as of right now, since he wields generic sabers, they may not do anything at MR for him.  However, money talks, and there is certainly a market for him, so I'm guessing something will come out eventually.   :)

Hi there,

I'm a new member on the board and I wanted to say hello to everyone.  I have enjoyed reading the thread.

Just a couple of things, I signed up today for the CS membership and got an update on the shipping date for the exclusive Maul.  The lady on the phone mentioned it would be shipping next month, not this month, as originally planned.

Also, someone had asked for a checklist of the minis.  I think at this point I have all of the ones that have been released to this point.  If I'm missing any could someone please let me know.  But for those who are interested, here it is:

Mace Windu AOTC/ AOTC (gold)
Obi Wan ATOC/ATOC (gold)
Obi Wan ROTS/ROTS (gold)
Obi Wan C III/C III (gold)
Obi Wan ANH (weathered)
Obi Wan AFBB
Obi Wan Collectors Society Exclusive (gold)
Luke Skywalker ROTJ/ROTJ (gold)
Luke Skywalker ROTJ (ebay exclusive)
Darth Maul TPM (battle damaged)/TPM (gold)
Darth Vader ANH/ANH (gold)
Count Dooku AOTC/ATOC (gold)
Anakin Skywalker ROTS/ROTC (gold)
Darth Sidious (Best Buy exclusive)/BB (gold)

I have placed the Darth Sidious, Dooku (E III), Vader (E III), and Yoda mini on order.  Hope this helps!

Hi there,

I'm a new member on the board and I wanted to say hello to everyone.

Welcome to JD, Brian!  Glad to have you stop on in and chat with us here.  Holler if you've got any questions about the place.  ;)

I still haven't gotten off my lazy butt and ordered the Ep. 3 sabers yet, but need to do that soon.  So it's just the Anakin and Obi-Wan that have shipped so far, with Yoda next on the way?

And thanks for the reminder on calling MR for the CS membership too.  I've been brainfarting on that, ever since I forgot to hand them my completed form at C3.  ::)

Hopefully they'll have some announcements on new stuff at Comic Con next month.  They'll be out of saber hilts pretty soon here, so I'm sure the .45 scale Blasters/Guns line isn't too far off now.  8)

Jason, I'd dig seeing other sabers for the less prominent Jedi on the Council as well, but they haven't done that in the full scale line, so I'm not real hopeful of seeing those converted into the .45 scale.  But it'd certainly be cool with me if they did...

Yes, the Vader III is available on pre-order from Target with a scheduled ship date of 8/15.  They do not specifically announce that it is the E III, however, I believe that a quick glance at the picture of the item definately shows it is not E IV!  Ironically, it is not yet available on MR's site.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

I assume you guys have all heard about this news already, that Beth posted over in the Comic Con thread (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=6128.msg130949#msg130949) a few days ago:

FYI:

At the San Diego convention this year, the MR mini will be the Black Smoked Chrome Yoda ROTS .45 Lightsaber (like Obi-Wan's for CIII).

I am assuming the same price point of $35.00 like at C3.  I am also assuming you'll be able to buy other props there but, hopefully, the line for this one won't be too bad.

I'll pass.  Anyone else in need of it though?  I may be able to help...

Matt - I'm hoping for a Qui-Gon and anything beyond that is just gravy.
Title: Re: Master Replicas: Mini-sabers
Post by: JediMAC on June 8, 2005, 08:50 PM
Oh yeah, I think we're all hoping for (expecting) a Qui-Gon soon, so I wasn't even mentioning that one.  It's too popular a saber for MR to pass over, so I'm sure it's on the way.  Didn't Amy already confirm it though?  I thought so, but IIRC there was some confusion as to whether she was confirming it in the full scale, or the .45 scale...

I'm sure MR will eventually get all the main screen used sabers out, and then we can delve into the blaster line.  8)

I spoke with someone at MR and they stated that since Grievous takes his lightsabers from the Jedi he kills, they probably won't be making any Grievous lightsabers.  In fact, if you look at some of the lightsabers he uses in the duel with Obi-Wan, one looks just like Obi-Wan's, and one of the green ones is almost identical to Anakin's lightsaber.

I read somewhere that Luke's ROTJ saber and Mace's saber are used by Grievous at some point as well...  I think it's one of those silly Easter Egg things ILM did.

Picked up Anakins's ROTS mini saber at Best Buy, very nice and shiny. :)  I was a little worried about picking up this saber, as I heard some people having issues with the big copper button rubbing against the plastic.

I actually had to return the first one I bought.   It had slight rub damage on the button, but lucked out on the second, no rub.

They also had ROTS Obi's but they were all opened, I guess someone was looking for the gold saber.

