Holy cow! We're actually getting a brand new pilot sculpt!
Sir Steve's Guide Snowpeeder pictures (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/index.php?categoryid=13&p2_articleid=120)
-
Nice, but I'll pass.
-
Yeah, and the pack in figure actually looks fantastic! I guess that is the first time they have actually made an ESB pilot uniform correctly? Now they can repack a Luke head in place of Zev for the 3 3/4 line.
-
The snowspeeder mold retool is a nice addition as well. I just noticed that the flaps are now movable.
-
The snowspeeder itself seems unremarkable, but the the Snowspeeder pilot flightsuit looks like it's finally been nailed! The facial likeness is good, too. I only wish we could see the helmet in that shot.
But this figure should be the basis for any future Snowspeeder pilot Luke. That's been a figure we should have had done right some time ago.
-
Articulation looks to be crap. Swivel shoulders, no elbow articulation, can't tell if there's any knee articulation or not, etc. Don't get me wrong--it's a great-looking sculpt, and it's not often that they've put this much work into a pack-in figure, but it would suck if they just plopped a Luke head on it and stuck it in the basic line, without reworking the arms, at the very least.
Looks nice, though.
-
Awesome. I'll be picking this up I think.
-
Holy hell... that figure looks awesome.

Count me in...
:)
-
Did the Rebellion gain control of cloning technology, travel to this galaxy, kidnap and clone John Kerry, and then fly back to the Battle of Hoth? I mean, Riekkan was pretty similar to Kerry, and Zev looks like Kerry after putting on a bit of weight around the chin and cheeks. :)
In all seriousness, I'll be picking this one up. I gave my POTF2 Electronic Snowspeeder away a few months back, and with the opening wing flaps and the nice Zev figure, this one is a must buy for me. I just hope Target actually stocks them as well as they have the SATS BP and the DOG figure.
-
I"ll be getting one for sure, but are the boots entirely accurate? I thought all the pilots had those boots like Luke and the Rebel soldiers wore.
I'd like more articulation too if they ever put Luke in a snowspeeder outfit on the shelves for us.
But it is an OT vehicle so I am all in. Probably get 2.
-
I love the snowspeeders. It is cool and this one looks even better. I really like the pilot. I'll get two at least, if I can find them.
-

-
Put me down for one. I have yet to get a modern Snowspeeder, and this is just too good to pass up.
I just hope Target doesn't try to get more than $30 for it.
-
After looking at the figure for a little bit I realized it isn't a new sculpt at all. It's just a kitbash. Sure there are some new parts like the head and the arms, but that body and the legs belong to Dutch Vander. Which explains why the boots are innacurate, as they are just repainted grey. It appears the skirt is a seperately sculpted piece that fits in with the flight harness and may be glued down to the torso. The collar piece appears to have just been glued over the existing collar as well. That doesn't mean I don't like the figure. For a pack in this is very good.
I've got 3 POTF2 Snowspeeders, but I think I can find room for at leat one of these. :)

Maybe that's where Sir Steve's got them from.

I'll be grabbing this one.
Sure, it will be my 4th Snowspeeder but I'm a sucker for Rebel Pilots, especially when they took the time to give us a new removable helmet sculpt. :)
I just hope Target doesn't try to get more than $30 for it.
Classic OT Snowspeeder: 087-06-1799 - $29.99
-
The price is ok enough to warrant buying this for the figure and giving the speeder away...
Not to knock the snowspeeder though, it's one of the vintage's better sculpts I think, but it's HUGE compared to what it should be so I'm gonna pass on keeping it... I will say though, the Snowspeeder itself deserves a nod in quality improvements...
For instance, look at the paint applications there? Those are superior to any vehicle we've seen in the modern line so far, Green A-Wing included (which I feel is currently the #1 in quality). The burns from blaster fire are multi-layered and very professional looking (compared with a prop shot of the speeder). I think that and the additional breaking flaps retooling Hasbro did is worth a nod in the positive column... It's an overall improved ship from stem to stern, so I mean that's worth mentioning since Hasbro didn't just repaint and repackage something. A little extra effort is there, and man that paintjob is nice for this line of toys.
The figure I'm curious on... Are you sure that's Dutch's torso and legs, Ryan? I hope you're right as it'll be at least a slightly more poseable figure than it appears to be. I mean, on one hand I'm elated to see something "new" in as a pack-in figure, and obviously Jeff's right that the removable helmet is something Hasbro should've been doing with almost every Pilot pack-in we've seen so far... So it's great to get this one.
At the same time I find the lack of at least angle-cut joints at the elbows to be disappointing... I agree with Matthew that Hasbro just plunking a new LUke head onto this figure is NOT what I want in terms of a Snowspeeder Luke.
For one, the height is going to be wrong... BUt also I agree that I'd like more arm articulation. This figure, with new arms (at least with elbow/wrist joints added), would be an ideal base for a Wedge I think... But definitely not Luke. Of course, I'd be ok with them taking VTSC Luke and reworking him with the puffy add-ons. :) Right height and all...
The only thing is the boots don't match up then, but maybe new lower-legs would be possible?
Anyway the headsculpt is nice I think... Likeness seems really accurate. The helmet looks pretty good, and I'll buy this for the figure and give the Snowspeeder away I think or sell it separately.
Surprised at the work put into the pack-in... When was the last time they tried this hard?

