Title: 2007 30AC UGH Promotion
Post by: David on February 11, 2007, 01:36 PM
So, UGH returns! What are you guys doing? Participating? Kinda participating? Thinking, 'UGH...UGH's back!'?

Thoughts?...

I'm not happy about UGH again. I felt I was lucky to get the first set and don't want to do it again.

I'll participate in UGH as much as last year - with the vintage figures only.  I'd like to get that coin set, and I like the George Trooper figure from last year as well.  As far as the basic line, I likely won't bother searching for the rumored "gold" coins.  I can honestly say I never saw a single UGH basic figure last year at all.  I think I saw everything else at least once last year, even the figures considered to be "rare", but I never saw one of those "foil" carded figures with silver holos.

Post by: Darby on February 19, 2007, 12:33 PM
Yeah, this is a big pass for me again this year.  I'll do the vintage mail-in only because I'm buying all of the figures, but as for gold coins or whatever else is out there, forget about it.

I'm not happy about UGH again. I felt I was lucky to get the first set and don't want to do it again.

The only thing that has me down about it is it'll leave the coin folder very unfinished looking without them now.  That's disappointing.  :(

I wish you could mail in for a set of the regular UGH coins too...  I hate the thoughts of the folder being unfinished is all.

Post by: Rob on February 20, 2007, 02:26 AM
I managed to land all the UGH figures last time around... I'll try to find whatever they're selling this time too - but like last time, I certainly won't stress over it or go out of my way looking for them.
Title: Re: UGH 2007

Vintage mail-a-way only for me.
Title: Re: UGH 2007
Post by: Ben on February 20, 2007, 03:00 AM
I'll do the mail-away, for sure. As for the rest, I'll just wait and see if I find any at retail. I found about five of the 2006 UGH figures with the foil cards and silver stands, but I wasn't going out of my way to look for them. I simply happened upon them.
Title: Re: UGH 2007
Post by: Artoo on February 20, 2007, 05:12 PM
Ther regular UGH is gay. The Vintage UGH is meh-ish. I would of preferred a real mail-away from the vintage  days instead.....Maybe next year. ::)

Post by: starwax137 on February 21, 2007, 04:45 PM
I'll be doing the same as last year: I will gladly buy the UGH versions of figures in place of the regular ones if I see them, but I'm not going to stress about it. The only problem is that I will want my coin folder to be nice and complete, and that would require buying all the UGHs in addition to the regular versions. :-\

I'm going to hoard all the 2007 UGH figures I can!!  I'm going to put them all in Star Cases and then put them into storage!!

Then, in 15 years I'll sell them off and use the HUGE sums of cash I'll get to put my kids through college!!  (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/Themes/default/images/post/cheesy.gif)

After all, take a look at the ridiculously high prices (http://cgi.ebay.com/STAR-WARS-UGH-Figure-Lot-of-7-Cody-Scorch-Vader_W0QQitemZ220083997614QQihZ012QQcategoryZ2476QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) the 2006 UGHs are fetching on eBay!  Nearly $7 each with shipping!!   :o

I wonder if the idea of coins (medallions?) will have an impact on the secondary value of the UGH this time around then...  Personally I saw only 3 UGH figures total last year as I recall...  I have a Vader sitting here I had for a friend who bailed.  Didn't see much though.

The coins, since they're trying to make them ultra collectible, may impact how the secondary market is for these...  Or it may not and my speculating may just be total BS.
Title: Re: UGH 2007
Post by: ruiner on February 22, 2007, 09:07 AM
I do think the gold coins will be more 'valuable' in the future than the silver plastic hologram figures.  I thnk there's a lot of excitement about the coins because A.) they are character specific and B.) their nod to the original POTF line - which is quite valuable if you have a complete set.

I just hope there is not a gold coin for every figure this year.

Didn't Hasbro mention in a Q&A that this years UGH's would be produced in a greater quantity? Or have I been doing crack again?

I just hope that there will only be a few of them like they did last year. I beleive it was around 10 or so. I would like to get all the gold coins, while last year i didn't care. Here's hoping for more luck.