I ordered this saber, but the article mentions an Obi-Wan dark chrome saber from ANH.  I'm thinking this is a misprint, and they are actually referring to the Obi-Wan saber from CIII.  Does anyone know about this?

These gold/chrome/silver sabers kind of annoy me.

They aren't film accurate and seem kind of gimmicky..maybe I'm just jealous because the gold ones go for quite a bit on ebay!   ;D

I'm behind this year because I don't know if I want to continue on with the minis - I have last year's, but yet only one trio case.

Does anyone know when MR plans on releasing the new "generic" trio cases they promised us??

I got home from alert today and the Gold .45 Obi-Wan saber was waiting for me!   ;D

One small suprise is that it's styled after Ben's ANH saber, I thought it would be styled after the ROTS saber for some reason.

Matt,

I think you are speaking of the CS Exclusive Obi mini.  If the ROTS gold obi is what you are after, it is availalble I blieve on secondary markets places like ebay.  Owning both, I must admit I think the ROTS Obi mini looks better than the ANH gold Obi but that is just my humble opinion!

The 2004 SDCC convention-exclusive was the non-weathered version of his ANH
saber.  Now that the 2005 con sabers are the latest 'hot' item, you can get the
2004 obi for about $45 +S&H on ebay.   I dont know if they mixed goldies
in at the 2004 convention.

I have an extra 2004 'clean' obi to trade, btw.  ;)

The C3 exclusive wasn't a gold saber....it was the Dark Chrome ROTS Obi-Wan saber.

My Maul hasn't shipped yet, but that's probably because I only got around to ordering it when I was down at SDCC last month, and not at C3 like I should have.  Dumbass.  ::)

So I'm seriously lagging on the ROTS mini sabers.  Haven't picked up a single one yet.  Can someone catch me up to speed on which ones have been released now?  Is it all 6?  And if you know of any good bargains around the net for them, please divulge...  :-*

$10 each on shipping?!  That's completely outrageous...  Maybe I'll wait for some to hit eBay instead.  I dunno.  I may regret it if I wait.

Got my shipping confirmation from MR today on my Maul saber, so it should be here real soon.  That'll mean it's catch-up time on the rest of the ROTS sabers (which you folks still haven't listed out for me yet!).

So how are people going to display the Maul saber?  There's no case that's big enough for it, right?  Hmm...

Also, for the Vader and Dooku sabers, IIRC, there were some real slight changes made to those sabers, from their previous mini versions, correct?  I'm not buying another identical one to last time...

Matt,

ROTS Vader saber is different and they state that Dooku's is also but I didn't buy it since I have the first one so I can't comment on exactly "what" was changed and how significant it is.

Title: Re: Master Replicas: Mini-sabers
Post by: Holographic Elvis on August 14, 2005, 06:37 PM
ROTS Vader is definitely different, but I see no difference on Dooku that makes it worth purchasing.

I'm sitting here debating how many of the new mini trio displays to buy.  I bought a generic one off ebay a few months ago that now houses all my Obi-Wan sabers, so I may be able to get away with just getting 1 display case.  Plus it would be $20 for shipping for 2 so that may make my decision for me.

The only real difference between the Dooku ROTS and the AOTC is the color of
the lower 'elbow'.  (which is hardly any difference at all).  BUT, the display stand
will be different, because it doesnt list the saber as belonging to "Count Dooku",
but to "Darth Tyrannus".    Some might say that Dooku should be refered-to by
his SITH name, instead of his JEDI name.  Other than that, its exactly the
same lil widget...

I had planned on displaying it behind my Obi-Wan mini-sabers, from over-head it would have a sort of triangle lok to it, but when I ordered the As First Buit Obi-Wan saber the other night, I ended up ordering two of the display cases.  I think now, I'll display it in front of the cases.  I now have to figure out where I'm going to display the ROTS Obi-Wan LE saber I purchased.   :)

I'm rummaging through the Quill catalog's at work right now and seeing what I can find.  I have a client that has his name plaque in a display case on his desk (no idea why) and it's the perfect size for the mini maul.  Since I don't feel like dusting it, I am going to find something for it to sit in.  I'll post more later when I find what I am looking for.

Received my CS Maul Mini-saber today and it's pretty cool looking.

One small comment about it is that it's kind of light compared to the other sabers....I wonder if it's hollow.
Title: Re: Master Replicas: Mini-sabers
Post by: JediMAC on August 17, 2005, 05:02 AM
Yeah, keep us posted on that, Beth!

Thought my Maul would've been here by now...  Do you guys know where they're shipping from (listed on your packages)?  Many of the Lucas licensees are here in SoCal, so things usually arrive real quick once they've shipped, but apparently not this one.