He looks to be partially kitbashed. The arms, skirt and ring around the color are new. I main body appears to be Dutch. Much better than the old Target rebel pilots with the Biggs or Luke bodies.
The snowspeeder is kinda unimpressive, it looks too close to the POTF2 version. The WalMart snowspeeder's paint job was much better. I am still buying it, count me in for one!

Yeah. I'm pretty sure, everything seems to match up with the sculpt. If you look closely you can see what looks to be the knee joint just under the leg strap.
The chest box is repainted as is the harness. It looks like the wrists may have a swivel joint but like you Jesse I would have really like to have at least seen some angle cut elbows.
-
Jack, you and Ryan have a good eye. At least that means the knees are articulated.
-

Good. I'll pay $30 for a vehicle I don't yet have, especially when it comes with a neat pack-in like that one. :)
-
Fix the arms up a bit and this is a really well-done figure, pack-in or not, kitbash or not.
-
I say it looks pretty kickass for being a rehash, repaint, kitbash or whatever the hell else you guys say ;D
-
While the sppeeder does look like the POTF2 one, at least they returned to the vintage rear gun not the enormous missile launcher from the 90's.
And it looks like the damaged right side is cleaned up.
So you can have 4 Snowspeeders and they would all be varied enough to be true to the movie situation.
-
While the figure isn't perfect (the boots are wrong) it's cooler than anything I would have imagined that they would have put in. I'll buy this one in a heart beat. But I'm wondering why they don't bother with the vintage harpoon and tow-cable...
-
I think the shirt thing is gay looking. If this is the final production version, then this figure need work big time. I might get one if I can in stores, but will be customizing the figure that is for sure. He needs too much that Hasbro over looked.

As GH pointed out, there seems to be a mini-dio inside the package! Maybe that is actually plastic, and not cardboard! That would rock! 8)
-
i just want Zev :-\
-
I am getting it, because I don't have a snowspeeder vehicle.
Zev is awesome, which makes me wonder of two things.
1. Where's is our SA Snowspeeder Luke?
2. Where's is our SA Snowspeeder Wedge?
-
While it's a nice presentation and a neat figure (for a head swap) I can't justify paying $30 for a ship I acquired loose for $10.
To me it's a $15 ship packed with a $7 figure.
Big pass for me unless I find it on clearance for $20 or less.
You should have no problem finding this one Ben!
-
I'm actually pretty excited about this release, especially with a pretty new-ish figure included now. The snowspeeder was one of my favorite vehicles as a kid, and still today. It was one of the few vintage ships I had (and still have), so it has that extra bit of nostalgia as well. I have yet to pick up a modern one, and was kind of holding off since one was rumored for this year - and I'm glad I did. It looks pretty nice to me, and I would have never imagined we would get a Zev figure in the line. For some reason I've always liked that character, from when I was a kid, just because he "found" Han and Luke - and seemed pretty happy about it :P. Anyways, it looks good to me. Even though it is a repaint, its one of the items I'm looking forward to the most this year. Hopefully it will be easy to find.

I am sure they will give us the Snowspeeder Luke at some point now that they bothered with Zev. Not sure about Wedge though? They are funny about him, but I think they will eventually release him.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought they made a John Kerry Rebel Pilot. Political affiliations aside, I'm all over this when it comes out. Total sucker for snowspeeders.
-
I'm buying it,if he has knees they can rehash him for a Snowspeeder Luke & Wedge with new arms. ;D
-
Damn, first the X-wing and now this. They got me for 2 vehicles this year.
-
Anybody know the expected release date for this?
-
Late July early August sometime.
-
I'm in too. I love the kitbashed figure; it is one of the best ones yet! You know, the rebel pilots had their black boots on when they had the briefing with princess Leia just before the attack; it has me wondering if Luke is the only one with the snowboots since in filming they knew he would have to run in the snow.
-
"To me it's a $15 ship packed with a $7 figure.

