The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6" Black Series Deluxe Line
« on: February 15, 2014, 09:33 PM »
It makes me kind of wonder - how many folks are really going to be excited for an accessory-less Jabba at $40?  He looks awesome... but I can already hear the complaining about value at $40 since most folks were expecting a Dais or carbonite han or crumb or whatever.

For me the value of Jabba depends on the price tag. If the figure is hollow rubber like the recent 4-inch releases, the price is rather steep with no accessories. If the figure is solid plastic, that would be a sturdy and heavy item, so the price would be justified to me.

I usually just ignore offers sent via messages, but if I'm in a good mood I'll respond to the person, politely decline, thank them for looking, etc. I tend to find offers to be annoying, mostly because if I wanted offers on my items I would add the "best offer" feature (also free now, BTW). I run sales and sometimes lower prices (then still have sales) on most of my items, but some things I am okay with sitting on for awhile to get the price I am looking for.

Jman, regarding your seller, it seems like he was being a dick. Responding to your inquiry/offer with a higher price than his listing seems straight up snarky and kinda rude.

Multipacks and things?  Sounds like GI Joe hasn't been abandoned yet.  Interesting.

Interesting assortment of figures coming. Repacks, concept case designs, some new repaints. Good stuff overall, and a nice "Best of" series.

Also, no Duke.  :P  ;D

Star Wars Rebels / Re: Rebels - Vehicles

Man oh man I am so excited for this thing:

I guess this is the AT-DP? Anyway, this was one of my favorite designs when I played Galactic Battlegrounds on the PC waaaaaaay back when I was a kid. I was excited when I saw Rebels was using it in the show last year, but I really didn't expect a good looking toy like this to be made. I'm stoked!

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: The Walking Dead

Lori and Dale were the only two big deaths on the show that I found shocking and unexpected. The writing was on the wall for Shane, Merle, Andrea, Herschel and The Governor so I wasn't surprised when they bit the dust. As much as I enjoy Daryl and Rick, seeing one of them get ambushed and eaten by walkers would really kick things up a notch.

Part of why we all saw those deaths coming is because TWD kills off main characters. Not because it was just so expected and the easy thing to do.

I can't wrap my head around the only way to make this show good is to kill off Rick, Michone, or Daryl. I know that isn't exactly what is being said, but close enough. I hope Michone or Daryl goes, but not for a while. I just want to know it could happen. Don't do it for the sake of doing it.

I wonder how many people are hoping Rick, Michone, or Daryl will die. It's not always about shock value.

I think Rick or Daryl would be prime characters to kill off because they are very well developed, and their deaths could be totally unexpected AND shocking. I feel they are the only characters on the show who could die in next week's episode and leave me totally devastated, but unfortunately they are apparently untouchable. I am not nearly as invested in the other characters as they haven't received the same level of development. With all of the characters being either untouchable or under-developed, the show lacks suspense and has become less enjoyable for me.

Of course, I'd be just as happy if development and attention was more balanced among all of the characters. Carol earlier this season and Michonne in this past episode were steps in the right direction. I would love to see Tyrese, Bob, and Sasha get similar attention. Keep Glenn, Maggie, and Beth in the picture as well. I would love to get invested in everyone on the show, so any death could have the same level of impact without a character needing a "focus" episode before.

I don't have Netflix so I'll have to figure a way around it I guess.  :-\

The Vintage Collection / Re: Toy R Us Vintage Republic Gunship

TRU.com has the Gunship for $69.99. That's a pretty solid deal IMO considering the previous release was also $70, and didn't include the turrets or figures.

Heads-up McMetal! I spotted TWD Wave 5 at my local TRU this morning for $16 apiece. They looked great and I was tempted to get a few figures now, but I'll wait for my online pre-order to ship.

Bleh... these new figures don't look too good. I could appreciate the Alien figures emulating the cancelled Kenner versions, but these figures just seem like all-around cheap cash grabs. For as much flak as I have given Hasbro lately about 5POA SL/Mission Poopies, at least they kept modern sculpting and lower prices for the line. Enough ranting for me, I should offer props to Funko for finding a way to make money off great film and TV properties while saving on sculpting and likeness costs.

Saga Legends / Re: Saga Legends "Mission Series" Figure 2-Packs
« on: February 6, 2014, 12:17 AM »
Paint quality has been slipping since 2008...  So it's not really new even.  Washes got cut, etc.  I could take plenty of time to list corner cuts.  Hasbro's made many for some years now.

I think I would relegate fewer paint apps to a different category than sloppiness. It's still Hasbro being cheap, but fewer paint apps don't necessarily mean the figure looks like crap. I had never seen more cross eyes, eyes painted on foreheads, unpainted/mis-painted areas, paint drips, and other sloppiness on Star Wars figures than I did in 2013. I would rather see Hasbro raise prices $1 or $2 if it would keep the figures from looking like toys I painted myself.  :P

Saga Legends / Re: Saga Legends "Mission Series" Figure 2-Packs
« on: February 5, 2014, 09:47 PM »
I noticed a drop in quality (paint, plastic, construction/assembly) on some Hasbro products back in 2012, mostly for Avengers movie figures and GI Joes. That drop seemed to spill over to Star Wars in 2013, starting with those "mini-rig" sets in the first half of the year and continuing with various Black Series, 5POA, and exclusive figures. I found the new wave of Mission Series last week, and all samples of all three sets I saw had paint issues. I can rationalize the poor paint on those figures since it's the "cheap" line, but if the Black Series "premium" lines get as bad I just won't buy.

The Black Series 3.75" / Re: Black Series Rumors

So out of the first ten or so OT 6" figures, we're looking at 3 Lukes?

Yikes.

Yeah... that has me re-thinking being a "completist" for the 6" scale. Too many Lukes for such a short time span.

I don't think anyone made a note of it but it looks like there is a "Sandtrooper Redeco" listed in the wave with Vader and Jedi Luke. It would be cool if there is different weathering and accessories (probe droid, dewback staff, rifle from TVC Sandtrooper) with the release, but I'm guessing it will just be a pauldron re-color.

Middle Earth / Re: The Hobbit - Toy Line

I got 4" Azog, Radagast, and Invisible Bilbo in the mail from the UK last week. Azog is a great looking figure, and it's a real shame it didn't get released with the white Warg as originally shown at Toy Fair last year.

As for any more Jaegers?  Not sure.  Randy has hinted at wanting to re-do Gypsy Danger already...

Bleh, I hate the frequent repaints/rehashes/retools that Neca does for certain characters/figures. The helmeted/unhelmeted variations of Aliens Marines and Predators really soured me on those lines. I was alright with the Gipsy Danger repaint as it was significantly different and had the cool sword attachments, but if Neca just makes more releases along those lines (new attachments and/or deco) I'll lose interest in this line fast.