BUT, the display stand
will be different, because it doesnt list the saber as belonging to "Count Dooku",
but to "Darth Tyrannus".    Some might say that Dooku should be refered-to by
his SITH name, instead of his JEDI name.

Now that's an interesting little tidbit there.  Hadn't thought about that, but I think I'd like the "Tyrannus" stand too, despite the insignificant change to it's respective saber.  Thanks for the tip, BH.

Got my Maul today too, finally.  Looks nice, but I agree that it feels a little light, and may be hollow.  Not sure.  I also agree that the set looks a little strange with the missing card in that big empty section of the case.  I also don't care much for that black felt covering, since it's rubbed off all over everything, including the saber which is now covered in black dust.  Poor choice on that stuff.  Just trying to remove all the tape left my fingers all black.

But still, cool saber!  Glad they finally made this one...  8)

I'll have to look over the stuff that's in there, but may have a coupon or two to hand over.  I'll be using the FX coupon for sure, but after that I'm not sure what will be useful to me.  Any word on expiry dates?

No membership card in the mail for me yet...  :-\

I finally nabbed the three ROTS Jedi sabers off a seller on ebay for about $20 each.  Not too bad...

I assume the Vader and Tyranus ones haven't been released yet?  I'm so far behind on the mini saber news, but I'd assume that's the case, since I haven't seen a single one available on eBay in the past 3 weeks...

Beth, did you get your display cases yet?  Identical to the old ones, sans text?  I've been pretty shocked to see the old "Sith Collection" case vault above the "Jedi" case recently.  Weird...  I'd still love to get a "2004 Jedi Collection" case though.  I'll probably bite the bullet at some point, I'm sure...

And welcome to the club Brent.  Now get off your lazy ass, and start catching up on all the rest of the ones you've missed so far!

Matt #3.14,

The Tyrannus, Vader and the battle damaged Maul mini sabers will be released (or re-released as the case may be) this fall.  I need them as well.  Although my Saber focus has definitely been Obi-Wan related, I do like the Dooku and Maul Sabers.  I'll also most likely get a Vader mini-saber and another case, so I can put all three sith sabers into one, leaving the other two cases I've purchased for my Obi-Wan sabers.

See Brent...you don't have to get all of them!   :D

LE Blasters are about $400

OK, now I know there's miniscule changes to the Vader and Dooku/Tyrannus sabers, but that's the first I've heard of the BD Maul saber being re-released.  Any word on differences on that one, or is it identical to the first one?

Um, I think you missed what I was getting at.  Matt said that the Sith case had vaulted past the Jedi case, so my question really was "what are the cases going for now?"  I know how much minis cost since, aside from Yoda and any gold/chrome/smoked chrome, I have every one of them.  I don't do any of the LE stuff.

Basically what I'm asking is what is the going rate right now for all of the regular pieces and the 2004 cases?
Title: Re: Master Replicas: Mini-sabers
Post by: Matt_Fury on September 13, 2005, 07:50 PM
Sorry about that....sometimes I swear I'm dyslexic or something.  :-\

I did a quick ebay search, but can not find anything on the old displays for the .45 sabers.  Odd, because I thought I saw an auction for one not too long ago.

As far as older .45 sabers.  They seem to be going for roughly the same value as if you purchased them from MR directly.  Generally, the ones no longer available are going for a little more, but nothing too drastic.  One big exception to this is the weathered ANH Obi-Wan saber...those things go for up around $80 US.

The ones that do consistently go at high prices are the Gold, Dark and Bright chrome exclusive sabers.  Luckily, these are the ones you don't care about.

Hope this helps out a little.

Jason - I can't find those auctions now either, but as of a week or two ago, they still came up in the recently completed section.  The Sith case went for about $70, but the Jedi one went for "only" about $55, or thereabouts.

Got these prices from a guy at 'Scum.  These sound about right to you guys?  Here's his post

2004 Jedi Collection w/ case $130-$150
2004 Sith Collection w/ case $130-150
Ep.III Sidious $30-40
Ep.III Obi-Wan $30-40
*Bad time to get rid of the Ep 3s, the prices are dropping like stones! A buyer if patient, can get them for $20...
weathered Obi-Wan exclusive $70-100 (you may get even more with a desperate buyer)
AFBB Obi-Wan exclusive $40-45
generic 3 tier case that houses the Obi-Wans $20-30 (still available for Big Time comics for $25)
generic upright 3 level case (don't know, suppose similar to the 3 tier case).

2004 Jedi Collection w/ case $130-$150

Those are probably fine, if they come with the "non-generic" cases, which you better confirm with him.  I've seen the Luke and Mace sabers going for good money, so the Jedi set is a great deal for sure.  Haven't caught the Sith ones lately, but at $35 SRLP each, that's a good deal too with that case that's going for $60+ right now.