Huh? So you're saying it's worth 22.00, but you want it for under 20.00? No wonder Hasbro is reluctant to make ships.
-
Now that I look at Zev some more a VTSC Luke re-hash would be more suitable for Snowspeeder Luke.Hasbro has many in for ALL of the vehicles this year. :-\

Yes. That's what I'm saying it will take for me to buy a ship I already have.
Hasbro's reluctant to make ships? Where have I been?
Here's the schedule for this year:
*CW Gunship
*Swamp X-Wing
*Endor AT-AT
*Windu Starfighter
*Vader Starfighter
*Obi Wan Starfighter
*Anakin Starfighter
*Greivous' Wheelbike
*Zev Snowspeeder
-
Sure they're going all out this year, Ruiner, but they haven't been so keen on giving us ships in the past.
I think this set looks great. I haven't picked up a snowspeeder yet (for some weird reason), so I'm really excited about this. I'll also have a rebel pilot body to use for new echo base rebel pilots.
-
If I can be sneaky about it, I might get 2 of these... mainly interested in the pilot. It looks so awesome.
:)

"Sneaky" as in sneaking it in past the woman?
:)
-
Yep, exactly. ;)
:)
-
That is sooo funny and so true. When I got the CW gunship my wife asked me why I bought another one, since I already had about 8 or 9 of them (different styles and duplicates). Since I customized some AOTC myself, the paint job excuse was no good. What can I say. :-X
-
That's a hell of a lot of Gunships... I remember back at the original Yak forums about 6 years ago, didn't you have several AAT tanks Gatillo?
:)

Um...you do notice that NONE of them are new molds. They're all just repaints that Hasbro is gaurenteed to make money on.
Diego-Bah...maybe those pilots that Leia was talking to were the guys who flew the x-wings?
-
Yeah, where are the new molds? It really is ridiculous.

