I'm actually scheduled to be having a real chat (in person) with one of our forum members (and a good collecting buddy of mine) at that time. Jared (SilverZed3) and I will be getting together right around then. Have fun without me! :)

So I was just in the chatroom (a little early due to my trouble with math), hanging out and having a marvelous little discussion - with myself, when I was joined by someone who nicknamed themselves "Sparks". Well, either Sparks had nothing to say, didn't particularly like me, or was slightly frightened by my split-personality discussion that I was having with myself in there, so he never chimed in. Just a lurker, I guess. Hope I kept him entertained!

So does anyone want to fess up to being "Sparks"? Anyone...? Anyone...?

Not sure how the hell you were in there alone Chris... I popped in just a couple minutes after your post here (when the chat room finally loaded), and there were 4 other people in there already, including Scott and Carrie, as he mentioned above. I wonder if you found you're way into a different room or something...? No idea really...

Well, it was another fun one. Old man Scott retired early, but Carrie, Squints and I chatted 'til the wee hours of the morning... And I even finally figured out who the heck Carrie's new man is... Double duh! :P

Yeah, seems like Friday nights are the most hoppin' in there usually. Not sure what that says for some of our social lives, except that maybe we're a bunch o' boring old farts who don't hit the town like we used to back in the day... :P But you can try any time I suppose. Just bump this chat thread up and give the gang a holler. One little tip about logging into the chat that I remembered last night though, is DO NOT put a space anywhere in your name, or it won't let you in! Maybe that's what Jesse was doing last night, not sure. I was doing the same thing, and getting shut out until I removed the space between "Yo' Mama"... 8)

I waited, it took a little while, then in the lower left corner of my browser it read "done" as if the page had loaded, but what I'm assuming is the "chat screen" was still not loaded (Looked like it WAS gonna load, but never did and the browser said done so my PC wasn't doing anything at that point).

So I have no clue what's up... It never asked me to sign on with any name either... I never got that far I guess.

Sorry guys, maybe chat's just not for me? :)

And it doesn't bother me too much, until there are four or five people in there who are using other monikers for themselves. THAT is when it can get really confusing (unless those people have identified themselves). The only way to combat this problem would be to have a secure chat client in which you would have to log in under your forum name, which is an option, depending on what Chris can find as far as new chat clients go.

AFAIK, I'm up to date on everything.

Tried it last night on a buddy's computer, and got in just fine. Went home, thirty minutes later, and couldn't get in at all.

I'm not the most computer literate guy around, so if it has to do something with my computer, I have no idea what to do about it.

No need to apologize--I'm glad that the chat is here at all, as it's one of the main things I use the site for. Thanks to you and Dale for working to make it better! During the downtime, I've "had" to go back to that unofficial Rebelscum chatroom, and it's definitely a (technical) step down from the chat here. Looking forward to being able to get back in.

The backdoor Dale provides is faster for me, but the main link works just as well. It takes a little longer to load the "software" but that's about it.

There were about 15 people on the site last night around 11 central and I logged in to find no one on the chat. 1/2 hour later several were there.

Maybe it just likes older computers with slower CPUs and Win98.

If all else fails, we could go to that unofficial Rebelscum chat, but, in my opinion, it sucks compared to this one. Unfortunately, I've had a much easier time getting into that one than this one.

Well, I wasn't able to get in through the normal link just now ( http://www.jedidefender.com/chat.php ), and I wasn't able to get to the other link that DSJ posted on page six.

However, I was able to get to the vintage chat on this page: http://www.toysrgus.com/chat/chat.html

And on the intro screen, instead of having "#archivelive!" in the Join Channel thing, I typed in "#jedidefender", and got in that way.

So, if anybody else is having troubles, you might see if that works.

Actually, we rather prefer to do without the fights, and for what it's worth, that wasn't even a fight since it was pretty much just one-sided. I don't think any of us found that terribly enjoyable to observe last night. So hopefully we can refrain from that in the future, as that's not what we like to use our "friendly" JD chatroom for. That kind of stuff is better served at the RS chat, I think. As we've said many times before, clean slate over here at JD for everyone. If anyone's had a beef with someone elsewhere, keep it elsewhere. Unless it involves Jimbo or Katmandu, in which case, feel free to fire away here, since we all hate them! ;)

I had the chat window open but I was looking at the forums and other stuff in another window most of the time, and would only pop in occasionally to see what was going on. You'd have to ask Famine or Tydirium for names, we were chatting alone for awhile until the other guys showwed up. I talked to Kevin afterwords on AIM and he sounded pretty pissed off.
