Title: Gentle Giant Indy Mini-Busts
Post by: Jeff on December 14, 2007, 12:17 AM
GG Indy Mini-Bust #1 - Raiders of the Lost Ark Indiana Jones:

From GG:
The Indiana Jones mini bust depicts Indy in his trademarked leather jacket, fedora and whip from Raiders of the Lost Ark.  Standing 7.5 inches tall Indy and retails for $55.

Look for it in July 2008!  :)

Like to see what the final piece will look like, $55. is not that shabby. Just hope the whip is not too fragile.  :-\

I'll likely pick up that piece.  Edition size will determine whether I preorder or wait for ebay to save some bucks.  I'm guessing they'll anchor the whip to the base and jacket in addition to the obvious attachment point of his hand.  Still, that long loop is kinda worrisome.

Nice piece.  Too bad about the face, though.  Looks weird.

Looks like GG took the complaints about the face to heart:

Looks better, but still not perfect.  Looks older than he did in Raiders.  Needs more stubble or something.

Added is the arm holding the Fertility Idol.  Removed is the holster and European Carry-all.

Looks a little better, still not great though.

I know this was announced/shown awhile ago, but I've been looking into maybe getting more Star Wars (and an Indy) mini bust, so I was going through GG's site and saw the pic for the ToD Indy mini bust (https://www.gentlegiantltd.com/catalog/product/detail/439).

Has anyone gotten the Raiders Indy bust, or has it even shipped yet (I don't think it has)?  Just curious how the actual turned out, after seeing a couple different versions of it in pictures.

Hasn't shipped yet Brian.  I'm still waiting on seeing an actual picture of it.  I'd definitely like to have a single mini-bust of Indy in my collection and possibly both (3 if they do TLC; 4 if they did Senior).  I'm happy to see the improvement and the change to the idol but I'll be patient.

With the announcement of the Australian Convention Exclusive Indy bust with Fertility Idol going up for PG members on Monday, I'm wondering if the holster/carryall is still the plan for the original bust.  That picture might well be of the exclusive and the former picture is still the general layout for the wider release.  Hoping they fixed the face anyway.

Gentle Giant's store is still selling the version (or at least it is still pictured there) with the holster and carry-all.  So I'm pretty convinced Matt's pic is the Aussie exclusive, which I think I'll pick up.

In my continuing conversation with myself, I ordered the exclusive version.

I think that might do it for the GG Indy stuff.  Might, might get the second (ToD) bust but definitely not getting the non-exclusive version of ROTLA.

I ordered this and passed on the Qui-Gon.

Did anyone order (and receive) the Indy mini bust?  I guess I'm talking about the ROTLA version, since the TOD one isn't out yet as far as I know.  As I've been picking up a few more Star Wars OT mini busts, I've thought about having one Indy bust to display with them as well - and I was wondering what this bust ended up looking like in person.  If you bought it, would you recommend it?

I have the PGM version (Australian exclusive in the Mousedroid picture) but haven't opened it yet, mostly because I'm quite leery about the whip being broken.  So it won't come out at all until I have some shelf for it to sit upon.

I don't know if the regular has shipped though.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if it had shipped either - but I noticed that BBTS has it listed as "in stock" (and cheaper) so I thought maybe it had.  It seemed like this bust has looked different in every picture so far, so I wasn't sure if it was worth picking up or not - or maybe waiting and seeing on the TOD version.

Don't know whether it will matter or not, but I'd go for the ToD version myself.  I wasn't going to buy the Raiders version until the exclusive with the Idol became available.  Both are fairly iconic, but I prefer the ToD version myself.

This might be old news, but I hadn't seen it mentioned before - I was just looking at pics of the rumored/upcoming Hoth busts over at GentleGiantCollectors.com (http://www.gentlegiantcollectors.com/), and noticed that there is an upcoming EE exclusive Short Round mini bust:

I wonder how far the mini bust line will go for Indy, seeing as so many of the other licensees (other than LEGO) seem to be cooling things off already.