With all of the hype that has come from fans wanting the AT-TE, I can't imagine any of the others to get a significant amount of votes compared to it by the end of the poll.
-
Oh, speaking of vehicles, check out the new poll at www.yakface.com
:)
I voted for Grievous's ship.
-
I voted for the AT-Te, but mainly because I think making a custom Sail Barge might be easier than an AT-TE.
:)
-
Diego-Bah...maybe those pilots that Leia was talking to were the guys who flew the x-wings?
That does make sense since they were talking about 2 fighter against a Star Destroyer and such..
-
I was thinking, I really have to get this ship for the pilot. I wish they included a rear gunner too.
:)
-
Good point Chewie. Two pilots is best.
The only improvement I would like to see to the speeder, beyond the awesome flaps, is a corrected seat. The seat backs can, and should, certainly be moves cab forward. This would make it more accurate.
-
It's so huge though that moving the seats wouldn't be a huge improvement... not to me anyway. The Snowspeeder is like 1.5 times the size it should be! It's massive compared to even some starfighters that are to-scale... It's a ship I loved as a kid and features some spiffy details but man I just wish they'd crank out a new one of this to be honest, ala the Landspeeder. A to-scale Snowspeeder would actually have to be closer to the EU Airspeeder than the current sculpt it has... That's a big differences. :)
That's my gripe though... I'm going to nab one but either sell the snowspeeder on its own for a discount or I'm going to give it to someone. I want the figure though. :)
The boot issue is right, there's pilots w/out the Hoth boots on for whatever reason... THey are the fighter escort though that Leia is talking to while Luke and other pilots that flew the air cover mission are seen with the Hoth boots on (Wedge I believe you can see has the snowboots on as he says farewell to Luke, while a couple others loading gear up have them on). I'd assume this guy should've had them on too however it's easily debateable since we don't see his feet too. I like the figure, it's a lot better than some half-assed pack-ins we've gotten. I maybe just am used to garbage from them but this one seems decent. Too bad about the arms is all. You take just a hair more effort to put say the forearms and gloves from the AT-AT Driver on there and new shoulders, and you have a really great basic figure you'd probably get few complaints on if it were re-released at some point in the basic line.
-
Yeah I'm going to pass on this vehicle. Hasbro has done such a horrible job with scale that the snowspeeder is about 1/3rd the size of the AT-AT, when in reality is should be more the scale of a 10 year old kid (AT AT) swatting a bumble bee (snowspeeder).
A snowspeeder looks okay displayed separately, but when put into a scene with an AT AT, it looks idiotic.
Just another run of the mill of the ancient sculpt, and poor scale.
PASS
-
i think it's pretty cool. i definetley like the pilot, it's always good to have more of those, and the ship is the same old ship but still cool. i wouldn't mind having a couple of these!
-
I'll snag 2 and give the extra Snowspeeder to my nephew.
The pilot is nice, I'd like more articulation in the regular line release of a snowspeeder pilot, but this is a good start. Except the boots...the boots are hideous.
-
I don't know why scale has never been a big deal to me. I guess close enough is good enough. Sure, the old X-Wing and Tie fighter molds were pathetic, but the updated verisons of each, while slightly uderscaled, rock! The Snowspeeder has always been cool with me, but I'd love a closer to scale At-At, though I know I'd be insane.
-
I agree about the AT-AT Anthony. As a kid I remember playing with the snowspeeder and AT-AT a lot, especially flying around and under the AT-AT like in the ESB comic novelization I had.
I'm undecided about this one. I like the air brakes, but wish I had a snowspeeder with a vintage style harpoon/cable. I have the vintage ship (minus the tow cable) and the Walmart exclusive, so another snowspeeder will need to be different enough to justify the space. Those air brake flaps are really interesting, but I'll wait to see it in person to decide.
-
I'm getting this for the figure just as much as for the Snowspeeder. I'd love to see an AT-AT closer to the correct scale, but if the current one is going to run $80 for a repaint (no retooling and removed the electronics) then how much would a larger, all new sculpt AT-AT cost??? The size of the Snowspeeder never bother me either... how far (percent wise) is it off?
-
Well, %-wise I'm not always good at putting a # on it... The FX X-Wing is about 85% of what it should be though for instance... The Snowspeeder I'd say is maybe 50% too big? Slightly less than that maybe? The EU Airspeeder though is closer to the proper scale of a Snowspeeder actually. Airspeeders in the films seem to generally be smaller and more physically proportioned to their use. For instance a sporty little speeder like Anakin's one he narfed on Coruscant is tiny, same with Bail's, but a Republic Gunship is obviously bigger for its bigger purposes... The Snowspeeder is small for its two crewmen. The airspeeder the Jedi used in E3 seemed like simply a small wing with a cockpit, the Cloud Car, etc., etc... Even the T-16 which had semi-large wings was still a small craft by what we could see of it.
The Snow(Air)speeders on Hoth though are tiny... It's one of the few vehicles to have full size props built of it for filming, and it's really a dinky little thing overall... The Kenner toy is bigger than the A-Wing though, a starfighter with all the trimmings. :o
-
Looks great, I'll definately be getting one. I don't even know where my original POTF2 one is anyway.
-

Best photo on the net of this guy is right here at this point...
Other than the arms, he looks like a great figure to me. One that, if the arms were poseable, I'd be wanting head swaps and basic repackaging of. As a pack-in though, that's not too bad really given what we've seen for pack-ins over the years.
-
Great head sculpt (awesome pic too)!
-
nice but im gonna pass
-
After seeing all of the upcomming items, this is one of the few items I'm really looking forward to in the comming months.
-
After seeing all of the upcomming items, this is one of the few items I'm really looking forward to in the comming months.
Ditto!
- it's an OT Ship
- the ship has actually been improved
- it's got a new pack-in figure
- the pack in doesn't totally suck (re: Red Leader)
I'll take stuff like this and the new Dagobah X-wing over more "Rainbow Brite" Jedi Starfighters anyday. ;)
-
I agree, this Snowspeeder and the Dagobah X-Wing are two of the items I'm looking forward to the most this year. I hope they won't be too tough to get a hold of. The Snowspeeder has always been one of my favorite vehicles (one of the few I had as a kid), and for some reason I've never gotten a modern version. This one looks pretty good, so it turns out fine that I waited.
-
You have to give Hasbro props with these OT ship rehashes (well, maybe not the AT-AT). ;)
I think they realized that we weren't going to buy these ships anymore (again) unless they did something REALLY cool with them.
I'm very impressed with the X-Wing - so much so that I plan on picking one up.
The snowspeeder - I go back and forth on - I like the new flaps and the figure (to me) is just okay.
-
Anyone wanting to just sell off the figure, let me know. I'll pay a decent amount for it.
-
ok, I have watched the scene in Empire a few times over, in slow motion and on the biggest screen in the house.
It looks as if it would not be out of the realm of possibility for a Snowspeeder pilot to have the boots on that the figure is shown wearing.
Now we know Luke is not wearing them and Wedge is not wearing them, but there are several in the "briefing" that appear to be wearing either Jack boots or Riding boots. I can't confirm that any are Gray, but I can't tell that NONE are gray so I will not bitch on that point any more....
Now I've decided to be mad that the shoulders are not articulated enough...oh and I plan to hold my breath till they fix it..(Kidding of course about the breath holding part)
-
That's actually good to know. While the boot issue was less annoying to me than others, it's now moved more into the irrelevant column. :)
-
I understand the need for accuracy and for things to come through as true as possible; I deal with it at work everyday but I am not to picky about my toys. If off the top of my head I cannot tell it is wrong then in my mind it is not wrong. If I need to measure a figure/vehicle or bring our the cross sections book then I know that I feel to the dark side (in my mind and my own little world).
I do not stress about it and have fun. After all we are the only ones that really "care" about how accurate this things are.
I'll take any extra figures people do not like, heck even vehicles for that matter.
-
I understand and I usually don't stress over the accuracy of various Cantina Aliens, Jedi, Clones, anything Prequel (basically 90% of the line)...but since the Military aspect of Star Wars is what I like and since I can't customize it to get it right if Hasbro doesn't...I just find it easier to ask that they get it right when they do it.
It will be a travesty when they slap a Luke head on this figure and try to tell us it is Luke in Snowspeeder though...
-