Post by: Madcow on February 22, 2007, 01:55 PM
I only found 2 UGH figures last year (Fett & Snowtrooper) of which I kept the Fett just because I thought it was a cool looking figure in the package. Personally, I don't really care for chases unless they relate to a character I like/collect. This time around I'll stick to the mentality of "if I find it, i'll buy it" but i'm certainly not driving myself bonkers looking for them...

I actually found quite a few UGH's but just did not care about them either way.  I took a UGH CMD Cody and opened it right up.  I probably should have sold it on Ebay for $30 or whatever it was going for at the time.  Oh well.  That is why I am poor  :P

I don't think i am going to spend extra money this year, but i am going to make more of an effort to search for them compared to last year. I didn't look at all. I found 2 on the pegs and that was all i bought.

The madness begins... (http://www.galactichunter.com/absolutenm/templates/full_article_template_1.asp?articleid=6506&zoneid=2)

Now that I've seen it, I have to say that the gold foil looks really strange.  I guess I'm already so used to the red/black/silver look that the gold on there looks funny to me.

I agree.  The silver on the black from the last round looked quite good IMO but this just looks....bad.  Oh well, nothing screams cash to a scalper than a gold foiled card with a gold coin I suppose.

Thanks Hasbro!  >:(

I never ended up seeing a single one of the UGH figures last year, but I wasn't too worried about it.  If I happened to see one of these at retail, I'd probably pick it up, but otherwise I don't mind if I miss them.  The gold coins are kind of neat, but the cards look a little different.

Agreed.  Nothing screams cash to a scalper than a nice shiny gold coin/card.  :-\

I was pretty good about getting in the store at opening during the last UGH craze only to have HW guys racing past me to hit the SW aisle first.  I'm going to try a different approach this year and hit they're aisle while they're busy raping my pegs.....At least the UGHs don't have dollar signs on them (yet) like the uber TreasureHunts.  ::)

Post by: JACKOFTRADZE on May 30, 2007, 12:43 PM
I like that startegy, lets hit their aisle first! If they want them they have to trade in store!
Has anyone else ever notice 70% of HW guys have ZZ top beards and flannel. In south Jersey, SoCal and Chicago they do. If you are in the SW aisle and they try to push past you tug their beard!

I have a complete set of last years UGH's shame I did not sell them when they were worth something. Matbe I will open them for custom fodder......

Y'know, I hate to support stereotypes, but...last summer I was working a job a few blocks from a new Wal-mart.  One day, I stopped at the Wal-Mart as they were opening.  They were just a few people there, but one was a big scungy looking guy in sweatpants and a grubby t-sirt. He was unsahven, and his hair was all messed up like he'd just rolled out of bed. He really looked shabby.  I'm thinking, that guy's a toy collector, and I bet Hot Wheels is his thing. Anyway, the store opens and we both head towards the toy isle.  He goes straight for the HotWheels, and starts digging therough the pegs like a mad man.  He was a livin' stereotype.

Just a note.  I'm a big guy, but i realy try to always looke my best, especially when looking for toys at oddd hours.  Don't want to give my brother's a bda name.

Dude thats hilarious that you had them pegged before the store opened. I can do the same thing weather Star Wars of HW. I hate to support stereotypes but there is always some truth behind good, bad or indifferent. However there is sometime the truth of observation. I hit stores in the morning so I will snap up everyone I can and get my JD peeps hooked up!

Jess, I will give you first dibs if I open them pal! Not sure yet.

I just want a complete coin folder.  Something about that (like the Freeze Frames) is cool to me.

Hopefully this means they'll be both packed in more case assortments... I'd love to get that Concept Trooper, and the EU Holiday Fett is my most wanted figure of the entire 30AC line, besides the SL EU DarkTrooper of course.

Title: Re: 2007 30AC UGH Promotion
Post by: Jeff on June 19, 2007, 11:33 PM
So, based on the Yak Hasbro Q&A answer...

Case #87500000H:
- UGH #02 Galactic Marine
- UGH #04 R2-D2
- UGH #06 Mace Windu

Case #87500000J:
- UGH #09 McQuarrie Stormtrooper
- UGH #11 Han Solo
- UGH #12 Luke Skywalker (Yavin Ceremony)

Case #87500000K;
- UGH #14 Biggs (X-Wing)
- UGH #15 McQuarrie Boba Fett
- UGH #16 Darth Vader (Death Star Duel)

Case #87500000U:
- UGH #07 Airborne Trooper
- UGH #21 McQuarrie Chewbacca
- UGH #24 Boba Fett (animated Debut)

So that's at least 3 of the McQuarries coming back as UGHs.   ::)

Oh, and it's basically 1/2 of the first 24 figures.  Would have been nice if they would have spread them out a bit more to get more diversity in there, but whatever I guess.