Quote
Ep.III Sidious $30-40
Ep.III Obi-Wan $30-40

Screw that.  Those things regularly go for under $20 on eBay (saw an Obi saber end at $12.50 a few weeks ago).  Dude's crazy asking that much right now, even if that's what he paid for 'em.

No idea on these.  Haven't followed the prices on them.  Just do a search of the Completed Items on eBay for those to get a good idea (I'm too lazy to).  MR is selling the new generic cases themselves now though.  Don't recall what they cost now, but maybe Beth or Matt F. could remind you...

Good luck.

LOL, no Matt.  He was saying that's what I could probably get for them if I sold them.  Remember, I have the entire collection except for Yoda (I don't do all the chrome/gold/smoked chrome) and I'm thinking of unloading my collection.  Just trying to figure out what I can get for everything.

Picked up my dark chrome Anakin mini today at the office and it was a nice as expected.  I like the dark chrome on this one more than Yoda's (probably due to the size of Yoda's) and the weight is perfect.  All I need now are those cases I ordered so I can put my three dark chrome together!!

Cool Beth....I haven't gotten the Dark Chrome Anakin saber yet....I may pick up that one as well as the regular Anakin mini saber to fill up another case.

My plan for displaying my Mini sabers is:

Obi-Wan: AOTC, ROTS, Weathered

Gold Obi-Wan: AOTC, AFBB, ROTS

Dark Chrome Obi-Wan, AFBB

I plan on getting the Darth Tyrannus, Battle Damaged Maul and the two Anakin sabers for a total of 12.

The battle damaged Maul is pretty cool, I highly recommend it.  I could kick myself for NOT getting the full scale edition of this one.  I didn't think much of it when it first came out but now it's one of two piece's I am missing (and I become Colman at this point) and I hate not having all the sabers. :P

I've seen quite a few pictures of the Damaged Maul saber and it does look really cool...I'm not all that broken up about not having the full sized one mainly because I focus on the Obi-Wan sabers.

If I miss out on the Elite Edition Obi-Wan saber I'm going to be pissed.

I also found another site that makes display cases.  Not too bad on price either.

Check them out here. (http://www.containerstore.com/browse/index.jhtml?CATID=233)

You and me both.  I am praying that they don't go on sale until the first week of October.  At least I can find someplace to get internet access once I am actually in Ohio.  The Insider (#84) claimed a November sale date but since that was printed about two months ago, I'll go with Amy's post over at RS as the next week (or two) time frame.

So the Vader and Tyranus ROTS mini sabers have finally been released now, right...?

And how's Ohio?  :P

Nothing has shipped yet.  Still have all of 2005 to put on display so they better get their butt's in gear and start shipping those puppies out!!

And how's Ohio?  :P

The Walmart has rewarded me with some good stuff but they have no Target or TRU local.  I still have to drive the two hour round trip for those stores.  I don't start my new job until next week and I am climbing the walls trying to find stuff to do.  I can only talk to the dog and the cat for so long!! :P

Just got my mini ROTS Vader saber in the mail and will be sending away for the LE.  Love the design and put two quick pictures on my webshots page.  They are at the end of page 4 of the saber photo album.

MR Sabers (http://community.webshots.com/user/twilzia)

The handle has seven grips.  The main part has two small copper tri-shaped items on each side of the emitter box.  There is a small design on the top silver box that sits on the black wrap-around band.  The end even has a small black shiny button instead of being all sealed in silver.  I really like this design and the only down side is the saber (and my hands) were covered in black from the little box that it sits in.  You'd think that MR would use a slightly better material on the plastic boxes.  It comes right off but is annoying none the less.

Sweet pictures Beth.  I just got my Damaged Maul mini saber yesterday and it's pretty sweet.  Although, the crystal in exposed portion is a bit orange.  I thought it would be more red.  Still looks cool though.

I also got an e-mail that the mini Darth Tyrannus saber I ordered has shipped, with an estimated delivery date of 19 October.  Guess I was a little off on my guess on when it would come out.   :D

Well, I finally bit the bullet and nabbed the "2004 Jedi Collection" saber case off of eBay for $28 and change (plus shipping).  Glad to finally put that HTF piece behind me now, so I can focus on grabbing those final 3 Sith sabers now.