True and you know they will eventually
-

And then they'll blame us for it by saying we requested it.....
When are these to be released?
-
I heard Winter. :P
-
Scum is reporting that this has been found in CA and KS.
-
I found it yesterday in STL, very cool ship, lots of fun.
-
I haven't been paying much attention to this item, but having reviewed the pics and comments, I have to get this. I sold off my POTF2 and POTJ versions some time ago, so it will be my only snowspeeder in the hanger.
The box is cool, I think the designers working on these could make a good case for selling some bigger background pieces for figure displays. Look at how much we appreciate nice backgrounds, whether it is ships or figure cardbacks!
-
I got one of these this morning before work by using the DPCI #.
Very nice ship, I love the colors and the re-tooling. Didn't have much time to digest it yet (since I had to go to work ::)), but maybe I can click some loose pictures tonight. :)
First impression of it though was very positive - Zev looks pretty good for a pack-in figure (light-years ahead of that Red Leader figure that came with that TRU X-Wing). Can't wait to get home and crack it open tonight!
edit - here's a few photos (http://www.jedidefender.com/newspro/fullnews.cgi?newsid1159246280,17954,) that I took so folks can get a better look at Zev... ;)
-
I had seen Zev in person yesterday and I was disappointed in the helmet paint scheme. The new pictures cemented that disappointment. Wasn't the helmet supposed to be in the green side? :P The pictures also give, what I hope, is a false impression that he's actually taller that the already tall Gold leader.
Ship looks cool. I forgot to look when I saw this, but in the picture it looks like the seat might actually be moved forward to make it more accurate to the prop.
-
If I recall, Zev's helmet is identical to Wedge's so I do believe the paintjob isn't quite right.
-
(http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/zevsenesca/img/movie_bg.jpg)
I don't know if we ever get a good shot of him outside of all those shadows in the Snowspeeder cockpit, so I think his green/gray helmet might be one of those "blue coat/brown coat" type of things.
It looks wrong on the toy because it's so plain and gray and we're used to brighter colors on the helmets, but at the same time, based on the picture above, it looks like it's pretty much correct as far as I can tell (without a better reference picture).
The pictures also give, what I hope, is a false impression that he's actually taller that the already tall Gold leader.
Actually, yeah he is taller. If you look at the legs on Zev, you will see they are closer together and not as spread out as Dutch/Wedge. Also, having that extra "skirt" thingy between the waist and the torso peices adds just a touch to his height. The end result is that he is slightly taller than Dutch/Wedge (at least on my figure anyway).
-
Anyone wanting to just sell off the figure, let me know. I'll pay a decent amount for it.
I feel the same way I just want the figure.
-
I cracked one of these open yesterday. I have to say that I'm disappointed with Zev. I don't think the helmet fits well, and as I mentioned before, I don't like the paint job on the helmet. While the arms and limited articulation is a mild disappointment. I could have given Hasbro a pass if the head and helmet were engineered to fit together better.
The Snowspeeder itself I give an A. The only improvement I'd like to see (giving it the A+ is the seats being moved forward.
-
Has anyone been actually finding these on the shelves, or just by using the DCPI #? They haven't shown up at our local stores yet, but I thought it might be just a little bit yet. I'm really looking forward to this, as I don't have a Snowspeeder (modern), and its one of my favorite ships of the Saga. I'm just hoping I don't miss the boat on these. The vehicle spots at our Target is taken up by the starfighter assortment of things, as well as an endcap of these and the "tubed" Unleashed. Just curious where everyone is finding these, or if they "technically" weren't supposed to be on the floor quite yet.

