Umm...  That's almost mind boggling in it's perfection and detail.  I haven't collected any "big figures" in about 8 years, but this one may be tough to pass on.

But Dale, can't you ever plug an exchange rate onto your prices?  Make me do all the work, man...   >:(

Holy **** is right!  That's awesome.  Where did you find this?

$223CDN / $180US.  Poseable, removable helmet, even a nice saber.

edit: work done.  ;)

After getting the Koto Vader yesterday I've decided to start a small mini focus on him, not going all out or anything but the with the Koto and my Don Post Helmet and the Bust-Ups and a 12" Electronic Vader together it looked pretty nice.  I think I'll get this one and the new GG Bust and be satisfied for now.

I'm taking a guess that HLJ (Hobby Link Japan) and some other online stores will  have Vader available to order in time. Orders cannot be placed at the Medicom site.

As soon as Vader shows up for pre-order, we will keep you all posted.  ;)

Yeah right!  :P  I don't think it will show up on HLJ anytime soon. Maybe by late March, April but keep F5-ing. You never know with these guys.  ;)

I'm not sure about Luke.  :-\

I really hate bring this seller popsalute in here but Andy as we know him has the Vader on auction. What I find in the description is very interesting.

Quote
Yo this is one highly sought item Star Wars III Darth Vader at amazing/incredible quality. This set is only exclusive from Medicom Japan only. According to Medicom on-line shop in Japan and it has stated clearly that:

"We will not accept the order from the outside of Japan, and will not deliver this to abroad."

And there is one more restriction for application, only one applicant could order one set and ship to one domestic shipment adress in Japan. So if you are living in UK or US, definitely you have no means to buy such incredible collection! Luke is exclusively sold at 500 sets only!! So you couldn't find them from anywhere. This the best 12" Action Figure of Darth Vader when comparing with Hasbro/Mattel or any other brand that had been produced before. That figure will be shipped around mid of April (within one month after end of auction).

If this is true, it won't be available here, mmaybe HLJ but will have to watch out for it.  :-\

Quote
There are 33 articulations for that Darth Vader and you may find the oxygen mask could be taken off with Anakin real face...

I can't make a bloody thing out on the Medicom site. Simon, can you get more info?

Its not on the Limited part of the update so saying its limited to 1000 is wrong IMO
Title: Re: Medicom 12" Darth Vader RAH
Post by: DSJ™ on February 24, 2005, 02:40 PM
I agree with you on that Scott. IMHO, I think it's a selling tactic, just a way so he can sell them to the unknowing folk.  ::)  Heck, he has 2 Vader auctions, one for 4 Vaders and the other for 5 at the time I saw it.

Nah that's not Limited Edition. It doesn't say that any where on the website. And as I was saying to Scott yester day, the RAH Jedi Luke came out for retail at about $180 and now you can pick it up for $140. Patience will be the key to getting this one for a good price. If you wait a month or so after the release in June, it might drop.

How tough is HLJ on shipping?  I've never ordered anything from them, so is shipping from Japan going to be nasty, or are they reasonable?

Action HQ has the Vader up for pre-order for $209.95.

Star Wars: 1/6 RAH Episode VI Darth Vader  (http://www.action-hq.com/cgi-bin/action-hq/oth002270.html)

How tough is HLJ on shipping? I've never ordered anything from them, so is shipping from Japan going to be nasty, or are they reasonable?

I get my items shipped by EMS which is a courier (Purolator), better than SAL (Surface Land Air) and you will get nailed with customs as it's marked merchandise.

Heres an example of there shipping using the 1/6 Luke Skywalker Jedi Knight (http://www.hlj.com/product/MEDRAH-200). In there information box on the product, there is a shipping estimate. For this figure, EMS: 2,800 yen or $32.47 CDN, SAL: 1,280 yen or $14.84 CDN.

I find the rates good.

Post by: JesseVader08 on March 13, 2005, 03:23 PM
$209.95 - much better than BBTS at $239.99.