He had another Jedi Collection case that ended shortly after mine, for only $26.  He also put up a Sith Collection case that got BIN'd for $39.99.  At least they're coming down a bit now.  Weird that the Sith and Jedi cases have flip flopped now though, since that Jedi case was running upwards of $60-$75 for a long while there, and the Sith cases were a dime a dozen...

thanks for the completmentary beer Matt_Fury  ;D

the difference in price doesn't even compare to the 1:1 scale line... $40 for the :45's and $300+ for the big ones... jeez.

now the next step is figuring out which variation of the Yoda I want.... half the fun for me is the hunt... checking prices, online photo archives, reading reviews, until I figure out wtf to buy.
there seems to be a grip of different ones... black chrome, black chrome w/ gold, Comic Con version etc. etc.  ??? ???
Title: Re: Master Replicas: Mini-sabers

I would suggest getting the movie accurate version first.  It's most likely the easiest and cheapest to pick up right now.  After that, try to pick up the gold chase and black chrome editions.  Those will take a bit more hunting.

I had a hell of a time getting all the "Special" Obi-Wan mini-sabers, with the exception of the Black Chrome ROTS version, which Ryan picked up for me at CIII.  Oddly enough, that was the one that got me on this whole saber binge!   ;D

So I'm catching up on the MR news that I've missed over the past several weeks.  According to our MR news report (http://www.jedidefender.com/newspro/fullnews.cgi?newsid1135334895,25626,), the following are on the way:

Quote
Scaled Replicas:

-Luke Skywalker Ep IV Lightsaber
-Obi-Wan Kenobi Weathered Ep IV Lightsaber
-Luke Skywalker Ep V Lightsaber
-Darth Vader Ep V Lightsaber
-Anakin Skywalker Ep II Lightsaber

I assume that "scaled" means the .45 versions, right, since they're listed separately from the rest of the (apparently) full-sized versions...

Mostly rehashes there, and it's perplexing to not see Qui-Gon's saber listed in that lineup, since I thought that MR had said last year that there would definitely be a full sized and .45 version of that one coming soon.  Or am I just going crazy?

I'll have to get a new thread started on the .45 blasters, unless we've got one somewhere already...  Those should be very cool as well!

I'm sure MR will make a mini Qui-Gon.  I seem to remember the same thing (about the mini one and LE one for 2006) but since they are kicking out a CE for Qui-Gon maybe they will hold off for 2007 on the mini.  I was really hoping it would be the collector society membership item but others seem to think it will be Marvel related.

The Anakin and Obi-Wan (weathered) mini are for sale and shipping this month.  Luke (IV) is also going to start shipping in February.  I already have Luke and Obi-Wan so I am going to hold off on Anakin and see if I get any coupons to use when the collector society becomes available or just order from the saber vault.

I received my first ever Master Replicas piece yesterday, the Ep IV Darth Vader mini saber.  Very, very cool.  The case is very sharp, and the stand is a really great accessory to make the mini stand out.  And of course, the detailing on the saber itself is quite impressive for such a small piece.  All for $26US shipped.  8)

Someday I hope to get my hands on the full size version, but this will work just fine for now in my Vader focus.  :)

Post by: Brian on January 12, 2006, 11:28 AM
I've really been considering these scaled replicas, but have yet to purchase any.  The price is a lot more manageable to me, as I could never afford the regular versions.  I just don't know if it would bother me that they aren't "actual size" once I had them.  I'm tempted to order a Luke saber, maybe Vader, and then see what the blasters look like once they are released.
Title: Re: Master Replicas: Mini-sabers
Post by: JesseVader08 on January 12, 2006, 01:39 PM
I don't think you'd be disappointed with the mini-sabers Brian.  It was kinda funny though, even though I knew it would be small, I was still surprised how small it really was.  But the impressive detail quickly took care of that and I'm very happy with it.  I don't plan on buying any others since I just wanted one for my Vader focus, but I certainly don't regret the purchase.

Besides a full size Vader saber, the only other MR item I've been interested in was the Jango Fett blaster set, or maybe a Stormtrooper blaster.  But the price will likely keep me from ever buying either.

Post by: Zodach on January 12, 2006, 03:14 PM
I really enjoy the mini line.  They look great in the 3-tiered display cases as well.  I have the 2004 Sith and Jedi cases I got from eBay along with the first 6 sabers.  Like many others, I can't afford or even justify spending $350+ on a full size version.  I still don't understand how they can make something in .45 scale 1/10th of the price.
Title: Re: Master Replicas: Mini-sabers
Post by: Matt_Fury on January 13, 2006, 02:42 PM
Glad you enjoy the new Saber Jesse.  If you like the mini saber, you'll love the LE ones.  The way they come with their own display cases is really cool and they display so incredibly well.