Yes, some Targets started the season reset over last weekend. We had a few brand new or remodeled Target stores open locally yesterday and they debuted with the new planogram - the 3 new non-exclusive Battle Packs, Kit's Starfighter, and the Snowspeeder were all stocked on the shelves.
Been a few reports of other Target stores across the country re-setting the toy aisle or stashing the Snowspeeders on the "overlfow" area on the very top shelf area.

Thanks for the info Jeff, I really appreciate it. I'll have to keep my eyes open for the reset, or on the top shelves, hopefully it will start showing up soon.

My local store has in them in the backroom right now. I just haven't wanted to wait and get them yet.

I'd already seen that actually... Typical "My toy is perfect, you're the one who is wrong!" kind of talk though. I bet it's also coming from people who feel Hasbro does them a service by making this stuff, and that we should be "thankful" we have it to buy. ::)
The best diagram I have seen of a Snowspeeder is from the old Tech Journals... It was based on the set blueprints for the lifesize snowspeeder more than anything, and it showed just how tiny it is. If I can, I'll scan it. It's the only diagram of the ship I've seen that truly reflects its scale because it includes a human silhouette for reference.
I love the guy who said, "Look you couldn't even fit legs in there, ILM got it wrong not Hasbro". that's the most brilliant thing I've ever heard. Yes, professional scale model makers got it wrong... Kenner didn't. Brilliant.
Anyway, the guys in that thread acting like they have a foggy friggin' clue about the actual dimensions are simply wrong. Bust out FSWtoIJ to get some actual real model dimensions and even a simple look at how tiny the Snowspeeder is... It's good to see at least some people in that thread appear to know what they're talking about.
Yes the Snowspeeder toy is big, yes it is a nice sculpt... Sometimes I like toys too for what they are, but when they're not to-scale they're not. You can't fudge that.
The ARC Fighter and Gunship are GREAT toys, probaby the best vehicles ever made by Hasbro (well the gunship anyway), but they're nto to-scale no matter how badly I wish them to be...
Oh and to the guy who said the Jedi Starfighter from ROTS is oversized, you're wrong as well... Hasbro actualy got that right. It's pretty spot-on. I was surprised, but it's the truth. I can provide the #'s on it. I was going to pass on JSF's till I got some specifics on the ship and I had to have them then.
I don't post at Rebelscum because of threads like that... There were the influx of uninformed people who just KNEW they were right about this or that... Well telling me, "My toy is right by me looking at it and everyone else who actually has sat down and figured this out mathematically is wrong", is more than enough for me to not really care what that person is saying.
Because how could Hasbro be wrong? Obviously it was the people who made the models and props who got it wrong... I'm still laughing about that. :D

The local Target finally did something with their SW section earlier this week, but still no sign of the Snowspeeder. They did a big endcap on the action figure aisle with a metric ton of TF Falcons, Kit Fisto's Snot Rocket, and the new mass-release BPs, but the shelf that had the "CLASSIC SNOWSPEEDER W/ REBEL: 29.99" sticker on it was quickly stocked with about 14 more Kit Fisto things. Great. ::)
Why can't Target put their exclusives online like every other retailer that gets exclusives? As far as I recall, the only one that made it to the website was the A-Wing back in 2003, but before and after that, Target seems to get more and more exclusive items but the distribution never seems to improve.
-
They did a big endcap on the action figure aisle with a metric ton of TF Falcons,
Yeah, what's the dealio with all the TF Falcons? Our Target doesn't have an endcap but rather the overstock shelf is stacked to the rafters with these things.
These are going to be a tough sell - we've seen that at WM already.
-
Here in NC, they are on and endcap with the TF Millenium Falcon.