But for us Canucks, with shipping (Air Mail = $24), it comes to $285 when converted to CDN.  I think that's just too much for a 12" figure.

We'll see if HLJ can do better.

Easy to say no to this.  Just order the GG Vader statue and then add on the Sideshow Vader statue.  No problem at all saying no to this one :-X

See, I passed on those other two, so this one was easy to say yes to.  Especially after getting a cheap Koto Vader a few weeks ago, this baby will look wonderful next to that on my shelf.

I had to order the Sideshow Vader simply because of it sheer size and incredible detailing, but the poseability of this Medicom Vader makes it very competitive for my hard earned money.  I'm not sure how long I can stay away from it.

Just placed my order with HLJ, I don’t want to risk missing out on this one (still bugs me that I didn’t act fast on the Rocketeer)- Medicom production runs aren’t enormous and this one will sell like hotcakes… it’s a thing of beauty.

I placed my order a while back but went through BBTS since I had a coupon to use.  I cancelled by Sideshow Vader and I'm glad I did since I really like this one better.  Now I just have to wait until summer and put it next to Vader's lightsaber, which should make a nice display (and I can move the crappy Hasbro one somewhere else).

Boy, that price sure is tempting - still, that's quite a bit for a 12" figure...

If I wait, I'll regret it.

If I buy it, my wife will kill me; or even worse, hold out on me.

Also, Vader should ship the same time as the series 4 kubs, early July (2nd-5th).

Title: Re: Medicom Real Action Hero Darth Vader
Post by: jadesfire on July 19, 2005, 03:05 PM
I received my Vader yesterday and at first was a little disappointed.  Now, you have to realize, I am so use to Hasbro size dolls that when I first saw it, I thought it was wayyyyyyy too small of a doll to do Darth Vader justice.  I sat for quite a while trying to decide if I should open it or send it back so I just bit the bullet and opened it.

Positives:

The figure came out of the package with little difficulty and I immediately noticed how much cape there was.  It has a very flexible wire running all across the bottom of the cape to give it a nice weight and also, to be able to pose it somewhat.

The face sculpt is perfect.  I realized I was so use to Big-is-better from Hasbro that it was hard to accept his smaller size head but once I realized that he would just have to be displayed away from all Hasbro dolls, I started to fiddle with this hands...

Oh those hands!!  WONDERFUL!!!  I had so many poses going through my head I couldn't get those things changed fast enough.  They hold the saber fine and the un-lit saber can hang of the hook on his belt.  Speaking of his belt this rolls right in to the bad...

Negative:

The cod piece and the belt.  I assumed that the belt was seperate from the chest piece since you could pop the belt from it's hole in the back, but I found out after I started to tear it from the chest piece that it is all hooked together.  This is the down side since, on my Vader, that cod piece is just too high up and I can't move it down since the whole dam thing is connected.  I do want to state that the costume is very nice and all but this bugs the hell out of me.  I finally had to stuff him back in his box because of this.

Another point I have to make about the wonderful hands is that when you take them on and off, they don't "lock" in to place.  They just slide in and out.  Since I really never let him stand around with his arms down, holding his saber, I can only assume the arms will stay on.

All in all, I am sure once Luke arrives tomorrow and I put them together, I'll absolutely love him but I'm still wondering if $400.00 bucks is worth two dolls or if I should have saved it for Master Replica's rebel blaster. :-\

Well, I liberated my Medicom Vader from the Post Office today and all I can say is...WOW!

Beth, I don't understand your gripe about the codpiece and belt being one piece....I haven't taken mine completely apart, but it looks like two separate pieces on mine.  I also slid them down because they were riding high on my vader when I got him out of the box, but had no problems.

My only gripe is the hands.  Not a huge deal, but why didn't they all come with the little posts inside them like the Luke figure?  Completely minor gripe, but it took me a while to get the one out of the right hand because it was kind of wedged in there.

I do have it standing next to my Marmit Fett, and the Medicom Vader does look a bit small comparatively, but does look cool next to the Medicom Luke.