As far as the new mini-sabers, I don't see myself getting them, since I already have the weathered Obi-Wan saber and that's the only one that appeals to me (with that whole Obi-Wan focus I have in my collection).
Title: Re: Master Replicas: Mini-sabers
Post by: jadesfire on January 19, 2006, 06:38 PM
Well, a new revised mini will join the others in 2006 as an exclusive to those that join the collector society:

Collector Society (http://masterreplicas.com/customer/starwars/starwars_product_detail.php?pid=8541)

It's a matte finish of Mace Windu's saber.  It's not exactly exciting news considering an actual new mini would have been a better choice but at least it is a Star Wars item.
Title: Re: Master Replicas: Mini-sabers
Post by: Matt_Fury on January 19, 2006, 08:14 PM
Hmmm.  I don't know if I'll rejoin the CS or not.  Sure the saber's kind of cool and it is a Star Wars item, but I doubt they are going to make any more Obi-Wan items that I'd have trouble getting unless I were a CS member.

Oh well...something to think about I guess.
Title: Re: Master Replicas: Mini-sabers
Post by: Morgbug on January 19, 2006, 09:22 PM
It's neat, but I'm not really into the mini's.  I doubt I'll join the CS as well.  I never used my coupons and they screwed up on my shipment of the first CS stuff - no card yet (or likely ever) but worse, they filled out the invoice with DOUBLE the value on it, meaning I had to pay twice as much in customs fees. >:(  Now I know they're not responsible for idiotic Canadian taxes, but they sure as hell are responsible for an accurate declaration.   The worst part is that the customer service department went to all the trouble of sending an automated response to my inquiry and have done nothing since.  That is not service and I'm really not about to throw good money after bad.  I think they're products are great, but typical company that doesn't give two ***** about a customer unless they're a US citizen.   ::)  I felt like I was dealing with Hasbro and Jedi Master Points - oh look, a Canadian, **** 'em. >:( >:( >:(

During the Con a buddy I know's friend went up to the MR booth and saw a guy looking at a gold version saber..he asked the 'other' customer if he could look at that and the guy said sure then he asked if he could buy it...so he ended up with a 1 in 50 collectible. The amazing thing beyond all this was next he asked an employee to 'look for' a gold version solo blaster and they did, so he got both :o.

The sad end of the story was that he resells everything on ebay >:(

So is this line pretty much over now?  The three Sith minis from a while back were the last regular releases, correct?  No word on anything beyond those that I've heard, so I'm guessing they're just moving into mini blaster line now, and that's all she wrote for these?

Bummer, as I was hoping maybe they'd put out a few more of these, or complete the Council's sabers, or Grievous's sabers, or something along those lines.

Oh well.  Onto the blasters now, I guess...

Kind of hard to think of what characters are left.  I think the only one they haven't done is a mini Qui-Gon saber.  I doubt you'd see a Grievous saber set since they all looked like Obi-Wan's and Anakin's anyway.

Fine with me if the line is done....I have all the Obi-Wan sabers, even the golds and dark chrome, which is all I really wanted in the first place...plus a few of the odd ones like Maul's regular and BD, Dooku's, etc.

I'm just looking for the last three from the ROTS line:  Sidious, Tyrannus, and Vader, I think.  They've been eternally dirt cheap on eBay, so I haven't been too concerned about grabbing them just yet, but I should probably get around to it soon here before they suddenly dry up on me...

I'll keep an eye out for the Gold Yoda for ya' though Jay.  The Mrs. said they just opened a Tuesday Morning store up here, so I'm still trying to figure out where, but will hit 'em up as soon as I can.

Ray, you might want to check the Tuesday Morning @ AHF.  It's located next door to Woodranch and across the theatre.

I've heard stories of the sales people not knowing what they are and TM getting more shipments.

This is true, the Tuesday Morning's in my area got them in.  A buddy got me a set of Ani/Obi ROTS for $21 total...  I dont' collect these but a little set to display on my TV stand is cool I think.  :)

They had Luke ANH, ESB Vader (I think), ROTJ sometones, ROTS Ani/Obi...

I think that's the ones people said they found, though I also heard people beat my friends there and bought upwards of 2 dozen (including gold ones).  Those stores are definitely getting them in though in some abundance for $10 each.

Im just looking for a mini ROTS Obi Wan.

Not anymore, you're not.  ;)

It was the last one left there actually, but I'll keep an eye out for anymore in the future.  Robb, are you looking for the first Dooku saber, or the subsequent Tyrannus saber (ROTS), which was nearly identical?  Or do you not really care which one of the two?

Has anyone seen any of the last three Sith sabers at TM (Sidious, Tyrannus, Vader)?

Thanks Matt. PM will be headed your way. As for the Dooku saber Im interested in either one really. Since I don't know much about this line Im guessing as I go.