I don't know if it was a "new store special" or what, but I stopped at one of the recently opened Target stores here in the Twin Cities and the Rogue Two Snowspeeders there are marked down to $22.49 (25% off)! :o
I grabbed one to return with my old receipt ($30 plus tax) for a savings of $8 after taxes - that's just too good to pass up! The shelf tag said the $22.49 price runs through the end of the month... might not hurt to check your local Targets for the discount price too!
-
I'll certainly be checking out that action tomorrow. I remember when $30 got you a snowspeeder with two figures. ;)
-
Great. I spend $30 on it Friday night, and now they're knocking $7 off.
I'd almost buy another for that price. :)
-
The Target near me has actually done a fairly good job of keeping these stocked. After my earlier complaints, Target finally stocked these three days later, and every time they've sold out, they've put four more out (four at a time on three separate occasions). Compare this to the Kit Fisto Snot Rocket, which still numbers in the mid-teens on the shelves, and I think that Target has a winner on their hands with this one.
It also points to the fact that while an EU ship here and there might be nice, the EU ship needs to have some visibility and/or accompanying figure who will, you know, do something novel like FIT IN THE COCKPIT. As nice as the AOTC and ROTS Jedi Starfighters are, I think it's time that Hasbro puts the nail in those coffins for the time being and concentrates on some other vehicles, like the Snowspeeder and the forthcoming Hailfire Droid and AAT, that haven't been at retail in a long time.
-
The Target closest to me that used to be fantastic, but went to crap in a single day, still has not put these out. I have to travel further to see if any of my local stores are doing the sale.
-
I'm getting this for the figure just as much as for the Snowspeeder.
Just to let you know- they didn't remove the electronics on the Endor AT-AT- they even changed the "scenary" and sounds a bit. I picked up the snowspeeder too but haven't freed it from the cardboard yet... it'll happen this week during "The Great Unboxing" event.....

The snowspeeder seems to be selling well at our local Target as well. Last time we were there, there were only 3 left on the otherwise empty shelf, with two shelves above it packed with Kit's Starfighter (or starfigher). I was half tempted to pick up Kit's ship, but since I've heard his figures don't even fit in there, I'm not sure if I will. As much as I like the starfighters (particularly the ROTS design), it might be time to take a break from those for a bit - and it does seem like the OT ships might be generating a little more interest right now.
-
These were on sale at one Minnesota Target at least- 22.49. It is a new store and they had over 50 fo them when they opened a couple weeks ago. I counted 42 left yesterday, but it still showed more in the stockroom as well. I think with a little patience and luck some of these are going to get to that 75% off mark. I wouldn't have thought that a month ago, but with how quick they moved the unleashed and titanium vader to clearance, it seems more likely.
-
At one of my local Targets there were only 6 of these on the shelves. The same 6 that had been there for a month. I went yesterday to check things out and the end cap that they were on had been reset for the Mace Battle Pack, etc. I checked the system and these had been moved to the stock room. There was no tag on the shelves anywhere for these (as well as the Kit Fisto Starfighter and the 3 general Battle Packs). I talked to the manager of the toy section, and she said that her action figure sections were set for the rest of the year, and if there was not a spot on the shelves for these and there was merchandise in the stockroom, then it is a distinct possibility that these will be heading for clearance the next cycle. That would be Wednesday of next week for me.
So all that being said, it might not hurt to start keeping an eye out for these items to show up on clearance soon... I'll re-post next week if I find anything out.
-
Our Target actually set up a new endcap (across from toys, by the household/lightbulbs stuff like that) that is currently holding the Mace Battlepacks and Han/Chewie Transformers (one of many locations with those), and has shelf tags for the tins, Unleashed BPs, and Galactic Heroes BPs. The other endcap with Snowspeeders and Kit fighters is still there as well, but getting pretty sparse at this point. I think the last time I checked there were about 4-5 snowspeeders, and surprisingly about the same amount of Kit fighters. Those have really gone down in the past week or two. It would be nice to see them go on clearance though, I'd probably pick up another snowspeeder if they got down to a really good price.
-
I agree on the Snowspeeder. I'd pick up two if they go on clearance. There are approximately 20 Kit Fisto Starfighters on top of the action figure aisle and no sign of them getting shelf space any time soon. Unless those hit rock bottom, I'm not going to bother with those.
-
I just scored the Rogue Two Snowspeeder for $14.98! That's no typo! I couldn't believe it when I saw the endcap loaded with Snowspeeders marked with a huge red sign %50 off! Freaking sweet.

That is awesome! I can only hope that the remaining ones in my store make it to the next markdown. Merry Christmas to you!

Thanks! and Totally! Your Target hasn't marked down their Snowspeeders?
-
Yeah, they are at $21 right now, but I'm sure they won't last long. I picked one up last night. If I'm lucky enough to find another one at $15, then bonus for me, but I don't think they'll be around that long.

