Conventions / Re: Wizard World in Chicago

Lets just hope the fiasco in Cali is not repeated in Chicago with the Blue Clone Bust.

What happened?  I am planning on going Saturday with my son (he's interested in the computer drawing class).  So...since I never have been to anything like this before...what should I expect?  I'd like to get Sean Astin and Leeanna Walsman's autograph.  I will have to pick up my ticket when I get there.  Any pointers on any of this would be aprreciated.

(I would also like to get a Silver Fett and the Statler/Waldorf set, again...how do I go about doing this).

thanks!!

Other Toy Lines / Re: Which is Your Favorite "Other Toy Line"?
« on: July 31, 2003, 06:07 PM »
The other toy line I collect in force is Lord of the Rings.  I pick up the Simpson line for my son ( I have to find wave 12 Moe and wave 13 Stephen Hawkins and that will bring me to the end of summer for free car washes  ;) ).

I (along with my daughter) also collect Mattel's "Kelly" dolls (Barbie's baby sister).  The output on these little darlings (and endless variations) puts all other lines to shame.

My son also has a large GI Joe collection along with MOTU, TMNT, Batman and X-men.  I think his X-men collection is the largest (Joe might be pretty close though).  The reason I mention his collection is that we both pursue it.  I started back in the 80's when my kids were born, buying up toys and keeping them until they were old enough to open them and play.  Nothing is in its original boxes (it's all sorted and stored in giant Rubbermaid containers) but Jeff knows exactly what figure goes with what character.  Every so often he'll talk about selling one part or another and then when it comes right down to it, he can't part with any of it.  I keep filling in missing (or broken) guys here and there and I am quite sure that there is nothing left to purchase for the old X-men line as well as the TMNT.

It's been such fun over the years, collecting all this stuff and watching my kids play with the toys but also keeping them in some what of a "clean" stage.   I've instilled the collecting bug in my kids and I hope they can pass it on one day. :D

Middle Earth / Re: Lord of the Rings Figures
« on: July 31, 2003, 05:50 PM »
Just a quick note on the Deluxe 9-pack.  It's now being released in TTT red packaging and was found at an Ohio walmart for $29.95.

I agree with Scott on his picks for Aragorn and Gandalf but I prefer the Frodo with the light-up 'sting' as the best of that character.  The hard-to-find Arwen on horseback (with Frodo) is now being released in the red packaging also so if you start now, you could probably pick up almost everything that's been made (besides Elrond and TW Frodo).

I'm so pumped for this movie!!  This sneak-peak is incredible and, as mentioned above, sad and wonderful - all in one.

That was an incredible run Scott!!  I assume you are now knee deep in toys and we won't hear from you for a few days  ;).  Did you breakdown and buy the AOME yet?? :D

I said that same thing, Scott.  I have NO room for another line but I have a feeling when I see the Balrog I'll be moving the school pictures off the coffee table  ;).

Do you remember what the price is on the ones you found?
Have you spotted Eowyn (ROTK) yet?

Rick did stop in over at the 'scums forum that is dealing with this topic and since he might not be aware that it's being posted in again over here I thought I'd link you to his response.
I hope this helps with any questions anyone has or had...

PS:  You have to scroll down a bit to get to his response.

New Force Reply

UPDATE:  If you scroll down further you'll see that Entertainment Earth has also replied and as far as they know, the case orders will be filled but not until September.

I just checked EE and they pushed their wave 13 case to August (this has been on going since May).   Wave 11 still states July but I'm sure that will be bumped to August also.  Yup, another slap in the face from Hasbro.  :P

Man, he was the best.  My Dad was a huge fan of his (as is my Mom).  If he was on TV, there was no way we'd be able to convince my Dad to change the channel.

Hats off to one of the best entertainers of all time.