Matt,

OUt here the sabers I heard were hitting were Obi/Ani from ROTS, Luke ANH, and Vader ESB...  I think.  And I thought someone mentioned ROTJ Luke too maybe but I'm not sure on that.

The Obi/Ani were the only ones I was able to get from a friend.  I was hoping for a LUke/Vader set too but it's not gonna happen now I guess.  :(

I picked up my first MR mini-saber today (Episode IV Weathered Obi-Wan saber) to display with my Sideshow Obi Wan PF.

I have a quick question though, while I was looking at the sabers I noticed some MR .45 scale weapons below the display. They had the Stormtrooper blaster and a Boba Fett blaster. I remember that the Boba blaster had a weathered look according to the site. But this Boba blaster looked like it had a black laquer finish and the top portion (scope) looked like a gold finish. Is there a difference between the two? Should I have picked up this Boba Blaster? I'm clueless when it comes to these things... :-\

Welcome to the world of the .45 scaled replicas nitro!

I think the item you have a question about is actually a special version of the scaled Boba Fett blaster.  If you look on the MR website (You guys may want to update your link from the front page btw).  You'll see a chrome plated version of Han's blaster was made as a convention exclusive.

During the year ROTS came out, several versions of sabers came out in a dark chrome finish, the ROTS dark chrome Obi-Wan saber was the CIII exclusive and is what basically got me into collecting all of the Obi-Wan sabers.  They also made gold plated chase versions which were a pain in the ass to get.

It was pretty fun hunting them down though.

thanks for the info matt!!

while i'm still unsure about getting the special version of the .33 boba blaster (w/ gold scope) because the original looks like alot better (and I'm not one to sell stuff down the line). i think i'm going to be getting a few of these within the next few weeks. i like them alot and i was weary with the first purchase because i was unsure of what to really expect with the piece on display. the saber in the package doesn't do it justice. i'm picking up the .45 Vader saber (i think the shop had both versions ANH & ESB...i'll pick up either one of the two) to display with my Sideshow PF Darth Vader.

That's cool.  I didn't plan on getting all the special versions at first either, but I actually started with a special version, so I guess it was inevitable.

I do suggest picking up one of the acrylic display cases for your sabers though...it's a great way to display them.

Actually, I have 3 Detolfs containing Sideshow's Star Wars Premium Format statues. I've got the Obi-Wan statue and the mini-saber on display right in front of him in the case.

And here is how I have the Detolf glass cabinets set-up. I think Darth's mini-saber will be next followed by Luke's. Eventually, I'll pick up a blaster to put the Han on display (I'm in the process of finding Han a riser so the statue isn't as floor level). The MR mini-sabers really look so much better in person when you are seeing the display...

Wow!  Very cool display Nitro.  Guess you won't need to get the MR display stands!   ;D

The mini sabers are addictive, I have 13 of them.  Mostly Obi-Wan sabers due to an Obi-Wan focus to my collection, both movie accurate and the special ones, the full and battle-damaged maul sabers, and a Dooku, and ROTS Anakin saber.

They are so cool to collect, are so easy to display and look so cool.

I just picked up a second thanks to your recomendation, matt!! they really are addicting. i don't think i'm feeling the blasters though (from what i've seen). i winded up buying a Darth Vader ANH mini-saber tonight. They had two versions available...either the reg (which I bought--I'm happy they had ANH saber over the ESB one) or the gold chase version. Of course I went for the reg because it would good better on display with my Vader PF. Now I'm going to hunt after the Luke ANH mini-saber  :)...

And so it begins!  Have fun with it...and definitely get just the ones you want, but don't think that the gold chase ones do not display well...my three are in a single case right next to the movie accurate ones and they look awesome.   ;D

As said several times these are a great alternative to the LE, SE and elite versions which can get pretty pricey....and they don't take up as much room.   :D

At half the size but a fraction of the price.... I jumped into these. I am very happy with them. Though I do need to figure out how to display them.

any recommendations on what mini-sabers are worth picking up?

i have 2 stores in the area charging 2 completely different prices (although they are the same chain). one store is charging $25 and they have a Darth vader ANH gold chase, Darth Maul (half saber), & yoda (episode 3) left. the other store has theirs marked up to $40. they had the darth tyrannus (count dooku), luke (anh or esb), and some others that i couldn't quite see in back of the counter...

nevermind, i've been seeing these mini sabers cheaper at some online shops. i just got the ANH Luke for $15. I think I'll stick with that.

anybody collect the mini blasters?

There's so many, I would suggest getting whatever you want.  The price point on any of them (with the exception of some rare ones like the gold Chase or exclusives) is more than reasonable, and shopping around can get you better deals on them.

I agree. Get what you like. That is all.