Good to know. There's a few stores that have a lot of these, so perhaps I'll be able to score one cheeply in a few weeks to customize a new Zev.
-
It would've been nice to be able to snag one of these for $15, but I bought the last one at the only Target that had them a few weeks ago.
-
These have NEVER arrived at my local Target. I may have to drive to the next city's Target to get one if they still have it...
-
They're starting to hit clearance here for still a little over $20 but they're selling. Surprise to me was how fast the Kit Fighter disappeaared. Those things were gone as soon as they took a dive in price it seems.
-
I'm not complaining at all about the clearance, but, it is weird timing. I understand that there is a shelf space issue, but it is the holidays and they would have been able to sell a lot more at full price as we approach Christmas.
-
No doubt seems weird to me... exclusives are intended to drive people to your store, but looking to unload the stuff seems odd timing-wise. They're also dealing with space issues too of course, but that seems more an issue with the Shuttle than these smaller exclusive vehicles.
-
i wanted to get one...but they sold out the same weekend they were realesed at the TRU i always go to.

Ummm..Try Target friend. That's probably a contributing factor as to why you wouldn't have found a Target exclusive at a TRU.

He's in Canada, buddy. ;) I believe that the ship was/is offered to Canadians through TRU stores. Jango_Fett_89, please correct me if I'm wrong.
-
i live in canada eh :). they were selling them at TRU up here. we just didnt get many...well not my area atleast.
-
To clarify, not all TRU stores in Canada got them and then the number per store is variable. It's determined based on market size and sales patterns of the store. My TRUs never got the ship in at all as the market is considered too small.
-
Has anyone done any head swapping yet with Zev? Normally, I would have played around with a different configuration or two to determine if I'd want to pick up an extra Zev, but my collection is temporarily packed away. Trying to determine if or which body Zev's head would look good on, VTSC Luke or Dutch and visa/versa.
-
What's with the insane packaging with this thing? I cracked one open last night and it took me almost five minutes to free it from the tie downs and what not. Also, is this plastic flimsier than the POTF2 one? I know there's no electronics/batteries but the vehicle feels as heavy as a piece of paper.
-
We checked out both the Targets in town this weekend, and there wasn't any of these (or Kit fighters) to be found. Actually, they sold pretty well prior to Thanksgiving, and at our local store at least, I didn't see any the week before Thanksgiving even, so I'm not sure they even hit clearance here. I guess it is good to see vehicles sell decently, so hopefully we'll see some more. TRU is sold out of its exclusives as well, and the only one I've seen is the Shuttle, which is slowly moving as well.
-
the speeder looks pretty cool. better looking then the last one we got. and the figure would be better if it had ball jointed shoulders.
-
We had one store with dozens of these things sitting at 30% off. Then BAM, they were all gone in less than 48 hours. :(
-
How about this - $3.74 Snowspeeders!
-
:o
Where the hell was that? Good grief.
-
You gotta be freakin' kidding me. :o That's like 2 squadrons of them. Good score indeed.
-
just out of curiosity....do you REALLY need that many snowspeeders :-\
-
I could see someone wanting to do repaints and customs "needing" that many... Need is relative to the individual. I know people who want to make a full Rogue Squad from Hoth actually... $3.74 is one hell of a start to that, so good score Ruiner... Hell the figure is worth that price by itself. I'd have bought them just for that, haha.
-
well yeah i understand the whole wanting to make a full squad. True enough if he does customs. :P good score then
-
If he wants to sell them, kudos to him too... To me I'd have bought every one for $3.75 too had I seen them... Those are a great price. I'm sure they'd be welcomed by many people online.
-
that too is true lol. i know id buy one at the price ( considering i dont have one) but then again iv never really trusted having things sent through mail... fear of beings scammed :-\
-
Travis - are those your snowspeeders? If so, hook me up bro. :)
-
That's what our feedback threads are for! Check out the trading area and read into who you're trading with. Scams happen, but we've got lots and lots of trusted members here. When you build up your feedback too, you'll be fitting right into the mix and getting what you want.
-
Impressive. I would have bought them all at that price too, just for the Figure. Probably would have paid $10 a piece to get the figs. I saw them once at retail. Then no more. They did not even have a chance to go on clearance and I have 4 Targets within 10 miles of here and 2 on my way to the office.
-
Travis - are those your snowspeeders? If so, hook me up bro. :)
Yeah right, you know how things are around here! I think we got what, one case? I actually snagged that photo from that 'other' site.