I can't really match these up with any of the cases up for pre-order at EE, so I guess they aren't coming just yet...

It looks like wave 4 is "D" and 5 is "E" if I read it correctly. If that's correct it may be awhile before these hit if wave 5 is due in September. Maybe Christmas or, God forbid, these hit during Black Friday. I'm not going to worry too much about it. I plan on preordering cases from here on out for 30th. Not so much to get the UGH but to make it easier to keep getting Mcfigs.

Looks like EE has these available for preorder now. I got an email on it today. All revision cases for wave 4. And I was wrong, I guess these are all shipping in September and 1 looks like it may ship in August. I'm thinking I may wait for New Force to list these since they've been having better luck filling preorders but I'm thinking if hasbro is going to screw them these would be the waves they do it on. Thoughts? I really hate preordering from EE when their USPS shipping is the same as NF's UPS shipping and their cases are about $9 more. I have a case of wave 2.1 on the way from EE now and depending on the condition I may cancel any other open orders I have with them and move them all to NF. Since I only recently started preordering from NF and I've never ordered a case of figures from EE, only comics, I'm not sure what condition they'll arrive in. Anyone have any experience with this they'd like to comment with?

Good one Jeff.  I decided against ordering from NFC just because I didn't want to have all the extra figures from these waves.  I'm on the fence on this whole UGH this year.  I skipped UGP last year.  If I find any at retail, I'm not sure if I'll want to open them to put the coins in the album or put them in Star Cases as unopened.  95% of my collection is loose - just keep carded the "exclusives" usually.

That's definitely neat...  Smart collecting on Jeff's part.  I was contemplating a loose set, but man I dunno...  I saw barely any UGH last year so I'm doubting I'll luck into these on pegs, and obviously I didn't order like Jeff did.

Not so much really... I ended up with:

- all 12 UGH Figures (for me)
- my 14x Wave 4 figures (7 carded, 7 loose)
- a set of 7x Wave figures for a MN pal
- 5 more Wave 4 figures for other MN guys

That's 38, leaving just 10 extra pegwarmers to sell or return to Target/Wal-Mart.  ;)

Nice, it's looking very pertty.  Finding these will be such a pain for me with work and all.  May the force be with us all looking for these.

I didn't think of spliting cases with someone. I have a local friend who doesn't want the UGH, that could have helped soften the almost $400 blow.

I'm a quarter of the way there. It's weird that the first sighting of these in my area have all been the same case (4.4)

Yeah it is weird Anthony..it concerns me too. I hope stores don't get too much from one revision wave causing them to miss their auto order for some of the other revisions and end up skipping some waves.

These haven't hit Canada yet, so if anyone finds extras I'm interested in them.  Like everyone I'm interested in the McQuarrie figs but others as well.  A list below: ;)

R2-D2
Mace Windu
McQ stormtrooper
McQ Fett
Vader
McQ Chewbacca
Animated Fett

I'd take the clones too, but don't really have a need for them.

Yeah, I know, this early on it's not bloody likely, but just in case. :-X

I actually saw the physical case that hit my WM's, it's 4.75 for those who are keeping score. It looks to be the same as 4.4.

I was just looking through the Star Wars listings at TRU.com, and noticed that the Biggs Darklighter (Pilot) figure they have listed pictures a gold coin (and is in stock).  Who knows if that is what you get, but I just thought I'd pass it along if anyone was interested.

Experience with Marvel Legends and McFarlane sportspicks would suggest it's a total crapshoot.  You can return the item if it's not correct but I don't like the associated costs of doing that.

I've been wondering what HTS.com is going to do with/how they'll handle theirs.  Presumably those cases will go through their shop too, so they'll have to sell them somehow.  I wonder if it'll just be a surprise or if they'll actually post them as available. :o

I'll be honest here. I preordered the set with BBTS. NJ is pretty much scalper heaven so i have no chance of finding them. It breaks down to about 13.00 a figure. I dont mind paying since i am a sucker for the coins.