I personally have not paid more than $20 for any one shipped. (except the full Maul).

No idea how in the hell I missed the announcement, but apparently the Qui-Gon mini-saber is the CS exclusive for this year.  Oy.  Of course I'm no longer a member, so I suppose I've already missed out on the thing.  I would've just signed up with them again at C4, like I did at C3 (or was it Comic Con) to get the full Maul mini, but that's obviously no longer an option.  I might poke in there tonight to see if I can still sneak an order in, especially since I'll need to be a member in the morning to get my order in for the damned Wedge helmet.

So I guess the only mini-sabers that never really got done (that folks have been clamoring for) are the ROTJ Vader, TPM Obi-Wan, and possibly a V2 ROTJ Luke...  I'm not even sure what the differences are between the OT Vader saber already made, and the ROTJ version.  And is the ROTJ V2 Luke saber just weathered, or are there other differences with that one as well?  Anyone know?
Title: Re: Master Replicas: Mini-sabers
Post by: EdSolo on May 22, 2007, 07:25 AM
I believe the V2 Luke saber is the saber that we see for the majority of ROTJ.  I believe it is one of the stunt sabers with the blade part removed or sawed off.  I'm sure there must be some suttle differences since MR is making a full size one this year.

The CS kit is listed as in stock, so you can still grab one for the Qui Gon saber.  I just got mine yesterday and it looks great.  Sad to see that this will probably be the last one.

Yeah, I wandered over to MR to check on it's status right after I made the post above, and when I saw the 2007 CS kit was still in stock, I decided to go ahead and nab it to get that Qui-Gon mini.  Plus, my new (renewed) CS membership allows me to get in for the Wedge helmet later this morning (and at the extra 10% off now), which I wouldn't have been able to get had I waited 'til Thursday as a non-member, since I would've been standing in the C4 line at that time, while it possible sold out.  Pre-ordering my Stormie helmet with the Wedge one, while I'm at it.

Just happy to have the Qui mini saber locked up now.  Any word on cases for it (custom, or MR versions)?  I know there's a nice custom Maul case goin' around for the full-sized Maul mini from the 2005 CS kit.  Or does it come with it's usual stand, in which case you can put it in one of the regular 3-tiered mini saber display cases?

I winded up signing up earlier today to. The only thing is when I went to purchase the CIV exclusives (Scaled Medal Of Yavin & Wedge Helmet) it came uup as it's listed prices and not 10% like the other products on my product page. I didn't feel like shelling out another $60 to get the Wedge helmet (I'm still on the fence so I backed off)...I did order the Scaled Medal of Yavin though. I'm wondering how it's going to be shipped because I like my scaled replicas on display (especially the sabers that I've been picking up lately). Still at $15, I thought it was a nice piece to go along with the rest of my collection.

I checked the shipping for both exclusives separately and shipping doubled when put together (from $6-12) so I guess it doesn't matter if the orders are separate or not. Still, I'm on the fence for that Wedge though. A piece of me is telling me to get it (especially since it's an exclusive) and another piece of me is telling me to back off (I'm unsure of getting into the studio scale helmets and besides I already shelled out $75 today on the membership (with CS Saber) along with the MOY. I gotta ask myself if I really want to spend another $60 with another preorder I'm going to do next week for the MR Animal.

I noticed that this morning as well, and e-mailed Master Replicas about right after I placed my order, inquiring as to my missing $5.50 discount on the Wedge helmet (the Stormtrooper helmet got reduced, however).  Haven't heard back from them yet, but I'll let you know what they have to say when I do.  I trust I'll be getting an adjustment to my order, since CS members are supposed to automatically receive the "10% discount on ALL items"...

I don't believe MR does discounts on exclusive items.  The Gree helmet was regular price for CS members.

Well here's something that just sort of sucks.  I recently moved and when I finally got to the point in unpacking that I could display my scaled lightsabers again, the gold Obi-Wan AOTC saber box had opened in the tote it was in, spilling the contents all over.  I have the saber, the base and the certificate of authenticity, but I cannot find the two clear plastic parts of the stand to display it properly.

Of course this saber's damn near impossible to find...so I cannot just buy another and use the stands.  Anyone know how I could go about fabricating new ones?

for $80 I could have the 2 European exclusives and truely be done with that set.

I have a horror story to tell about those two pieces.

I ordered them from an online retailer in the UK. I figured out how much the pound translated into the US dollar and decided that I wanted these and it was worth the $100+ to get both of them. I was then charged about $280 on my card. When I wrote them to find out what happened, they told me that their prices are in sterling silver, not pounds.  :o What a complete waste of money. Oh well, it was a few years back and I've learned my lesson.