Guess I'll need a Medicom Fett when they make one...or better yet, if Siudeshow's are more similar to the Medicom figures....I'll be in Heaven!

Son of a bitch.  I paid over $40.00 bucks more for mine.  Why the hell didn't they post this months ago?? It's great they offer out-of-country stuff but it's not like this was some major surprise that just popped up and they never knew it existed before hand.

Oh well....I guess I'm more mad at myself for over paying....damn it all to hell anyways... :( >:(

I got my Vader a few days ago

Opened it last night...

Wow!  Scale wise I can see how collectors of the 12" line might be dissapointed because its nowhere near the size of the 14" Electronic Vader

But color me more than impressed.  I can't believe I paid that much for a doll but the detail and and everything else is exquisite

I would guess Boba will be coming soon and I might splurge on one of those as well.  Medicom, you rule!

While I'm sure this figure rocks (and I've gone back and forth on buying one) I'm pretty confident that Sideshow will do a comparable Vader in the near future for close to $50.

From what I`ve seen of the other 12" they do, I agree.
Their line should be awesome! Had I known about it before getting the Medicom
Vader, I might have passed. I still love the Medicom Vader though, truly awesome!

I finally got mine today.

My hopes were really high for this one and it left me very disappointed. :'( :'(  The box was flimsy and came with a mashed corner.  Vader's chest plate has a hook in it to hold the cape chain in place so the plastic bent and it sticks out at a weird angle.    Plus he is really small.  I  can't put it anywhere near any figures in that scale because he gets totally dwarfed by them.  I'm just glad he came with a pair of  limp wrist hands so I can pose him crying because he sucks.  What a colossal waste of money.  I feel ripped off.

Sorry you aren't impressed with it Don.  I agree that it would look awkward displayed alongside any of the Hasbro figures....it even looks odd next to my Marmit Fett.

However, standing next to the Medicom Luke he looks awesome!

I had always planned to have it flanked by my two Marmit Stormtroopers but that just looks dumb.  He looks like Hayden is in the suit scale wise.

Also there is a casting flaw on the one I got's cod piece!  The line is bowed on one side.  And is it just me or is that cod piece way to high around his waist?

I think the same thing about the cod piece.  I haven't even took him back out of his box since my review a page or two back.

How about a RotS Vader variant?  Check out that head sculpt!   :o

If this uses the same amazingly poseable body as the original (and it appears to based on the pictures), I think I may have finally decided that I need this bad boy.  That face sculpt is amazing!  (And since I don't have any Hasbro 12" figures, I won't notice that it's shorter than those, so it's all good  ;))

I'll have to watch my e-mail closely the next few days for the Robby.jp announcement of its pre-order availability.  When it comes up, I'll mention it here and anyone who's interested in one can go in with me.

I do like the head sculpt, but I keep the helmet on my RAH Vader all the time, so I don't see the need to get another one.

I played around with the cod piece (stop sniggering in the back of the room) and managed to get in in place. Looks good now.

I had alot of trouble with the saber and in fact I $%#ing snapped it one night when I was putting in the blade. I'm not a happy camper.

I like the new Vader. They did a similar thing with the Spiderman 2 RAH with an alternative head.

Another pic of the head.
I wasn`t going to get this, but... DAMN! F@)KING Medicom!

If RoBby offers it for a decent price, I might have to bite...

Besides the head, is there any difference to the first one?

I just received my e-mail from Robby.jp to pre-order the unmasked RAH Darth Vader - they are listing it for 11,700 yen ($103.37US or $121.38CDN) and expect it to retail for 18,000 yen ($159.02US or $186.66CDN).

It has to be pre-ordered by October 10th and will ship December 31st.

Of course, that doesn't include shipping, which won't be cheap coming from Japan.

Nope, I am low on space and wasn't too thrilled about the first one so it was an easy decision to pass on this (though the head sculpt looks good).  Post some pictures when he arrives!!