Had to travel all over the northern part of my state today for work and hit up 9 walmarts on my journey.  Didn't find anything until the last one I came to at about 2 in the afternoon.   Got 5 UGHs and 5 regular wave 4 figs.....off the clearance shelf.   Got em all for $5 each

I've got an extra gold coin from McChewie, Animated Fett, and Airborne - if anyone has or comes across extras of any of the others, I'd love to trade.

Ended up going on a run today at lunch because I hadn't gone in a while.  Low and behold when I walked into the local TRU, they were putting out the last of 5 cases of the Revision with Animated Boba, McChewie, and the Airbourne Trooper.  Man I'm glad it was a nice day today and I decided to go for that drive  ;D

Good score...

I'm sorta getting desperate on these.  I didn't see many UGH in '06, so if anyone finds UGH extras and doesn't mind parting with the coin, I'd greatly appreciate a "hand" getting them.  I've seen NOTHING since wave 3 around here, and even wave 2/3 figures are scarce actually (save for DST's).

Pitt's a wasteland right now.

Jesse, you could always go in with me on an order for cases. The wave 6 case looks to be pretty good. This case includes:
2X McSnowtroopers
2X Hans/Torture Racks
2X Lando Smugglers
2X McRebels
2X 4-Loms
1X Death Star Trooper
1X Stormtrooper

I've already posted in our local forums as well as here that I'll have extras of Han, Lando and 4-Lom. However if you want a case for yourself, the cases are only $75, plus a little for shipping. If I order two cases shipping is usually around $11 total. So that puts the total case cost at only $80.50. That's still well below retail, which is $7 per fig plus another 50 cents for tax. That comes to $90 for the same 12 at retail. Heck a $10 savings with only a couple of extras that should be fairly easy to trade isn't bad at all.

Let me know and I'll put you in on my order for a case for yourself (or if you just want the extras from my case). No need to panic on the lack of product when you'v got a fellow local collector willing to hook you up.

I know you say you like the thrill of the hunt, yet I see you getting frustrated all the time not finding stuff. Why not take some of the frustration out of the equation? Plus the moeny saved on gas alone should make this worth it as well. Then there's the time that you are saving so you can spend it with your lady and her kid.

Collecting has become a lot better for me, since I've decided to buy cases.

Seriously man, just think about it and let me know.

That's really cool that you were able to find them all.  I've only seen that one Rev on one day and haven't seen anything since.  I highly doubt I'm going to come across them again too.  Things have been pretty sparse around me lately.

Congrats again!

I missing the MCstormie, Luke, and Han.  I do want to keep the Mc's UGS but the common figures I dont know as of yet. I just want this year to be over! Im really cutting back in '08 just "new" molds and figures I have never had, like cantina creatures, Jabba's court, Jedi and Sith Lords. No no more Lukes,Obi, Hans,Chewy, R2, C3po, CLONES, or VADERS ( well maybe the battle damaged on from the Force unleashed)

I'm not necessarily hunting for them, but I have seen a ton more than last year.  I never did see one of last year's UGHs at all, and this year I think I've probably seen a dozen or so of them (not all different, but that many on the pegs).  I've only picked up a Han, but if I could afford it, I'd probably have grabbed the others just for the heck of it.  I think I've seen the following at least once at retail so far, if I remember correctly:

Han
Luke
Galactic Marine
Airborne Trooper
Mace Windu
R2-D2

For a brief moment today Entertainment Earth had the wave 4 revision 1, 2 and 3 cases in stock. They're all sold out now but at least I'm finally getting 3 of the 4 revision cases I ordered. Hopefully I'll have those early next week. Now if they only have the UGH figures, I've heard that some of these cases are showing up without UGH figures in them.

I managed to find McChewie, Animated Fett, Airborne, Artoo, Mace, Marine several times.

But the rest I've never seen.  I have 2 or 3 of them thanks to other parties - but I'm still missing a few, and would like to find a few more for openers...

I hope the rest show up in stores again.

Phew!  Managed to find the Han, Luke, and McStormy UGHs at Kohl's last night... Pricey at 9.99 but they were on sale for 7.49 and then another 15% off when I signed up for the store CC

All that's left is the McFett... anyone got an extra?
